Mosquitoes are really not smiling as they mean business. A lot of persons have dead from malaria and it's important to look out for ways to fight malaria. I was told in primary school to avoid stagnant water and to always sleep under a treated mosquito net

Firstly, before going to such countries, you need to get vaccinated.  Secondly, to take a spray against mosquitoes, it repels them well.
