It is too early to talk about the result of competition between bitcoin and altcoins. Bitcoin appeared in 2009, and ethereum only in 2015. Altcoins actually exist only for five years and many have already managed to overtake bitcoin in functionality. If here we mean a comparison in price, then there is no need to rush with this conclusion. Bitcoin is popular due to the fact that people expect its further price growth. What will happen to his popularity if he stops growing in price? After all, it will happen anyway. Let's see what will happen in five years, a maximum of ten.
Bitcoin is the king of all coins. I think it's an undeniable fact. I don't find any reason why bitcoin stops growing in price. I dare say if one day bitcoin dies then the whole cryptocurrency market collapses. Rather than being based on people's expectations, bitcoin is the symbol of all cryptos. Its history and spiritual value makes it on top of all coins.
I see no reason for altcoins to crash if anything happens to bitcoin. Altcoins are independent coins and tokens that may well function without the current price dominance of bitcoin. On the contrary, the market will become more mature and will not imitate the price movements of a certain cryptocurrency, as it is happening now. No one will cancel the price dominance in this market, but it will be carried out by several coins, and in this case, in many respects by the ethereum coin. But cryptocurrencies will have more freedom in their own pricing than they do now.

Alts overcoming Bitcoin should be in a more clearly elucidated scenario, if it's based on price or utility? Whatever the case may be, the concern should be based on utility and offerings of the said altcoin. More openness to coins with utility and core values should be the focus. A coin like Bitay coin which is launching soon. The utility token for Bitay exchange a leading cryptocurrency exchange in Turkey with over 700k KYC users already. 2022 would offer so much for the Alt market. Let's say the alts season is in foresight...

Why should bitcoin compete with altcoins? It's like flies with an eagle to fight, who flies higher.
The size is not the same to compare.

Actually there are some Altcoins that have a high price like Bitcoin. But when it comes to market capitalization, Bitcoin is number one and it's impossible to beat. The competition between Bitcoin and Altcoin will indeed be unbalanced, but we can choose Altcoins to make a profit. Because many Altcoins have experienced a greater increase in price when compared to the increase in the price of Bitcoin.

Bitcoin will always be more popular than altcoins, it does not need to compete with them. They just have to exist together.

It has been decades now since the Bitcoin became a popular name in the world of cryptocurrency. However, it had a slow start but eventually became a global crypto coin. All Kudos to its developer and founder, Satoshi Nakamoto who planned a whitepaper featuring the benefits that made it welcomed by people for trading. Bitcoin is the foremost crypto coin by which people came to know about cryptocurrency. They had hardly expected any technology that would become an alternative to the traditional currencies that they have been using until now. Not only it achieved worldwide fame, but it also paved the way for other alternate currencies which are known as ‘altcoins’. But despite maximum numbers, these altcoins failed to win over Bitcoin. Now, what are the reasons behind this failure? Let us know from this article.
Would there have been a reason for them to win over Bitcoin? We all know that the name BITCOIN is synonymous with CRYPTOCURRENCY so Bitcoin is like THE Cryptocurrency and I don't think in the nearest future, any Alt will win over Bitcoin at least not for now because there are many Alts and Only ONE BITCOIN.

I think no matter how good an altcoin is when it doesn't have very strong support from altcoin users it will never be able to beat the price and trading volume of bitcoin which has very high power. bitcoin can remain number one with nothing to beat.

How did you judge its failure or success? A project market cap is not exceeding the market cap of bitcoin doesn't mean it has failed. Btc hold most of the liquidity because its the very first crypto that ever build and people trust it. There are other altcoin that's price is lower than btc but its usecase is better than BTC and its rate of return is also higher in some points.

If bitcoin disappears for some reason, I see no reason why altcoins should also disappear. There will simply be a redistribution of influence in the cryptocurrency market and everything will work the same as before.
I see too much emphasis on the fact that the supply of bitcoin is capped at 21 million and that every four years there will be a halving of rewards to miners for their work. General laws, including financial ones, will work in this case too. Therefore, I do not expect too high a price of bitcoin. There will be many factors at work in interaction that will not allow bitcoin to rise too high and for a long time in price.

Yeah, I think bitcoin is the King of crypto currency because bitcoin is the pioneer of crypto currency.
Not easy to beat bitcoin market cap.
But If you talking about use case, yeah there are many altcoins are doing better than bitcoin.
But about popularity, bitcoin is still the first.

It's not easy mate, bitcoin price will always influence altcoins.
Because bitcoin is the King of crypto currency.
when bitcoin crashes, altcoins will crash too.
I don't think altcoins will exist without bitcoin, because the people know crypto because bitcoin,
they didn't know altcoins, just bitcoin.
