Good reference to use for OTC transactions?

What is a good reference rate use when executing a trade at a specific time? Two people trying to look at a site at the same time is flimsy.
I see Bitfinex have an hourly VWAP. CBOE and CME also have daily rates they use to settle futures. CME's seems better. Are any of these common choices? Any others to consider?

In my experience, both sides agree upon a price once escrow has received both fiat and coin. This is usually GDAX or BFX spot price if no large variances.
