When I first heard about this Dencun update, I thought it would make the main net transaction fee more cost-efficient by reducing it, but now I have come to realize that, this will only reduce the transaction fee for Layer 2 Networks (i.e Optimism, Arbitrum). I mean really! All this suspense of the new update was for L2 ( I know I misinterpreted the info at first read) but what urgent attention is needed for this update? Why they are not working on the Mainnet (ERC-20) optimization update to reduce the transaction fee?
Or nothing can be done now? I know with a wider range of networks, the congestion on the Mainnet will reduce which result in lesser tx fees but I have seen 20% of Ethereum-based platforms which are creating their ecosystem on the mainnet, this number is estimated, and I am sure that there are more platform (new ones) based on the mainnet.
