General Discussion / Re: drugs or alcohol?
« on: May 25, 2024, 09:28:01 PM »
Really it depends on how deep you want to go with the question. You say Drugs or alcohol but what kind of drugs? Are we talking cocaine, marijauna, meth, caffeine, heroin, nicotine, or opiates? Alcohol is self explanatory so i'll not list the thousands of different kinds of beers and whiskeys.

Prior to heart surgery, I liked to have a few beers now and then as well as was a smoker for over 20 years. Post heart surgery, I do not participate in any of my old habits. No beer, no smoking, and def no recreational drugs.

With that being said, I would choose drugs over alcohol as I still like to drink mountain dew and caffeine is technically a drug.

Caffeine and Phil go back to 1963 when I was six and had my first tea.

So caffeine is staying around as is some alcohol,

but tobacco coke herion all drugs with maybe just maybe a very small amount of weed are not happening.

General Discussion / Re: Is the matrix movie possible?
« on: May 25, 2024, 09:24:48 PM »
Matrix is my all-time favourite movie I have watched all 4 Matrix movies this could happen because we love and are very fascinated by AI and robots if our scientists keep creating and inventing robots and AI we could see a matrix like scenario but I believe before this could happen we already have warning signs because the human is very intelligent to stop this before Matrix become possible it will take a hundred years from now.

Yeah I often think it has already happened and that we are not exactly what we think we are we are more what we are told what we are.

It is likely that the price of bitcoin will reach $80K, not this month maybe early next month. but will this happen? If demand for bitcoin gets higher and there are no negative issues, it is possible that this will happen.
Still can't predict for next month has possibility for bitcoin reach above $80k or not? recently bitcoin have been success break out above $70k although today price decreasing few percent. Raise up to $80k need around 10% for bitcoin increasing and looks has opportunity maybe two or three months later. Looking for bitcoin demand next month have increasing drastically or bad news will make many holder panic for selling their bitcoin assets in lower price.
So far have good news after ETF Ethereum approval and bitcoin keep consistent raise above $70k, just waiting how long bitcoin keep stable price.

Btc will get past 80k but it will be slow to happen.

I picked 3

My thought after decoupling was that ETH will fly solo impacted by it's utility and the general market sentiment largely influence by BTC.
The was expected to be a game changer but i think we seeing the opposite or perhaps there some info i am mising?

Why do you think that they are decoupled?

I am also confident Bitcoin can reach a new ATH. Even it can't reach $100k, it should be above $90k at least. It is very strange if the ATH in this season is only $73k, it is only a $4k difference from the previous ATH.

Give it time, the $73k was an exceptional event caused by the approval of spot ETFs and the high demand they brought in. If the cyclicality is to be sustained, the proper pump is still ahead of us.
All things considered, $100k range is a conservative aim.
trying to  be patient hoping to see us over 100k in 2024 but you never know.

fine wine and quality spirits are okay but as said above  in moderation.

As for weed I used to do it often but as I aged (67) I rarely smoke or eat an edible .

Do I think they are needed nope but if you eat quality foods  they are often better with good wine.

Meme Coins / Re: Doge coin dog KABOSU passes away..
« on: May 24, 2024, 07:25:21 PM »
Woke up to the sad news of Kabosu's passing. This got me thinking, which made me wonder: which meme dog will Elon adopt next? Could his next adoptee be Laika, the first dog to travel to space?

Not sure he will push a dog this time.

To invest money into producing solar panels can be good idea? your thoughts?
Actually; first of all, before you invest money into a business you have to do a feasibility study about that business you want to invest, and have knowledge  concerning that very business, before you can invest your money in it.
No matter how lucrative no matter how enticing the business is you need to have a knowledge concerning it before you invest.
Investing your money to produce solar panel is good,  but you need to have knowledge about it first before you invest. That's my candid opinion.
Yes, the only time we can tell if investing in something just like in producing solar panels is when we have enough knowledge to the investment or business that we are planning. If we only look to the side of how much money we might make on the investment, nothing will succeed with the investment we make.

solar panels are cheap these days especially that China is massively producing these panels. i'm wonder though what OP would do with the energy. iff this is for mining BTC or altcoins, then he gonna need a lot more than just to power a house.

i have this plan once upon a time but i would need to buy a land just near a shoreline to guarantee wind can turn a turbine that can generate a lot of energy to run 10 GPU plus a house. not sure if i am ready to move to such place.  ;D

To want to build solar panels an compete against China in making them is quite a challenge. I suppose you could make a higher end panel that has more power per panel and is clean when recycled. But a 400 watt china  vs a 550 watt your country will not always sell well. you need careful study.  Good luck.  Note I quote the post above because he mentions China competition

Signature has grown for me . The mine ended I am selling off all my gear.
I thought you will never sell your mining hardware but if signature campaigns are more effective for you then that's a good decision. Mining is surely not profitable anymore unless Bitcoin gain some value but as of now it's not that much profitable.

Well without cheap power the gear is not very helpful to me.

I have been selling my rtx a4000 and my rtx a5000 gpus on eBay I sold around 21 gpus so far. I still have 100 more to sell. I also sold 4 bitmain L3+ units. I have over 40 asics to sell.

I will end up with 3x t21's and 1 L7 and a few gpus.

I purchased some more coin today.

If we look into the the current situation now and how the market is moving, we will deduce that the trend is fast approaching to achieving another all time high just as we have already seen before the halving, we still have the whole year long to achieve for more new all time highs and throughout the year, there is more to expect and see, if we only consider the way far to go in seeing bitcoin get to $150,000 or above between now till next year.

Or maybe we go in the wrong direction and dip under 60k

I have cash set aside to buy if we dip under 60k

Crypto currency Mining / Re: Will gpu mining get good this year?
« on: May 22, 2024, 05:42:38 AM »
CMIIW, but doesn't AI trend only use enterprise GPU? That means miner could go after non-enterprise GPU.
Large AI companies' data centers use Nvidia enterprise GPUs that cost tens of thousands of $, such as the H100 Tensor Core which costs $40K. Of course, these GPUs are not in the sights of crypto miners, or at least I have never known anyone to use enterprise GPUs for their mining farms.

However, the demand for AI comes not only from large companies, but also from ordinary users. For example, the Nvidia GeForce RTX is popular for computers focused on AI features for users, which can deplete the supply of GPUs on the market and drive up GPU prices and increase miners costs.

I have been able sell off most of my nvidia rtx a4000 gpus on ebay. they are in much more demand than nvidia rtx 3070

Well I suppose they could have been more transparent then they were.

But the mine pulls power. bigly
the mine has 24/7/365 internet traffic.
Pretty easy access to the airforce base due to the close proximity.

I wonder 💭 exactly what needs to be hidden.

Also how legal is it to film air force activities.

I am near fort McQuire it has lots of military activity I could photo it pretty easy peasy.

Is it worthwhile for a spy to do this I don’t think so.

But what exactly could a foreign national access by being a mile or 2 from a military base?

usually spys work at people on the base via honey trapping more than any other method.
