Some hacker is exploring a bug to crash all of the dogecoin nodes! Although to be exact, it is actually just 69% of the nodes that have crashed (heh).

Now I need to check to see if my node is one of the casualties. It's crazy how the price of DOGE hasn't gone down yet, though I blame the devs, if there are even any left at this point, for not updating the code for years!

I thought it was a joke at first so I searched and found the news on Cointelegraph, this is really funny how is this possible?

From what I understand from the article, this bug occurs because in computing, a segmentation fault occurs when a program tries to access a portion of memory that it is not allowed to use. When this happens, the operating system stops the program for security reasons which causes the node to crash, and since Dogecoin nodes are publicly known, anyone can crash the entire Dogecoin network by typing in a node address and causing the node to die due to the segmentation fault.

For real  that's not what I wanted to hear. Anyways I hope your node is okay though. 69% is a huge chunk and that's quite crazy and surprising that the price of DOGE hasn't taken a hit yet. But at the same time, the crypto market can be weirdly unpredictable sometimes to be sincere. Anyways I think the market hasn't sold intensively yet since fear wasn't really stirred up by the whole thing.

However it's pretty disappointing that they haven't updated the code in years. Fingers crossed they get their act together and fix this issue ASAP before things may get worse.

Yes, i believe that you also create an excellent comment in your post. We also know hat Dogeoin nodes is one of the best popular currency in cryptocurrency market. If we follow in crypto currency market, we can see that Dogecoin nods price is increase day by day in cryptocurrency market. I also think that gradually it’s price also increase quickly. Because we know that bitcoin price is also increase gradually in cryptocurrency market. so i believe that all crypto currency price will increase gradually in cryptocurrency world.

The good news is that Dogecoin is just a copy of old Bitcoin, so I should be able to ban this malicious peer using an RPC command. Apparently, this is not even a peer but my own address so this is useless. I am not sure where I can find the malicious peer's address in my debug.log.

69% should have been on alert for this surveillance, is it because doge is a coin worth less than $1 that they say it's okay, the problem is the DOge developer's extraordinary code for this matter they are very insensitive in this matter, hopefully everything will be fine

Doge is extremely supported by Elon and how come they did not update the code well one thing is for sure and that is, Elon has made it sure that not most of the crypto community would know this, as it was not even on the news like hot news. So the impact may be low, it's been now more than 24 hours and I came to know about this update by reading your post.

As few hours ago I was going to invest in Doge but still thinking should I or now. I also did not knew you have a node running which is also good, can you share more about your node experience, like how beneficial it is?

DOGE price continues to be maintained above $0.4 and doesn't seem to be negatively impacted by this news. Perhaps memecoins are still just memecoins and their value is sustained by the fun they can bring to holders, it's not a technological platform where solutions are implemented for users ^^

I think this bug will be fixed soon and the Dogecoin Devs will find many similar bugs to avoid serious consequences in the future, especially when DOGE could reach a significantly higher price than it is now. As for the BTC code, I believe that such bugs have been addressed in upgrades over the years and investors can rest assured that a black swan won't come from the BTC code.

Seems you are right. Memecoins would not care much what can be happening to it as long as it is there for them to support and make money from. Though I would say that this attitude can be good if implemented for the whole cryptocurrency industry though on my part I am more into innovations, value before getting into community support. Or maybe the news has not yet been a viral and that is why the price of $DOGE remains unaffected...whatever it can be we will know in the coming days.

That 69% though lol. I was wondering why it's tanking as well. It seems like it has been experiencing crashes and is mostly down right now. I believe that it could go down lower if BTC continues to dip. I don't think this is the end of the bull run but make sure you have the necessary stops in order to make it back and possibly profit again with this.

I guess the price of Doge is down at the moment, struggling around 0.28 as of the time of this post... A significant drop down of over -20%.

But apparently, I personally didn't see some effects of the bug crashing nodes on dogecoin until this period where the market is experiencing downtrend...
And dogecoin is reducing in price massively, and it may likely go down more with the current market situation.

            -     I have no idea what those dogecoin nodes are, all I know is that Doge has nfts, right? Then how much are the Doge nft nodes? I just can't remember which dogecoin I got before, where was the price when I got it, it was like 0.019Eth and by that time ETH was still cheap.

I'll try to find that nft, but it's a shame that its price is also expensive, after all, when I sell it, I hope I can still find that nft node.
