Well, aside from ethereum there are many altcoins competing bitcoin but in the end it resulted to nothing.

No I think bitcoin has many competitor with many advantages. the competitor of bitcoin is more potential. Like ethereum, Litecoin and ripple.

There's always be a competition at cryptocurrency even though they have different purposes and technology. If the project has no innovations it will be left behind and could end-up to nothing and will sink that never floats again. Every good thing has no competitor. Ethereum can be like bitcoin but I don't see ethereum as bitcoin's competitor.

In term of technology, many coins are better than both bitcoin and Ethereum in the market. But ethereum and especially Bitcoin have a great reputation and are known by almost everyone. I think these two coin will continue to exist for a long time. ON the other hand, in the future, other coins may have a wider usage.
