Why do people get negative karma on this forum?

Altcoinstalks is a friendly forum, we all tend to give much more positive karma than negative one. We encourage good posters to share interesting content. And if there are some few bad actors on the forum, only them should get some negative karma.

Yes, it's very true and the ones who are part of this forum know that thing. Altcoinstalks is quite friendly in giving positive karma and members often try to send positive karma to encourage good positing.

However, the ones who perform wrong activities also get negative karma, and I have seen some people taking advantage of karma system by sending positive karma to their own alt accounts and most of those got some kind of punishment.

As you mentioned, people get negative karma on this forum because they don't follow the forum rules in the first place, but of course you can get negative karma as a result of other reasons, such as someone not liking your post.

The Karma System was originally created to make members improve the quality of their posts by gaining positive karma and alert other members to their mistakes through negative karma, but as with any system it can be abused.

We cannot discount the fact that people give negative karma because they contradict of what the other members are saying, or because they just don't like the guy, it really happens on an open forum, So far, I seldom get negative karma, maybe because I don't like to be in a drama but most of all, I follow the guidelines and avoid topics that I cannot contribute positively.

I agree with everything you said, and to be honest, all those things are true. I believe some people do send negative Karma to someone whom they don't like and or for other obvious reasons. But, I believe those people should understand that they're somehow misusing the karma system of the forum.

I'm also among those members who doesn't get more negative karma as compared to positive ones, and that's because I don't really offend others with my words and I believe useful conversation is way better than arguing.

I often send positive karma to the ones who I mention in my posts because I truly like their posts and as appreciation I send them positive karma. Sometimes I do mention +1 when I send karma to someone while other times I don't mention that but send the positive karma for sure.

Of course giving negative karma just for the opinion you don't like or just because you don't like someone in person is an obvious misuse of karma and of course it happens sometimes. It is not a big deal as long as it is not a personal attack, because altcoinstalks is a friendly forum and our users tend to give much more positive karma than negative one. So even if someone occasionally gave you -karma because he doesn't like you in person your good posts will bring you much more +karmas and you can just ignore that one or couple of -karma. It is a problem only of there is a coordinated attack or systematic -karma without a reasonable cause from the same user.

You don't have to be afraid of anything, as long as you are respectful of other users you won't have any problems. As for negative Karma due to difference of opinions, it is something that unfortunately we cannot fight against, and as has already been said in previous posts, it is a misuse of Karma, but it cannot be controlled. The difference in opinions is what makes this forum enriched by knowing the different points of view of all the users within the community and that is also the most valuable thing.

Respect the forum rules, be respectful of other users and express your opinion freely. The rest doesn't matter.

As for negative Karma due to difference of opinions, it is something that unfortunately we cannot fight against, and as has already been said in previous posts, it is a misuse of Karma, but it cannot be controlled. Yep, even good people may have gotten negative karma too, because maybe personal problems with other members... until now, the character of the Altcoinstalks forum still feels comfortable to be used as a place for daily discussions.. and as long as there is the Eye of Sauron feature, karma abuse should be able to be resolved immediately by the victimized users... and it can still be discussed to get the truth from the leaders of this forum...

I also often get negative karma and positive karma notifications... and I think this is still within reasonable limits that are fun.

It is normal for there to be discussions that go a little beyond the friendly tone, sometimes that is unavoidable. What we should do in these cases is try to solve things in a civilized way, and if the problem continues to increase, report it so that an immediate solution can be found. Karma is like money, it comes and goes, but I repeat that it is not difficult to obtain positive Karma if we really put in a little effort. The way that simple fact makes us feel is limited by our personality, but it is not a serious problem.

but how can one misuse karma . I have been cracking my brain about that for long . Do people have excess karma that they misuse ? I also check for link or thread about misuse of karma but didn’t find none.
Ain’t karma hard to get cause if you have karma you are worth it then why later misusing it . Seems that a bad idea and attitude towards this forum right.

Karma is not what a user is worth, it is an incentive or recognition (you can call it whatever you want) that other users give. Misusing Karma would be, for example, giving negative Karma to a user because you previously had an argument with them and things have not yet been resolved.
