I don't think so, there have no control over the bitcoin, also they have no control over the whole worlds internet connection in order to stop the bitcoin or altcoins transactions, they just wish lol.

I read this post today but was written in 2017.
From this time many things are changed, starting from USA approach.
Politic people are now aware that cannot stop cryptocurrency with a simple ban, and are considering to add them to the current payment systems.

Yes a government can easily destroy bitcoin, when a government acts positively with bitcoin, it is easily determined that bitcoin will moon...

Curious, how can it do it? OK, the only one way I see here (to destroy it) is to turn the country off from the global net.

I am also curious about how governments can destroy Bitcoin easily. To be honest, I still think that it is not easy to destroy even if the governments use their power. People still can trade-buy or store Bitcoin because it is in the digital world. But maybe the possible way to stop it by stop pairing the Bitcoin with every national currency in the world.

Governments would find it difficult,perhaps even impossible,to eliminate bitcoin . But a committed government would have little trouble making bitcoin sufficiently unattractive for most users, significantly limiting bitcoin’s potential network size.

if in my opinion,
the government will not be able to destroy bitcoin, because for me bitcoin is also the most popular and there are also many who use it every day, so I think it will also be difficult.

It is difficult but not imposible, government can influence the society to take extra precaution in dealing with cryptocurrency, and later would lead to totally destroy the ecosystem. I believe government is not that serious to stop the activity of cryptocurrency because they also benefited from it.

in my opinion, the government will not be able to destroy bitcoin. bitcoin grows not because of government interference, but because of the internet network. if the government destroys bitcoin it means destroying the internet. and I think that is very unlikely.

Well government can decide to ban crypto trading in its country but can’t stop its entire operation. And it will be difficult for government to destroy bitcoin, perhaps unless all the world governments come together which is not possible.

We should decide on what do we mean by saying "destroy". I think that the biggest harm that any government can bring to local Bitcoin users is to criminalize any Bitcoin-related activity and punish these "crimes" with serious punishments (several years of prison, and so on). Such a policy can lead to the abandonment of the Bitcoin network by most of the people although some risky users will keep on using Bitcoin regardless of the law.

Summarizing I would say that in any country there will be some people using Bitcoin, and the government cannot "destroy" or control Bitcoin totally although authorities can damage the local Bitcoin community significantly.

Although the governments have influence on the market because the people listen to the government, the governments cannot destroy Bitcoin entirely. Bitcoin is decentralized and this means that no central authoritative body has absolute control over it's transactions and other related activities. Bitcoin can only be destroyed by its users when all users decide to stop using it, which is apparently not going to happen.

I don’t think that this is real) how they can destroy it if it doesn’t belong to them, this is what Bitcoin is interesting for the population because it is decentralized, and people can pay for it independently without government intervention

The government can destroy bitcoin by 3 ways:
- Making fiat money protection policies, not accepting BTC as money or goods, prohibiting all activities related to the BTC;
- Create events to cause fear and hatred for BTC;
- Build quantum computers to exploit and attack (not 51%, but 99%) the BTC network on a global scale ^^

If the country wants to do that, I think the country will get a lot of resistance from the cryptocurrency community.
Until now, transactions using bitcoin are still rejected by some countries, therefore there is no way to destroy bitcoin other than they prohibit transactions using Bitcoin.
