Beware of telegram scammers, yet another scam attempt
« on: May 07, 2025, 09:14:47 PM »
The title says it all. Today I was approached by an unknown person on telegram who claims to be a reseller of telegram usernames. He offered me a total sum of 8K USDT for my username. Being aware of this method of scamming I decided to troll this guy a bit, pretending to know nothing. Note that my username isn't of anything significant, I just used some words and set it.

Upon doing a reverse search on the scammers account, I was able to acquire these information. The fact that he is using a TG premium and an old account makes him more realistic. These guys are trying hard to make themselves look genuine.

Scammers Account:

  - Full Name: Zane Walker
  - User ID: 6735436235
  - Username: @ZaneWalkerBuy
  - Premium User: Yes
  - Data Center: 1 (Miami, USA))
  - Account Created On: October 01, 2023
  - Account Age: 1 years, 7 months

This is why everyone should be caution when dealing with something related to telegram, especially the newbies. You never know what might be lurking in the shadow. To be honest, I would have fallen for this trick, if I hadn't known this method. But thanks to both the forums and group of good people, who are constantly giving us reminders and making us aware of these scam methods.

Like I always say the easiest way to actually fall for a scam is to be greedy. This is because one of the most common ways to spot a scam attempt is the fact that the offers are usually too good to be true.

Come to think of it why would someone actually want to pay that much just for a telegram username? The whole stuff actually doesn't add up and that's how you actually spot a scam.

He is Real scammer there has no doubt. He offered $8k it is just impossible. I think when you will enter his provided gemspace link and creat a account by your details then your device and your details will be hacked i strongly believe it. So we have to more consus and careful to avoid this kinds of scam..

I heard about this scam trick years back; I am surprised they have come back with it to get a new set of people that will fall for their scam.

On proper reasoning, someone telling you to sell your telegram username to them for $8k doesn't it sound strange to be true? When you the person can't earn up to $50 with your telegram username.

I also encounter this kind of scam. This time I believe they are really telling the truth because the offer seem to be real, offering just $200.
On the buy and sell website where people bid for the usernames. This kind of platform definitely a way to lower your guard that you may really be selling your account.

I think the platform like gemspace.io could be in cohorts with them or probably wants to market gemspace.io

The $8k unrealistic value would be true only if you were a famous person. But I believe most of us who got this kind of offers aren't.. :P

Yes they used to use fragment (not the real one, of course). But now it's look like they are changing escrow sites. I did a domain lookup on gamespace and the site is relatively new.

snip

I believe these sites are operated by the scammers themselves. And they use them to generate fake bidding and transactions in order to make it believable.

What $200? The scammer offered me $8k.. ???

This is why everyone should be caution when dealing with something related to telegram, especially the newbies. You never know what might be lurking in the shadow. To be honest, I would have fallen for this trick, if I hadn't known this method. But thanks to both the forums and group of good people, who are constantly giving us reminders and making us aware of these scam methods.
Thank you for alerting us to this scam on Telegram. It's new to me. I get contacted by a lot of scammers with various excuses, but I've never had anyone offer to buy my username.

But the method seems a bit strange, and I don't quite understand how the scam could have happened in this case. I mean, let's assume you accepted the scammer's offer to buy your Telegram username and created a GameSpace account. How would the scammer be able to defraud you? Do you have any thoughts on this?

The first rule is never deal on telegram!
The second rule is never deal on telegram!
And the third rule never deal on telegram!

As for defrauding, they are trying to get your username without paying anything. There isn't any monetary loss here, but your identity is at risk. I believe they will use the account linked to your username to scam users connected to you. Imagine if a scammer acquired a famous person's username! Even before the owner can react and make everyone aware, the scam will likely have already happened.

I think they are specifically targeting users from crypto related groups, especially groups belonging to campaign managers. I say this because many users who reported this are either from the forum or are in these groups. After acquiring our usernames, they are likely to clone the owner and send messages to group members, asking for money. I can't think of any other explanation other than this at this moment.

You're right. Most of the scammers who tried to contact me were from cryptocurrency-related groups or exchanges, claiming to be support staff, offering assistance, or offering a guaranteed way to make a lot of money, or other such stupid scams.

However, these scams have become outdated for long-time users, But unfortunately, new users often fall victim to these scammers.

They are lurking on forums and they could be a long time user of crypto too. They always offer USDT and TON as payment which they really are aware of how to use cryptocurrency. The most interesting is that they want you to sell on the platform like gamespace, was the platform real or just the scammer owns this platform?

The first two are as important as the third one. Always keep that in mind. ;D

Obviously they will be looking for crypto users because scamming here is easy if the user isn't careful enough. One wrong click and your whole wallet gets drained. There isn't any hassle like those tech support scams, amazon/microsoft support scams that we watch on youtube. Scammer loves easy money, and targeting newbies is the easiest one.
