Ledger has launched a mobile app.
« on: January 29, 2019, 03:00:54 PM »

French manufacturer of hardware wallet for cryptocurrency Ledger has released a special mobile application for some of its products.

The transfer of Dubbed Ledger Live application to the mobile platform, which was announced in early January, is a transition from the SOFTWARE previously available only on desktop computers to mobile devices based on Android and iOS. As we wrote earlier, the application allows users of Ledger Nano X wallets to use their wallet without using a cable through a mobile device and a Bluetooth connection.

The first incarnation of the app is primarily intended for Nano X owners, while those with Older nano s or Ledger Blue wallets can currently only verify balance information, which, according to the company's blog, is called "consultation mode."

The company has promised that full functionality will be extended to all users later, but in the case of Nano S will have to use the Android phone to communicate with your wallet. Nano S does not have Bluetooth, so users will need to purchase a USB cable (OTG) by themselves. The company statement explains:

In the future, users of Ledger Nano S (only on Android smartphones) will be able to make transactions using OTG-cable. We are working on using the same features for the mobile application Ledger Live as for the desktop version.

App Ledger has some similarities with the proposals of competitors, such as interface Bridge best wallet, which the company introduced in its collection of purses last year. Currently, the best wallet is more focused on the use on desktop computers, and his "best wallet Manager" in the applications has rather limited functionality.

The development of the mobile version takes place as hardware wallets become increasingly popular among experienced investors in cryptocurrencies, who fear the security threats of so-called hot (online) wallets. Cryptocurrency exchanges continue to see user funds being hacked, while the community has recently stepped up efforts to emphasize the importance of controlling funds for non-technical users.

This week major exchange Binance unveiled the first details about the upcoming decentralized stock exchange Binance DEX will implement support for the hardware of the pursе.
