This is a landmark case, and this early it picture France as a country with an oppressive president, and this is bad for the reputation of a country considered a bastion of freedom in the old days.

Any country can arrest Durov but not France, Macron do not represent his country's legacy. I see the world pressuring Macron to drop all the charges and let Durov leave France.

There is news that Dubai has canceled a multi-billion-dollar jet deal with France. The media is claiming that this happened after the arrest of Pavel Durov, a Dubai citizen, and that they ended the deal because they were unhappy with how he was treated. Really? Is it that easy to end deals just because of a citizen?

Anyway, I know this is just an excuse the real reason could be anything. The president made it clear that there is no political interest involved. First of all, we have to ask why governments would be involved at this level. Don’t they have better things to do? Haha. Privacy is a big issue, as is sharing confidential information. The hunt for Durov was too much, but unfortunately, he did not hire good planners.

Many people against of this arrest since they think its against the free speech of people which is reasonable reason.

Yes, unfortunately, this is what France has become. I am talking about the past when France was a symbol of freedom in the world, but today the situation has changed.

I don't know what time are you talking about? Why would France be a symbol of freedom more than Germany, Denmark or Poland or some other country of the European Union? As far as I know, millions of migrants live in France and they have all possible rights, the police don't walk the streets and beat women and children, freedom of speech is guaranteed to everyone, even those who use that freedom of speech for purposes that I find extremely unacceptable, whether it's about mocking Islam, or Christianity, as was the case at the Olympics.

the news about Durov will even die down from now on. he may be staying in France for a long time from now on, he isn't allowed to fly afaik. that guy will be fighting cases he never knew existed and will be jailed  unless he trades what he got.

According to the French authorities, the Telegram boss was arrested because of failure to regulate his messaging platform and that it has been used for illicit activities and for promoting sexual activities relating to minors. We don't know if all of these allegations are true or if the French authorities are attacking free speech, but we would find out at the end of this case.

Unfortunately, there is hypocrisy and double standards policy used by Western countries and the United States, when it comes to arbitrary practices in another country such as Russia, China, Iran or the Middle East, the American and Western media exaggerate the event and all hell breaks loose. However, if it is the opposite, the major media black out the news.

Let's say for example that Durov was arrested in Russia or Iran instead of France, what would happen? I am sure the Western media would make a big fuss and France would probably be at the forefront of countries demanding Durov's freedom .

This will be considered a landmark case, Durov is just stubborn not to submit to government pressure because he believes that the cryptocurrency community is supportive of his cause and he will eventually be acquitted on all the charges, or if they find something that will make Durov guilty they will strike a deal for him to be freed because the France cannot keep up with the pressure of holding him and he is a big liability to the country's interest as a freedom loving country.

France is not stupid, no matter how clean and transparent he has been, there is one or two things he might have done deliberately or not, there is one that he can be proven guilty. There is no way you can own a company without offending the government especially when they don't like you, it's the people they like they always cover that's why good relationship matters with the government sometimes.

The only thing I don't like about this France government is how they are hanging the matter. They are treating him like he is a bad person or someone they have been hunting for many years. I don't like it when government are too involved in things, this is why Mark Zuckerberg suck their ass everyday just to remain relevant in the tech market.

However, where is the trial going to be held? In France, can Durov be assured that it will be a fair trial for him? Or this is just a kangaroo court that Durov has been found guilty already by the court and they are just going to the motions of it.

Says the man who earned $15 billion from that job, at least from what he publicly admits. I understand that people see him as some kind of freedom fighter or something, but he is far from that, especially if the accusations are true that he knew and did nothing to remove the channels that served for child abuse and pedophilia, and he did not enabled the authorities to bring these people to justice.

It should be clearly said that he was arrested on the territory of France, but that some European countries also had similar demands towards Telegram, which are persistently ignored. The right to freedom of communication cannot protect anyone who engages in any illegal activities, and therefore cannot justify someone who protects such people under the pretext of basic human rights.
