As far as I know the scam issue is not just the DeFi projects because even before the DeFi hype there had been scammers stealing investors money. For me we should become extra careful by our choices before investing. It is good to support the real project and not scammers team.

Everyone wants to make money on this hype, projects want to make money on it, they lay out raw contracts.
Contracts are broken. And money is lost.
