I sold mine since last year around this April also. But I still do have a fraction of it not even importing that wallet anymore.

It was disappointing that price didn't go up after it pump more  than 4k anymore and the more people saying something about it being POS makes me wanna send it all to USDT, I do have few ERC20 tokens though so if ever ETH goes 5k, these tokens might also be big as well. So I'm keeping these tokens still.

Ethereum has been bothering me for the past year. At some point, I needed cash and decided to liquidate it. If I remember correctly, it was around $3400 at that point. I was probably lucky in everything because after that, ETH just kept sinking.

I currently have an almost insignificant amount, but I decided not to consider it an option when diversifying my portfolio. Will hold Ethereum only as long as I have to.

I'm pretty sure Ethereum's best days are over, and it will at best stay at the value it has had for the last year.

Does anyone more experienced have any reasons why I might be thinking wrongly?
I'm not intending to give any buy, hold, or sell advice for any tokens in the market, especially for an experienced investor in the market like you. I'm just sharing my perspective as a regular ETH holder.

Despite the current issues regarding the decrease in on-chain transaction volume and the ongoing token inflation with Ethereum, I believe ETH still holds a leading position in the world of ALTs and determines the success of the altseason in this cycle. Institutions with tokenization needs are still only looking for solutions on Ethereum, whales still love accumulating ETH, and currently, besides the BTC Spot ETF, traditional investors are still only really interested in the ETH Spot ETF.

I think whales are still manipulating the altseason by suppressing the ETH price at the bottom. ETH will not become a failed token in this cycle, meaning the ETH price will definitely increase in the near future as soon as the market becomes more positive. I'm still holding some ETH with optimism instead of worry ^^

Yes, let me make it clear to you that, at some point, Holding certain coin/tokens without following the market trends, especially the Bitcoin market trends may be very boring, and it is very important for those that may be holding for short term to learn this strategy, however, the long term holders may have no business on how the market is trending because they are suppose to sell in the future irrespective of the the market dips or dumps. This is my opinion

You are not thinking wrongly. The decision you made on Ethereum to lay it off your portfolio is a right one. Nobody would like to hodl any coin that is not making any price progression to hit another ATH while Bitcoin and some other top coins have given a new ATH this year and last year.

It was years back that I was a fan of Eth. Knowing that it has been stagnant at a particular range of price for years($1500k-$3500k) makes me dislike hodling it

An interesting meme is circulating these days, which confirms that I am not the only one who thinks in this direction when it comes to Ethereum.

That is a little bit funny...imagine inducting Ethereum into the club whose membership includes Nokia and Explorer...maybe Kodak and Yahoo should also be there. Seriously though, maybe Ethereum is not yet in that category and there is still that chance of a resurgence soon, who knows what can be. What is certain is that there is really a big problem with Ethereum and there is a big challenge for it to correct everything and not just use a band-aid. I still believe in Ethereum though I admit it am getting discouraged, seems to me that Vitalik Buterin team is not doing enough or maybe they have already dried up their creative juices.

I still have a large ethereum stash, bought at 300 in 2017.

I sold some for 4k in 2021, and didn't sold anything in the current cycle

I am now considering selling some at 3500 zone ,if it ever comes back.

However,  I don't see a clear replacement for ethereum. Solana looks just a memecoin hub to me, while important projects are still in ethereum chain.

I won't give you any advice on what to do, it's just my experience that I've had a lot of luck with converting from ETH to BTC over time. I was tired of the fact that nothing happens or that it moves very slowly, one step forward and two steps back.
I would say that the free fall began with the transition from POW to POS.

However,  I don't see a clear replacement for ethereum. Solana looks just a memecoin hub to me, while important projects are still in ethereum chain.
We'll see. And Ethereum started as a base for the ICO mania, which later turned into a scam. Today, ETH maintains several popular and widely used tokens like USDT. For example, a lot of work is being done on Solana now, there is a high probability that some useful token will be created in that pile.

There is too much hype on solana, but if you look at the charts, its performance isnt that good.

The ATH was 260 in 2021, and it is now about 40% down, just like ETH. Both charts are very similar. Looks almost the same coin (both same time range)

Ok, it had a better perfomance when you look the past year only, but I don't think this means a lot. I look at the long term, and 1y investment is very small period.

I agree that ICO turned into scams, but memecoins are scams just the same...

Some time ago I bought some AI projects. All coins where in ETH blockchain, none in solana (of the ones I was looking for).

I think serious projects are still in eth for the most part... This is one reason I am still holding it. I wouldn't move to solana, specially now that Trump is doing crazy stuff, so American coins doesnt mean a lot anymore.... (IMO)

It's a big disappointment indeed. I mean when Bitcoin's price goes up, Ethereum is just moving sideways, but when Bitcoin goes down, Ethereum goes down even more which makes Ethereum very disappointing to those who are holding it. Maybe one reason why Ethereum remained stagnant was the meme coin hype around Solana because the altcoin market became diluted, and a huge portion of money that's supposed to be invested into the top altcoins went into these new meme coins on Solana blockchain.

It was disappointing, but I'm thinking of any reason why I don't want to hold some ETH for long term and.... and... I can't think of any huge reason at all.  :(

However,  I don't see a clear replacement for ethereum. Solana looks just a memecoin hub to me, while important projects are still in ethereum chain.
While Solana had some good projects, Ethereum is still at the top. Like you, I can't think of any altcoin that can replace Ethereum as a good long term to hold. Solana might be the closest, but not as close as many are thinking. It just became popular because of the meme coin hype around pump.fun.

While Solana had some good projects, Ethereum is still at the top. Like you, I can't think of any altcoin that can replace Ethereum as a good long term to hold. Solana might be the closest, but not as close as many are thinking. It just became popular because of the meme coin hype around pump.fun.

Yeah, and solana is as far from its All Time High  as ethereum is.
I don't get why everyone is so optimistic about sol and so pessimistic about ethereum... people think so much short term.

Seems that you can use other tokens with value. I am trying to confirm this.

If you use metamask wallet you can pay with other coins. When you move value

So it is not free.

Usdc and usdt are acceptable.

So if i have 2 ETH to send,a person I can pay the fee in usdc or usdt
Yes, you're right. The news is that Ethereum is no longer required for token transactions.

Ethereum still has an active community, an ETF, and some use cases, in addition to the potential for blockchain use in DeFi and stablecoins, but there is inevitably stiff competition from some altcoins.
Buying now wouldn't be a bad idea, as the price is nearly at its bottom, but Ethereum's value against Bitcoin is falling sharply, so Bitcoin is performing better than Ethereum, and it's not considered *diversification.*
An interesting meme is circulating these days, which confirms that I am not the only one who thinks in this direction when it comes to Ethereum.

I love that photo.

Meanwhile my solana is pulling 7%

I grabbed it in the 97-140 price range I think my cost basis is around 120 for my 5 coins

For any intending investors, they may find a suitable entry for them to enter and buy the dip, hold till it pumps, while for those that have been existing holders, they may sell if they cant afford holding any longer, but i still want to believe that Ethereum season is coming sooner, this may be a shocking news to some of us because it may happened when we least expected it, if we want to invest for a long time, we may still consider it and buy it at dip, but if we are trading and cant go by its way of performance, then we consider on other coins.
