Brazilian Crypto Investment Platform Atlas Quantum Suffers Data Breach

Brazilian cryptocurrency investment platform Atlas Quantum has suffered a data breach that exposed the personal details of around 261,000 of its users.Atlas added that it had disabled some of its platform features while it is investigating the incident and that it is monitoring the affected accounts to provide additional protection against fraud. It remains unclear whether the breach was an inside job or an invasion, Atlas told local media.

Have I Been Pwned, a website that records and investigates these types of data breaches, also came up with a statement, revealing that the attack affected roughly 261,000 customers. Leaked data contained names, phone numbers, email addresses, and account balances, with some 24% of the compromised data already in its database.

Atlas Quantum is an investment and trading platform, reportedly managing over $27 million in assets. It allows users to add Bitcoin (BTC) to their accounts to buy and sell on various cryptocurrency trading venues, thus making profits based on the coin’s price fluctuations and the differences in exchange rates.

The Bancor platform, one of the major decentralized exchanges for new coins and tokens, also fell victim to a hacker attack last month. Tokens worth $23.5 million were stolen from smart contracts on the network. The company later created the сrime-fighting ‘Crypto Defenders’ initiative to tackle similar cases collectively.

More recently, Polish crypto exchange Coinroom has suffered a breach at the domain level, possibly allowing hackers to phish for coins from users trying to log into the platform. Allegedly no users have suffered any losses as a result of it.
