Bitcoin wallet, worth $844 million, moves coins on the exchange
« on: September 06, 2018, 04:24:21 PM »

Bitcoin wallet containing more than 111'000 BTC, for the first time in four years showed activity, as a result of which part of the funds was transferred to the exchanges. The movement in the wallet, which contains nearly a billion dollars worth of cryptocurrency, has caused excitement and discussion in the community.

The owner of the wallet, which contains 111'114.62 BTC and BCH, currently valued at $844 million (excluding other network forks) has broken the funds into smaller pieces. A Reddit user under the nickname sick_silk writes:

The last movements in this wallet took place 4 years and 5 months ago (March 9, 2014). The assets were eventually divided into parts of 60 '000 coins, and then into 30'000, 20'000, 10'000, 5'000 and 500, and now there was a crushing on the part of 100 coins.

Further sick_silk expresses the issue that has excited many members of the community: could this be Satoshi Nakamoto? Participants in the discussion on Reddit also suggested that this wallet may belong to the organizers of the now non-existing criminal site "silk road", or the infamous crypto-exchange Mt. Gox.

Coins are sent to exchanges

Regardless of the owner, the more discussed is the reason for the transfer of funds. The creation of the wallet dates back to the beginning of summer 2014 and currently the funds are moved to at least two large crypto-exchanges. More than 11 thousand BTC, worth about 80 million dollars, has already been sent from the wallet to Bitfinex crypto-exchange, and at least another 32 million dollars in bitcoins went to Binance.

By themselves, these amounts will not have a fatal impact, however, on the bear market enthusiasts are afraid of any news that may even hint at a potential sale of BTC.
