I am just seeing this post for the first time, $1m is a lot of money and it incentivizes more people to provide information to the CFTC if they have any. Doing further research i can see that whistleblowers get ~ 10-30% of the monetary sanctions received or recovered by the commission, although their information is kept confidential.

The government must not stop making sure that scammers and hackers are punished under the existing laws of the land...and this should be serving as a big warning for anyone planning to victimize other people out of their money. There is no place for people like this most especially in the cryptocurrency industry. And CFTC must use all the available resources to run after these people and to encourage tips from those who know good rewards are available. This is part of the regulatory power and work of the government and I am sure that even during the coming crypto-friendly Trump administration they will continue enforcing the laws against these evil people.
