What do you mean by crypto-currency adoption?
Cryptos becoming legal tender? Then no, the world is not ready for cc adoption. I didn't hear of no country discussing about replacing its national currency with some crypto.
For example, last week the chief of the Russian Central Bank proposed to deploy a gold-backed stablecoin to settle balance of payments within the Eurasian Economic Union.
In that occasion she stressed that the proposal didn't aim to touch the role of the ruble in the Russian society.
Same same the purpose of the PM of Malaysia during an international Conference in Japan. He proposed to use a currency pegged to gold to foster economic exchange within Asian countries. But he was clear that that didn't touched the national currencies.

Growing popularity of crypto-currencies? Among people maybe, particularly the young generations.
Among businesses? Nope. In my city less than 0,1% of the shops accept cryptos as means of payment.
Among institutional entities? What is facing growing popularity in this area are not cryptos in general but Stablecoins
