I try to dig deeper as what clone site one user fall for, and I found this:

So that you know, the domain bio doesn't tell too much information except possibly how old it is. Even that doesn't have to be relevant because a serious market deals with aged domains. So buying a domain that was first registered 10 or more years ago is possible.
Also, almost every registrar offers free whois protection, so we can't draw any conclusions from that either.

It could be relevant as scammers might not be willing to pay that top and premium money for a 10 year old domain. They wanted it very cheap and quick and then once they are caught, rinse and repeat.

So it might be better to look at the age of the site as well and it could be relevant to those who want to track everything. Just like in this case here, it's pretty obvious that the real and legit website is much older, IMHO.

I am saying that because as you can see, there are a couple of clone reports. Scammers usually clone popular mixers so they can attract more users. Cloning Thorminer is proving that they are becoming popular every day and the scammer has to choose them. But, I don't think official team can do much about it except give a warning to their community and loyal users about it.

Honestly, many people want privacy but do not want to pay the price for the privacy. Yeah. I know that buddy. I remember a single platform named CM has more than twenty clones and all of them are scams. There was a list of CM clones and that was incredibly long. Whoever makes a list, should make it unclickable. Because people are extremely lazy to read what was written and they may think it is the mirror of the official site.

But the thing I was talking about was the success rate. People are going to copy you only when they see that you become popular. People trying to copy you means you have some popularity. But I hope the number of phishing/clones reduce and people do not get scammed.

The incident of clone sites is not new to us and most especially mixer which have been center subject of regulatory framework that have taken down quite a good number pf bitcoin mixers projects that go involved with scams, and as that have become regular occurrence,  it is important for mixer team to demise a way to protect their project from every possible case of clone that could affect the reputation of the main site., also I believe thormixer team will do everything possible to protect their image from being stolen by scammers.

But then also in as much as that be the realities we as users should be able to check things out and knowing exactly what we expect as a standard operation of a legit mixer and shady ones, that way we can make our decisions on time wether to be part of that service or not.

Even those who are in the business of domain purchasing and selling prefer to buy domain names at cheaper rates and sell those at higher rates later on.

So if they paid like premium dollars to a old website, the ROI is not there.

They would have to buy thousands of domains and again it is not certain that they would remain protected. Even if you register all available domains with the name "thormixer", for example, you would have to have a variation where the letter "l" is instead of "i". Scammers are very inventive and it is difficult to prevent all risks.

Yes, that's true but the ones who have their mixer services should at least think about purchasing gTLDs as those can be used for malicious purposes most of the times. gTLDs like .com, .org, .net, .info should be purchased to prevent those scammers and one may also purchase top level TLDs as those can be also used for malicious purposes. It's not possible to purchase each type of domain name as that would increase the cost per year to so huge levels but those top and good TLD purchasing could be a valuable strategy in long run.

Well, it is not possible to buy all the related domains but the few major ones. When I registered my business with the .com extension, I was offered the .org and .net extensions for a much cheaper price and I secured the other two. So, getting .com, .org, .net and .io at same time will not cost much. It will certainly not stop scam site but their options will be reduced as other unpopular extension names don't rank high in search engines.

Well, it is not possible to buy all the related domains but the few major ones. When I registered my business with the .com extension, I was offered the .org and .net extensions for a much cheaper price and I secured the other two. I agree with you on that, because by buying up all the domains names will indeed reduce the possibility of site cloning in a great deal because if a user is careful there won't be any possibility of getting scammed by those scammers that creats similar sites to genuine ones.

I think this suggestion is a great one to the thormix team because as you mentioned KingsDen I cheaper getting all the package since the team already secured the most expensive among the domain's which is .com.

this is Punycode phishing attack not homograph attack, but you can easily prevent it by updating your browser, as modern browsers come with some protection features against this type of attack, and you can modify your browser settings to prevent such attacks.
