Win money but lose money...Jupiter exchange

So happy I joined this website, the team seem amazing and looking forward to contribute

I am new to memecoins but it drives me crazy as after many attempts same results, I win money on a trade but at the end I am loosing money. And I put about 0.3 sol at the begining so not nothing...

Here my trade:

As you can see I sold it when the price increased so I should have made money. It is a +20% increase (0.0003 to 0.00036)

But here below it shows that so there is a discrepancy on the price with the graph above =>



2) I know they are fees on Jupiter + slippage but still. See below the fees. Even if I do the math, it does not match. I have about ($0.03483)+($0.03387)+($0.02504)+($0.02408) = $0.11782 (~$0.12)



3) So the big question is HOW DID I LOST $2.26?

How to fix this?

I put ULTRA on Jupiter.

On the trading platform GMGN it says I bought it as 59.36$ when on Solscan it says 57.91$
Same on GMGN I sold it at 57.1$ when on Solscan it says 57.24$

I lost some 2$ in the battle? I still do not get it. Are there hidden fees?

My slippage tolerance was 5%, maybe I need to change it to be more accurate?

Never traded on Jupiter but it is not hard to identify if the fee is higher or not, if you are trading on a dex you should target for high profits because if you plan to make short profits on Dexs then you will only lose money in the form of fee there are no hidden fee I guess the slippage was high and there can be API issues like low latency in both platforms you used to identity the price you traded i.e sol and GMGN

I learned one more thing for dexs is that never spend high amount on these dexs, for examples in millions because when you trade in millions the fee would be more and when you trade in hundred or thousands the fee would be lower due to the % and other factors.

Based on my experience, a graph usually lags or takes the average of trades that happened within a timeframe. I'd look at the price offered when you trade instead of a trading chart, especially if it's not clear how the dex shows it. Slippage also plays a part here so I'd reduce it to 1% or something if the token has good liquidity. If you're trading a token with low volume it would be different though.

In short, I don't think hidden fees are the reason why you 'lost' money here, but the rates simply got worse when you executed your trade. CMIIW.

Yeah, those quick and short trades in dex are not good. Too much fees, slippage, etc... it will work if you hold the coins for months / years and then sell in a high profit.

To maximize gains, cex are always cheaper. However, you need to complete kyc in them

I am always reminded of the adage that you can't have your cake and eat it too...sadly it is very much applicable in some cases when involving with trading in cryptocurrency all because there are things we never expect are there affecting clearly if one is not trading a big amount of coin/token. There are always advantages and disadvantages when dealing with Dex and Cex and it is all up to our taste to decide which can be better...or maybe what situation any one of them can be the right pick. As in the case above, there can be some problem with Jupiter itself and is not yet as robust as it should be...and the trader should maybe adjust his slippage percentage accordingly.

Jupiter is a dex so here you are totally depended on liquidity. if you trade any low liquidity coin then you definitely not received expected price when you sell. specially when trading pressure is high here you will feel like gambling. SOL chain is very popular chain and everything coins hit millions of doller trading volume here. so you must accept this risk if you want to trade on Jupiter.

From my understanding, there are no hidden fees with it; you just need to double-check that the trade went through, and see if the actual trade is with the prices that you do. If there are no prices in that market, it will adjust to the next one, so you would lose the money from there. The slippagewilld be adjusted automatically,y and that is where it will go. Those are considered fees already. In a DEX, it's almost always like that. It's hard to scalp in that market. As long as the volume is high, you wouldn't worry about that much but for meme coins, which has low volatility, you would get that fee.

You either go big or go home on DEXes, especially on smaller tokens.
It's wise to work through CEXes if the volume that you may pour is not that big to begin with.

I also have a last question, I wanted to copy trade someone who has good results.

Something very strange, every time he buys something very very low on the platform trading I am using GMGN.AI, I have this error message.

And I can only trade it 2 mins later when the price already go up by x100

Not sure to understand why... It seems I can not never buy it when it is very low, like the person I copy trade.



I use slippage 30% and priority fees 0.006 and MEV on.

Just check the details of your trades, is all the volume sold at the same price or there's small deviation? Usually on exchanges the trades will be executed even when the prices are not exactly same as long as it's below the desired price when buying and vice versa for selling.

And the exchange itself not that familiar so better switch to something that's trusted such as Binance.

Dexes usually has priority fees, aside from slippage and on how fast you want your trade will go through. I personally never have used GMGN but I use Telegram bots in trading memecoins and never had a problem using it aside from my frequent loses. 😅

        -      Win or lose money is common in exchanges whether cex or dex platform. So the profit will depend on the knowledge of the traders. I have also read many times on this forum that only those who have knowledge of trading in which for me is really true.

Apart from that, I have rarely used Jupiter exchange unless I discover a crypto potential listed there in JUP, I will buy that crypto for sure then hold.

I agree with this as on dexs we can't make small profits because of fee and low liquidity. I have been following Virtual Beacon from a long time and one of his best video was on this topic where he discussed about three types of investment which are big, mid and low, and he mentioned the low cap tokens are mostly on dexs and why we should not invest big amount in them because even if we invest huge in them we can't make good profit.

We should prefer cexs for small profits as many prefer future trading over spot trading for small profits.

Shor terms trades are not profitable we can't make few dollars but with proper math we can also make profit. We can make profit from low cap coins by holding them for short period too because the volatility also matters I also used decentralized exchanges but never paid huge fee.

We should always see if there is a more or expand option in the slippage area because sometimes they keep it hidden but it is in front of our eyes at the same time to trick us to think the fee is lower.

Based on my experience trade at Jupiter exchange I don't think problem with dapp exchange its self but depend on your coins kinds of trading. Usually meme coins take higher fees for trading and you must increasing slippage when swap until approving your coins trading,
But if you use small slip page its unacceptable how possibility you loss much money behind increasing price of your coins trading up to 20%, maybe you can track all at Solana explore and see there what wrong with your trading at Jupiter exchange because high increasing coins price but you still not get more profitable.
