At the moment I have a samsung galaxy 8 and an ipad mini

I amd upgrading to a samsung galaxy 9 ultra and an ipad pro .

the sammy arrives in under a week.
I have iPad mini 6 and Samsung galaxy A8 tablet and those two are more than enough for me to have some fun by watching movies and TV shows and at the same time I can read books and articles on those tablets.

I used to use iPad mini 6 as a pc by connecting mouse and keyboard to it with the help of a dongle and then displaying it over type c to my monitor. But, now I don't use it for that purpose any more.

It's true that if you can have other devices and not focus on one, you will clearly benefit because you can look for and use alternatives if there is a problem with your device.
I have also been a loyal Samsung user until now, and it is true that you said that the main weakness is that the battery on it heats up quickly and runs out easily and has to be recharged to be stable again.
The problem is that sometimes, when we replace the battery on a Samsung, it really can't be done because the product we are using is no longer updated, and the battery is no longer produced, so we are forced to replace the cellphone with a new product.
Replacement is always the option to such a situation when it becomes frustrating. You can not be experiencing such continuously and still remain in such situations unless you want to keep missing out. I have been a loyal user of Samsung products. I use virtually all Samsung products but for phone, I had to do the needful because it is what I mostly engage myself it when it comes to activities and follow up. You can imagine you trading and all of a sudden you start experiencing draining battery. It is very frustrating and you know how it feels in situations as this.
There is no other alternative that can be done other than having to replace it with a new product, because the replacement device is not available, so that is the best alternative. Otherwise we will be confused by this situation.
You are the same as me. I am a loyal user of electronics, but specifically for cellphones there are always problems,
It is clear that if happens to a battery is drained when you are doing business or doing any work, then you will be very disappointed to have to be disturbed because the battery runs out. Of course, this is something that is very annoying.

Smart cell phones are a terrible security risk.

But the world has adopted them and we all suffer from them.

I finally picked up a new ipad air. So I now have the samsung s9 ultra tablet along with the basic ipad air. Yeah I have cellphones but I don’t like them due to security risks.

Smart phones were all designed with security features and as such tends to face some security challenges and it is only left for the users to factor out ways and measures to keep their gadgets always safe and void of security porosity that could endanger their information and details.
So therefore, the manufacturers always do their best to always update the security features of their phones version so that users could update them and be current with the security features to keep their phones safe and secured from  cyber attacks and lots more.

A pointed to your head pretty much overides passwords thumb prints and retina scans.  but if the phone could only make a phone call and take a photo it would no longer be an attractive target.

Yes you are right. Hackers tends to figure out gadgets that are highly sophisticated and looking for ways to launch am attack because they know there is every possibility that such  gadget is highly loaded with information and details that could fetch them reasonable amount of money and other things that they are looking for. So they tend to send whatever they deem fit to the phone user to gain access to the gadget but when a phone is only there for calls and pictures, there is every possibility that such gadget holds nothing in return so in that case would not be a target to avoid wasting of time and resources.

None, I use phone. Though, recently I have had thoughts about experimenting with iPad because have heard good stuff about them in performance, but current
market conditions made me invest instead of on thing that isn't really a need.
Just like you, I also don't need one and only use a cellphone to receive information and so on, but in the past I also used an iPad, but it has expired because it is no longer updated, in my opinion. In the current situation, actually it would be very helpful to have one compared to a laptop., I think that's more practical.
But everyone may not be the same and have their own preferences and that's normal.
Indeed, if you compare funds for investments like yours, it is certainly very good, but both can also be even better.
