Are you really interested in the future of blockchain/crypto?
« on: January 22, 2024, 09:22:25 PM »
The blockchain and crypto space has captured the attention of many, including my friends and acquaintances. They are actively investing in crypto, spending significant amounts on investment courses that cover various methodologies, from fundamental analysis to technical analysis. They are even encouraging their children to pursue careers in blockchain development, anticipating lucrative opportunities in the field.

Our conversations often revolve around these topics, starting with the weather, transitioning to blockchain, and concluding with crypto. Most people are optimistic about the upcoming bull market in 2025, believing it will provide an opportunity to sell their Bitcoin holdings at prices as high as 10K USD or 200K USD.

However, I've noticed a concerning trend: people are primarily driven by profit motives rather than a genuine interest in blockchain technology and its transformative potential. They seem to equate a rising token price with a superior blockchain project, and vice versa. After cashing out their profits, they often abandon interest in the project's development, even hoping for a token price decline to avoid regret  :P

It's ironic that blockchain technology was initially hailed as a potential game-changer, yet many individuals remain indifferent to its intricacies and ultimately value it solely based on financial gains  ::)

For my part, I'm involved in the market primarily to supplement my income from translation work. While I'm not a smart contract developer or a crypto project founder, I'm at least mindful of not judging a project solely based on its token price. I don't consider myself an investor in technology, but I do appreciate the potential of blockchain to revolutionize various industries.

What are your thoughts on this matter, please share your opinion:
  • Do you primarily enter the market for technology or profit-driven reasons?
  • Are you genuinely interested in the future of blockchain and crypto?
  • Do you tend to detach yourself from a project after selling its tokens?

Honestly, I think we're a long way from the blockchain era. Currently we are not seeing widespread adoption of blockchain in the enterprise, and real demand for the value that blockchain brings is still very low. Therefore, I think that the crypto market is closer to the financial market than the technology market.

1. I joined this market with the purpose of finding profits, not to support money for technology #DevelopmentTeam s.
2. To me, blockchain and crypto are just two sides of the same coin, and I believe in their future in our lives, including technology and finance.
3. Honestly, yes. I seek profit, so after selling a token, I will focus on monitoring the market and looking for other profitable opportunities. If that project is good enough, I will follow and find good entries in the next crypto winter.

It's ironic that blockchain technology was initially hailed as a potential game-changer, yet many individuals remain indifferent to its intricacies and ultimately value it solely based on financial gains  ::)
I don't think it is surprising though. I mean even from the beginning Bitcoin was designed with an incentive in hand, from fees, block rewards, etc so it is also naive to hope that everyone participates in the network willingly. It will make it prone to attacks if that is the case since nobody has any strong reason to protect the network. I don't think satoshi hopes everyone who uses the network will completely disregard other platforms either. People do something because it gives them benefits in the end, that's just human behavior. And nobody is that privileged that wealth is no longer their concern so they can freely sue their resources to run a node forever.

    • Do you primarily enter the market for technology or profit-driven reasons?
    • Are you genuinely interested in the future of blockchain and crypto?
    • Do you tend to detach yourself from a project after selling its tokens?

    1. I think both apply to me, I need a secure and relatively fast transaction network that I can use without giving a lot of personal info, so I'd definitely follow any development on that front. On the other hand, looking at a dead project is not interesting.
    2. What do you mean by genuine? Free from any personal/financial motive? Why is it important though? While I have some 'ulterior' motives, I'm not the government that has some elaborate plan to control the masses or something else. I think everybody can have that motive in this market. You definitely need to be aware of some influencers though. CMIIW.
    3. Depends really. If the idea is interesting and the team still give updates that I can verify, probably not.

-I first got to know cryptocurrency just because I wanted to get extra funds from my job as a factory worker, but as I got here I hoped I could continue to understand cryptocurrency and blockchain, at least I could make tokens from Binance Smart Chain (BSC).
-Very interested because apart from getting additional funds, I have many friends on the altcoinstalks forum, especially those who really understand how blockchain works.
-Partly I did not leave the project because I still trust those who focus on continuing to develop the project, for example Abritrum and Optimism.

It's ironic that blockchain technology was initially hailed as a potential game-changer, yet many individuals remain indifferent to its intricacies and ultimately value it solely based on financial gains  ::)

I think you are duplicating Spasybo's point in BTC Spot ETF is market poison?  :D
    Quote
Losing the historical mission of Bitcoin: In 2008, Satoshi Nakamoto introduced Bitcoin as a method for people to have the right to self-custody of money, not dependent on third parties, escaping the traditional financial model that has a lot of problems.

I'm going to address your point from the point of view of a gold person: many crypto people don't know it but at the beginning the most ardent believers of cryptocurrencies were gold people
There were great synergies between the gold community and the crypto community.

Gold people think that fiat currencies - in the way that they are managed today - are corrupted money.
Fiat is bad money because it loses its purchasing power, making people poor.
It's a bad store of value.
Gold people talk about sound money. For them gold is the most sound money.
They believed in Bitcoin because just as gold it can't get issued arbitrarily.

The second reason why gold people believed in cryptocurrencies was that... they don't like banks  :D
Gold people tend to be libertarians, so on one hand they don't like that each time they use their money - sending or receiving - they need the permission of a bank, and on the other hand they don't like their transactions to be controlled.
Cryptos were seen as a way - P2P - to avoid banks.

