Why are airdrop projects underperforming lately ?

I don't do a lot of math so as not to get frustrated later, but of all the ones I'm participating in I hope to at least get around 1.5k USD combined
That would be a “fair” reward for the effort and risk I took farming these protocols.

I am no longer working here after getting frustrated with a lot of farming airdrops because i spent a lot of time on telegram gaming airdrops in 2024. But i have completely moved away from telegram because most of the projects coming from telegram are now scams or are dying quickly. However, you may have had a huge referral community in your bag due to which you were able to earn a big amount of money. However, i was able to earn a maximum of $10-$20 from telegram airdrops. Anyway currently i am participating in some web airdrops and testnets in an attempt to earn some money.

Actually airdrops used to be a terrific way to get into strong projects early but now it feels like most of them just use consumers for hype and give out tiny gifts that barely count. I’ve also seen that many of these ideas don’t have strong use cases or long term value, therefore investors lose interest soon. It might be that there are too many people chasing airdrops and not enough real funding behind the projects. At this time I think it makes more sense to focus on fewer but higher quality projects instead of chasing every drop.

Aidrops ae just simple way of making marketing into crypto mind of people that are already on another project. No way you will want to share $50 to different people and they wouldn't be aware about your project that's why people toll date remember Arbitrum team for their kind gesture of airdrop they did even Aptos too.

However, it has been diluted, we now have more number of people that are chasing the bag than the people that are chasing the airdrop and the reward is too small, even the team are exploiting it to on board millions of user to later give useless rewards.

Of course, it's very good what you might get because the results are very encouraging. Maybe no one will be able to produce as much as you, because so far, it has been very difficult to get good results from airdrops.
It must be admitted that airdrops currently only benefit Devs, and it is rare to get results like you get, so be happy who have received results from airdrops and I myself have never had any surprises from airdrops.

So true, mate; other than that, I think you are misunderstanding his saying because he was expecting to get that reward, but he has not yet gotten this expected reward. Well, as part of mine here, I also have never gotten surprising rewards from any airdrop project. I don't remember the exact figure of rewards that I got from the airdrop, but just for an idea, it can be near $100 or something above that, hehe.

I have joined many airdrops in the past, but today I feel that the majority of them were just a waste of time because, you also know, I know how much time these airdrops take to complete their tasks. Some are on a daily basis, some are of other kinda and some are based on social activities. After all that, when you receive any $5 to $10, then you can imagine how frustrating it is, hehe.

The biggest reason why projects that run airdrops usually underperform or go straight down the line after they launch their coins and get listed is because those who get into these projects are all free-mealers, which means that they are not into those projects because they support them or plan to support them in the long run, but they are into them because they want to get some free money, and as soon as that happens, they dump their share and get to their next target.

Projects will only have long-term sustainability if they get real supporters, supporters who will buy and hold or just trade their coins or tokens because they want to support the project and not just support them to get some benefits themselves and then abandon the project completely.

Those projects tend to have a higher success rate that don't do airdrops but build their communities with their use cases and other services that they provide.

Because all of the airdrop project goes on the based on the hype, for example on the 2024 we saw multiple airdrop project but most of them where become failed project, and if you ask me I didn't even see only one project which get success.
And if you look around in current days then you will also see that the Hype already gone over this is the reason why airdrop projects are underperforming in current days.
