HP printer wants you to store your scanned documents in the cloud - Red flag

Eureka, it works ... Was it intentionally set this way ?

Why would anyone want to store the scanned document on HP cloud ?
Who have access to HP cloud ? Or should i say backdoor master access ?

I do not use an HP printer or scanner, luckily. I have been using a cheap EPSON 3-in-1 printer, and I am happy with that, even though sometimes it troubles me. I am not sure if they forcing users to upload the documents to the cloud. If it is that way, then this is a huge red flag. Because they scan a lot of sensitive documents, including their Identity card, Licenses, and land papers. I cannot think how important and sensitive those documents are.

But if they are not forcing anyone, then it is fine.

HP has so many issues related to their printer, afaik. I heard their printers will send data of your devices and your print history. I think the story is still there on Reddit. Not to mention, they tried to limit your cartridge usage so that you'll buy new ones even though the old ones are still perfectly fine. I think most people discourage users from buying their scanners or printers in online communities. Surprisingly, they're still operating with such ridiculous and anti-privacy features.

I haven't used an HP printer for years, but I did have one that worked by installing the driver on a local computer, and I don't even have an HP account. However, I don't know about modern printers. Have you tried downloading and installing the latest printer driver from the company's website?

If this is true, it's strange and dangerous. Why would they want to store all these millions of scanned documents online from all over the world? This would cost them a lot of money, as they need central servers and massive storage space. Why would they go to all this trouble for documents that might not be of any value to them?

All of HP's devices are becoming garbage lately. Fortunately for us, Epson printers work just fine.

Zero reason to buy any HP devices if you can help it. They are trying to become a mini-Apple but with no reputation, and terrible hardware parts that don't even perform good.
