I'm here to tell you your crypto gaming expectations are too high

Crypto gaming needs to become more about gaming and less about NFTs. We need games that are so entertaining that people are willing to throw money on it and expect nothing in return in the real world.

The current model of making money by just playing a game would never take off because such games would attract gold farmers who will turn it into a profession, which in-turn will turn away any player who just wants to play a few hours for fun.

I hope we get games that are fun to play, where NFTs are just a small part rather than the central feature, and where there is only a possibility of making real-world money rather than a certainty. Such a game could attract a wider audience.

I agree with this perspective: GameFi projects should prioritize the Play aspect before adding the Earn element to increase player engagement. Unfortunately, the teams behind GameFi projects lack significant game design experience. They are primarily crypto experts who don't fully understand the preferences of gamers seeking entertainment.

Some game publishers have shown interest in joining the crypto ecosystem, but we still haven't seen any AAA games on the blockchain. A game that copied Flappy Bird was recently brought to Web3, but it generated a lot of negative feedback from the gaming community, suggesting it was a failure before even being officially released ^^

The term GameFi itself mean Game Finance so the main concept is integrated with the earn model and that is why this ecosystem exists in the first place. Still, your point is understandable that the games have to be decent instead of crappy ones but unfortunately gaming industry is billion dollar worth for just games. Hence, someone has to invest that much if they really want to meet the expectations of intense gamers. I don't think even if someone did they would focus on it cause their core is not finance just game itself and they go by the resource demanding highly graphical needs over the period.

Since the beginning when it was launched with crypto attributes there, it has indicated that the crypto community has a great potential to make money from there... and those who play are only oriented towards money, not gameplay.... even though I agree with some of the opinions above, where when the gameplay is fun and fair, it gives more attention to players to be addicted to playing games and are willing to spend a lot of money to top up or buy in-game items...

So, I also agree with OP, that game projects to make money in cryptocurrency tend to end in a short time... when it doesn't make money anymore, the game will be abandoned... but some games that are based on fun, they will continue to exist as long as it is still fun...

To me, GTA could be the perfect game to integrate blockchain, NFTs and crypto payments
There are some MMOs too that would fit nice with cryptos

I agree that most games end up focusing too much on the crypto part and the game becomes very simple and boring, with a very short life and a lot of focus on just making money, creating some kind of pyramid

Games need to be less about money!
People thinking that it would work all well and fun when inserting all this crypto and even NFT into games and there would be any backslash from the community and it won't destroy the economy of the game are the ones that never actually played the said game.
Gamers play for fun, they spend hundreds of $ for their video cards and set-ups to have fun, not to be overrun by an army of bots making pennies.

Like the first comment said - most of the people involved don’t know much about games designs they are just there for the web3 aspect so to them as long as blockchain gets implemented they’re satisfied which is not good.

If you look at some TPS and FPS games you’ll see that despite the gamers not being able to earn anything from the game they are still actively playing it and even spending money - if these developers can carry out a good survey and then create a game like that in the web3 space it will blow up more than the normal one that we currently have.

Let’s say they create a game and don’t add any feature that earns money for the gamer but it’s enjoyable enough to make them keep playing - after something (after gaining a large community) they’ll now introduce a feature that allows the gamer to earn from it, trust me that game will blow so much and those playing will not be doing it because of the fact that they can earn but because they enjoy it.

I agree with what you said because I also tried to play some GameFi or play-to-earn projects, but what I will say is that the term "fun" is a very subjective thing. There might be some out there that are enjoying playing this game while others aren't.

If you want NFTs to have a minimal feature towards the whole game, just play traditional games out there that doesn't require any NFTs at all. I mean why focus on games on the crypto space where you can still play other games that aren't related to it. If your main priority is just for fun, there are other games out there that can entertain you. Unfortunately, most of the investors have this mindset where if they hear that it's an NFT game, they will always think about the money that they can possibly get from it while playing. Not saying all, but there are some.

Overall, I still believe that there are still few NFT games out there that are considered "entertaining". They just need more spotlight for it to become popular.

I agree. Average games seen as entertainment source, where people willing to spend their money. Meanwhile, crypto games rarely seen as entertainment source where people perceive it as quick or easy money source. IMO there should be more crypto games where the cryptocurrency/NFT aspect is optional. Otherwise, such games wouldn't attract average people where the player base is filled by people who're looking for money rather than fun.

Well, that's the issue with current GameFi projects: they're poorly developed and don't focus on the "Play" aspect. Crypto causes value to move too quickly, and participants often prioritize quick earnings over enjoying the game through sound, visuals, and gameplay.

We'll need to wait longer to see the maturity of projects in the GameFi trend. #DevelopmentTeam s should include more game developers and have a sustainable tokenomics model to avoid collapse during crypto winters.
