Some website or company provide some discounts during years and they bring contest to win prizes so now we don’t really have any information about the website you are talking about and providing the information about the product or website will help us to make research and find out if it scam or not so please try to provide information about the site.

Is that legitimate? That all depends on who or which platform conducting the said promotional event. Most of the biggest cryptocurrency exchanges are having their Christmas time promotions and if you happen to meet one of them am sure they can be legit. Just be wary of lesser known exchanges as many of them can be doubtful and may resort to half-hearted promotions just to benefit their own platforms and do not actually care the participants. i would ask you to be careful mate holidays make people desperate and frustrated and will do anything to get some money so scams and people basically asking for money increases during this time of the year and if you are not careful enough you will find yourself getting losses during the holidays which would be horrible to end the year at and start the year on

When you say discount, you need to be more specific. When it comes to buying or purchasing of goods, that's where there comes discount for the season, this doesn't really happen in the crypto industry or market.

There could be room for prizes for some contest, which could be referred to as Christmas or New Year giveaways where the winner or winners are selected at the end of the contest event period.

Prize pool is or are different and where is this pool being carried out? You need to be sure of where this event is happening. Prize pools takes place in exchanges or gambling websites. This I'm sure often happen or take place in different exchanges like Binance, Bybit, Kucoin etc. This is not really being done because it is festive season, rather it's normal in exchanges. You need to confirm where the prize pool is happening, to avoid being scammed.
