Hello everyone,  I apologize for asking too many questions.  To be honest, I'm not trying to annoy or disturb you.  I would appreciate it if you could explain what the poll in the forum means, how it works, and how it contributes to the discussion or ranking.  Keep in mind that I only ask those questions because I'm new to the system and don't know anything about it.  I sincerely hope that you will think about lending a hand to a fellow forum fan.

Poll is a voting mechanism in the forum that is added to a post, for the purpose of receiving the choice and views of different members of the forum regarding a post made. This poll can be locked and can also be open for any new person who wants to reply and take part in the voting as well.

It does not really have anything to contribute with increasing rank of a member, but to the point of discussion. If your post is helpful, resourceful and quality in content, you will receive karma from fellow forum members which has effect on ranking of members of the forum.
If you have really been asking questions, you must have also read a lot in the forum, it is said that who asks questions won't get lost in a new environment or when embarking on a journey.

You seriously don't know what a poll is? 

In simple words poll is used when users needs to vote on a specific subject. For example take a look at the image below!

Here users were presented with several choices. whether they were interested in a project called PI, whether they were aware of it, or if they just wanted to check the results. As you can see, total 11 user voted where 10 user voted not interested and one just wanted check the result and the rest didn't get any vote at all.

In some polls you can vote on multiple choices, in some only one. It depends on the person who created it.

Just like a couple of other users here have mentioned also, polls here are actually no different form the regular voting related stuff on other websites SMF or not. It's just a way to get statistics on some collective idea. For things like voting a moderator , polls are not used instead we use regular voting.

This is because of transparency of votes since polls are actually a sort of anonymous voting.

Polls are some kind of voting system that allows to know the opinion of people on a topic or question been posed in the forum. It makes the people voting anonymous but results are transparent for everyone to see. When you’re looking for an opinion of most users in the forum about something, a poll can be created easily to curate what people’s choice will be on what you’re asking about. It’s just like a voting system but the voters are not known here while the result are visible to all.

Even a question about a poll for a forum can be answered by anyone, and you OP should be able to ask google what polls are conducted on each forum.
I hope you understand what the poll function is in this forum, Of course questions like this are very easy and I think you are completely new to the forum or have never even played in other forums.

A poll in the forum is not different from a poll elsewhere. It refers to a system of collecting opinions to arrive at a conclusion. It is same as voting.

It's useful if you have multiple options and want to discuss community's opinions on the forum (as long as they're not related to investing).
It can be useful for predictions and some for fun challenges.

Poll means here what it means in other platforms such as Facebook. When you click on the poll widget, you can add options that people can vote for depending on the topic you want to be discussed. You can even take a look at the example that Stuart posted above.

Poll in real life, it is to select different options and for election it is to vote whom you think will win the election or contest. Example of a poll.
Who will win the forum award this year?

B. Admin
C. ContentWriter

Voters: hugeblack got 200 votes
Mate2237 got 150 votes
Admin got 160 votes
ContentWriter got 100
The person that scored the highest win the vote cast in the poll. That is the option to select someone in a contest is the meaning of a poll.it can be placed at the to of the thread or in the content of the Op.

Now I started to think you are someone's alternative account haha, as if you would be new you would not asked us to keep in mind that you are new to system bro it is like you are pushing it too much haha, I think that's not going to work, I replied to mate in the previous topic you started where you asked about password recovery.

But now I doubt you are someone's clone well, if that's the case then it is best for you to register your account with the main account otherwise admin is gonna know and things can get bad for your main account's reputation. It is just a information, just in case you don't know.
