so its a love scam as well. this seem a very common scam in my country only this time its the Chinese that's doing it.  i wonder how it goes when their accents is pretty much recognizable.

why targeting Indians, i guess Indians likes women so much that they couldn't resist and may not be able to say no to pretty woman on the photos.  and there are tons of rich indians too.

Maybe the Indians are their first targets for now. If they hadn't been caught, they would have moved to other countries to scam more people. A 14-year jail term is a very fair sentence to make them forget how to scam people further.

I wonder how people trust strangers so easily and entrust money into their care or buy into their investment ideas. With the level of scam awareness, love scams should be an outdated scam method by now. Truly, these scammers know their targets and how to get them. Probably, they have conducted research on the Indians and discovered that the perfect way to lure them into investing is through beautiful women.

So it is a romance scam, i find it hard to believe sometimes that people actually fall in love with strangers online and then they are ready to invest in a platform introduced to them by the stranger. Romance scams are very popular, but they should be easy to avoid.

In whatever means used by criminal to defraud people it remains a crime. There are people who actually move or attracted by what they see on the Internet, even many of their victims are carried away to think that what they see on the Internet are real situation until they fall a victim to these scammers.
There men/women who are light hearted to believe anything they encounter online, unfortunately, many of them don't border to ask questions before investing. They thought it is a smart way to get rich quick.
I think the criminals deserves more severe punishment to discourage others who has this criminal habits.

there are a lot of people that should try and learn more about technology and the internet if they want to keep safe a lot of elderly people are getting involved with the internet but still lack the knowledge and awareness of how dangerous the internet space can be

how much more severe are we talking? i think rather than severe punishments the authorities should invest in preventing hacks and scams from the first place as they say prevention is always better than cure besides does severe punishments actually scare criminals? they seem to just do it regardless

It's really sad. The scammers have no nation, no religion. India is indeed full of scammers. Almost 70% of the call center scammers are from India. But it is sad to see that Indian people got scammed. It is easy to scam poor people. If they are financially not well off, they are likely to be lured by fake investment programs.

Some Bangladeshi people got scammed about a year ago by their own people. A scammer created a ponzi scheme website called MTFE and people invested Billions of dollars and later got scammed. I have warned several peoples, but they did not hear me.

Its not only the Indians that they are victimizing; in fact, there are many scam hubs here in our country operated by Chinese and employing many nationalities like ours. They are victimizing Asians, Americans, Europeans, and whoever falls into their trap. Our government's term to their operation is love scam they are good in persuading people to be their lover and invest in a platform they refer.

it is unfortunate for the victims but it is good that the local court did not try to enable their citizens' wrongdoings and landed them what they think is appropriate punishment the sentence may last for 5 to 14 years do you think the punishment is too harsh or just well deserved?

I don't know why they only targeted Indians, haha, and 11 people scammed 66,000 people, that's insane. I mean, talking to each other romantically really needs a lot of stamina. I wonder how they managed to scam that many people. They must be more than 11 people, as I think only 11 got caught.

I am glad this group has been caught, because if this group were targeting Indians, there must be other groups targeting other countries too. I also received such messages on my FB and Telegram and even on Twitter but never listened to them, as it is in our favor.
