Eth holders will not receive any free coin from the constantinople hardfork. Some tried to offer free coins before but they were all scams.

I think the benefit of Ethereum hard fork is not free coin but the platform will become proof of stake which means the more coin  miners and individual have the more profit  they will make.

No, there is no additional coins just like the bitcoin cash hardfork. It was just like a system upgrade that turns their mechanism into Proof of Stake(POS) from Proof of Work(PoW) which gives you a coin when you stake it on your wallet.

Yea, this is simply an upgrade as you rightly said, an improvement proposals (EIPs) to smooth the transition from PoW to PoS. And once there is a hard fork, they would fundamentally change the Ethereum blockchain via a host of new upgrades.

Technically, it's still a hard fork, because it won't be compatible with the previous chain and if there are some nodes who wish to run the old chain, then it will result in a chain split. It's also debatable whether the move from Pow to PoS is really better or not, at least there are people who argue PoW is better while the rest looks for PoS.

One direct advantage for investors holding ethereum is to get coins for free. So that many will take advantage of this situation to get coins for free from hardfork results.