    So where are we now?
As you and Spasybo say, cryptocurrencies are less used as currencies - as a means of payment - and more used as a way to make money, so...
... gold people hate cryptos - you can't imagine how much s**t I take in the gold forums when I mention gold-backed stablecoins...
... crypto people despise gold - "blockchain vs. a rock?" - and everything which is associated with it - including... yes you are right... gold-backed stablecoins!  :D

    • Do you primarily enter the market for technology or profit-driven reasons?
    • Are you genuinely interested in the future of blockchain and crypto?
    • Do you tend to detach yourself from a project after selling its tokens?
It was 2016 when I first learned about Bitcoin from Bitcointalk forum. I was mainly trying to purchase and sell some digital goods and for that reason I made various searches on Google that took me to Bitcointalk forum.

Once I start reading various forum posts about Bitcoin and then about altcoins, I found that the crypto-currencies especially Bitcoin can be very useful for us. In initial days I lost access to some of my wallets and lost funds but slowly I start learning about Bitcoin and how it works.

But, things changed overtime and now I'm very active in learning about Bitcoin and other well known blockchains. I think I agree with you that most people are into crypto-currencies for the sake of profits only and they don't really care much about their features.

I personally never detach myself from the projects even if I sell their tokens but surely as a trader I often buy and sell tokens for the sake of profits only but still that doesn't mean that I don't find protentional of a project.

Me too, I also buy and sell the tokens.
Learn project at early, sometime buy at pre sale.
I care the projects, but I prefer gain profit.
As trader and holder , I have done it.
If there is potential project, I will buy more when drop and sell when tokens go up.
    For me, crypto is business.
    Profits is always become priority.

    • Do you primarily enter the market for technology or profit-driven reasons?
    • Are you genuinely interested in the future of blockchain and crypto?
    • Do you tend to detach yourself from a project after selling its tokens?
1: It totally depends on projects. there are so many projects I joined. so many tokens I invested.. I got some of them because of the technology and most of them because of the profit driven reasons. i think most people join crypto or invest in crypto for profit reasons. the crypto products that we mostly use like wallets etc are 100% free. and best of them don't have tokens either that we can buy.
2: Yes I am interested in future of Blockchain and crypto. I really want it to grow and proper like it is doing now.
3: If I invested in a token for trading or you say profit reason then yes. I detach myself from that. because it is not possible for a normal human to follow thousands of projects.

    You just noticed it?
Let's see , Binance has (claimed 150 millions accounts), there are about 400k daily BTC transactions doubled at max by LN activity, and the trend is getting worse by the day, so probably it will top somewhere around 49% speculation, 50% holding to sell for a profit, 1% real worlds usage.

Honestly, I think we're a long way from the blockchain era. Currently we are not seeing widespread adoption of blockchain in the enterprise, and real demand for the value that blockchain brings is still very low. Therefore, I think that the crypto market is closer to the financial market than the technology market.
    ~
    2. To me, blockchain and crypto are just two sides of the same coin, and I believe in their future in our lives, including technology and finance.

Cryptos can't exist without a blockchain, a blockchain doesn't need crypto!
You have not seen widespread adoption of blockchain technology because it existed way before in the past and distributed databases far more efficient than public  blockchains have been in use for decades. Cassandra is such an example, free, open source, entirely distributed and with no single fault point, released in 2008, before Bitcoin birth.
So, bottom line, for a company a public permisionless blockchain makes little sense and for a closed centralized one you already have traditional databases.
That's the reason why things like Siacoin are right now at -92.3% from it's ATH.

I recommend you to be careful when purchasing coins during the pre-sale period. Most of the coins that launch pre-sales are often frauds and they can cause huge losses to investors. I try my best to avoid pre-sales but if you can take risk in those pre-sales then rewards are also going to be high.

To be honest everyone wants to gain profits in crypto-currencies or in any other business and if someone says that they aren't in crypto-world for the profit then those people might not understand investing themselves or they might be telling some lies.

We support the projects in hopes that it can grow in value, however some projects are always close to our heart due to the features that they have but that doesn't mean we aren't thinking about profit by holding such coins. Profit is always going to be the final goal of the investors.

    • Do you primarily enter the market for technology or profit-driven reasons?
To be honest I'm here for profit driven reasons since I considered crypto as the best investment especially for people like me who wanted financial freedom

    • Are you genuinely interested in the future of blockchain and crypto?
Of course I am interested in the future of blockchain and crypto because we want it or not that is where we are going.

    • Do you tend to detach yourself from a project after selling its tokens?
Not really because I am not detaching my self from it after I sold some of my favorite coins I still value their presense and will surely buy again if given a chance in the near future.

Dreaming of being rich may not be for me because maybe it's just an illusion I've had since I was little because I know now that it's very difficult to earn 10 USD a day.
It also really feels like I'm now working as a factory worker and that's why I'm on the altcoinstalks forum so I can get profits from other jobs, namely cryptocurrency circles.

Money is a bonus, knowledge in cryptocurrency is also an additional bonus, but the most important thing is "Friends" because friends in cryptocurrency are like "Family", especially in the altcoinstalks forum, they are like a second family.
I still remember when I entered the altcoinstalks forum and was still learning to make posts, then the other members told me where the mistakes were and had to be corrected, so that those who made me know about cryptocurrency to this day are like my own family. :)

Agree, I believe that at the present time, most investors also focus on technology, not really interested in the future of Blockchain technology. Perhaps only big companies want to use blockchain in the operation process to increase transparency and cost savings. Investors on CEXS do not need Blockchain technology, Defi users only need blockchain to trade or earn profits from Staking/Farming, everything is still only in this closed crypto market. It will be very long for us to use tokens and pay directly for conventional services instead of fiat.
