People say altcoins won't survive

Different altcoins have different popularity, some will survive, some will disappear. That happens each year.

I think its a cheap talking, because no one knows how it will be, but we can only wish that someone of them stayed

Of course a lot of altcoins will disappear again, we don't need 2500 coins, some will merge and some is a scam. The perfect number of coins will be between 50 to 100 different coins.

There seems to be an explosion of BTC maximalists this last bit slamming alts every chance they get.

Alts are driving innovation and constantly bringing new things to the table, they are not going anywhere. Of course some will fail, it is not an easy thing to do.

They are somewhat right you know. Launching a ICO is not easy and even if you launch one, there is no guarantee about its success. I was reading somewhere that more than 90% of 2018 ICO failed to attain the objectives set by them. You need to invest smartly.

I think it's true that altcoin is currently experiencing a decline. And I agree because everyone has a different view. Some say coins / tokens A are good but some say the opposite. I think the advantages and disadvantages are in each other's hands

most altcoins will die because most altcoins are a scam or useless projects and that is a fact but strong solid altcoins will not just die because they usually have what it takes to survive, I know that there are some altcoins suffering right now like NEM but I am pretty sure NEM will find a way out because it is not just another useless coin.

I think the altcoin will last longer, because now market price developments are also increasing compared to 2018. so I hope this year the altcoin price will also recover soon.

Perhaps. I hope the same for the Bitcoin too, but so far it has not happened.

Yea, i think most of these statement are just wishfull thinking, and this may not happen soon. One thing of note here is that many of these coins brings in competition into the market; the fewer they are, the lesser the competition will be.
I actually think that many coins will go but remember that till date, many projects are still being lunched on a daily bases and i wonder when will some of them disappear as some people are saying.

I do not believe that all altcoins would die any way.
But if you look critically into the Cryptocurrency market of late , you would discover to your amazement that some altcoins that do not have any usecases and whose team do not even know how to work on the project are gradually fading off from the market especially since the bearing trend of last year.

That is only natural and I actually thing it is a good thing. That way only the worthwhile projects will remain.

I think that is what most people believe as it makes sense, especially consider the way the market has developed so far.
