Statistically, the crypto community is usually dominated by Male and this is backed by many publications indicating about 70% of the crypto community is made up of male demographic...

*was

Prior to the first major bull run in 2017, you could make the argument that crypto was mostly dominated by men, nerds, programmers, geeks, people who were terminally online at forums and mailing lists etc.

But since then, the floodgates have really opened and now everyone is rushing to be a part of crypto, no matter what gender.

So I don't think the gender gap exists anymore.

It does.

In both finance/invesment and programmers/geek (which are both a relevant share of crypto investors) men dominate.

A survey by investment fintech Linqto released today revealed that over 52% of male respondents have invested in crypto, compared to just 26% of female respondents. The results highlight significant gender discrepancies in investment preferences within private markets, by analyzing investment activity and interest by age and gender.

I’ve been holding onto my Ethereum and Bitcoin cash for a while now, and honestly, I’ve been unsure about what to do with it. I know ETH is a valuable asset, but simply holding it doesn't seem like the best way to maximize its potential. Price has been flying up and down recently, but i'm bullish on it with the upcoming ETF approval, that is if it was approved it will be a plus for most retail holders like myself. Do you have any idea how i can make the most out of my holdings.

There are many staking platforms, where you can add your ether- to stake

You are read about it here
https://ethereum.org/en/staking/

Solo home staking, Staking as a service, Pooled staking and staking in Centralized exchanges (the most risky).

Edit: I will try to talk to the affected user.

The idea is to warn the user and draw the attention of the manager. As I said, it is not my intention to exclude someone from the possibility of earning some money.

I think it is important that spam is not rewarded through signature rewards, that would be a waste of money for both the campaign owner and the forum.

Thanks Freemind for your engagement here.

I agree with this.

I think the community is too aggressive is bitcointalk. People are very intolerant and harsh and a person can be easily red tagged... I don't agree with many red tags I have seen there

This is something I didn't know, because although US citizens are surprised when they come to the EU when it comes to education and medical care, I could never even imagine that there are no free primary or secondary schools in Brazil. If I were to put myself in your situation, then even 15% tax on cryptocurrencies would be too much for me and I would look for every possible way to avoid it.

There is a free primary school here, but the quality is very low and everyone who has financial condition pays for a better education for their children.

You can use automatic translator to get an idea here. We are the worst education in an analysis of 64 countries.

The same with health care
You need to pay to get a decent service

5
Have you seen that coinmarketcap.com added a feature to see all those historical events in bitcoin price?

6

I have all that, although health care is not completely free (you have to pay about 10 EUR per month) to be able to have all services for free, but the level of corruption is still high - in the past 8 years, as many as 30 ministers had to leave because investigations were launched against them - and the same party won again in the recent elections - it's hard to understand.

I spend about 600 euros each month in my kid school. :'(
And about 100 euro health care, but it is partly paid by my employer,  this is why it is "cheap "

And the effect, look at how the market is now. especially the price of Ethereum. The effect of the Ethereum ETF approval is truly great. At least for the time being, this is very good for the upward progress in the market. Even if you look at the graph of Ethereum itself, it is very significant. Currently, the price of ETH is at $3,740. Even though it is currently experiencing a decline, at least, it is much better than it was a few days ago.

CoinGecko

It is also moving positively against other crypto and bitcoin

I am hoping to break 0.07 BTC, then i will think about converting ETH > BTC

You see, I didn't know that the laws were so favorable when it comes to tax, but 15% doesn't seem so bad considering the amount of tax on crypto that some other countries have.

Yeah, I agree.

Brazil was very crypto friendly until our President changed in 2023. As I said, crypto was tax free until 6k USD per month (which is a lot imo).

It is sad that our money from taxes goes to a hole and we have basically zero return from it (no public education, no public health care, etc)... but that is how things in developing countries are...

Technical Discussion / Re: Which blockchains are the fastest?
« on: May 24, 2024, 04:10:33 PM »
Bitcoin isn't supposed to be faster than visa or any other altcoin.
It is supposed to be censorship resistant, borderless,  free. You shouldn't ask anyone to trander your money, even if it takes 10 minutes.

The part about free is not true, it was never free to move bitcoins, far worse than that it's the only payment method where you have to pay twice or thrice because you pay with three bills instead of one. But for the rest, yeah the actual advantage is in those things.

I was not saying about moving bitcoin for free, but the freedom to move them as you wish, without asking for permition. I should have  used the word permitionless, or freedom...

Litecoin and Dogecoin not even making the list is madness. Particularly Dogecoin. Aren't these coins using a much lower PoW block generation time?

Litecoin has a 2.5 minutes blocktime.
While dogecoin has a 1 minute blocktime.

Those coins has faster blocktimes, but this is just a design decision, just a different parameter in the code. Which has pros and cons.

They are faster , but they do not have superior technology compared to bitcoin

Do you see Brazil to become a powerhouse market for cryptocurrency in the coming years?

I hope that Brazil will do something good for its people when it comes to cryptocurrencies and that these regulations will be something positive that will enable people to invest safely, and on the other hand, that they will not have to pay excessive taxes on their profits. If I'm not mistaken, spot BTC ETFs were available in Brazil long before this happened in the US, and from some other news I've read over the years, it always seemed to me that Brazil had a strong crypto community.

This is certainly a topic in which member @bitmover could give his opinion.

Thanks for mentioning me.

Brazil is rising taxes everywhere.

A few months ago, we could sell about 6k USD of cryptocurrencies each month tax free. In January 2024 this changed, and now we have to pay 15% taxes because crypto is now considered "international investment".

There is an exception: If you sell in a few domestic exchanges, you still get this 6k USD free taxes. However, this new regulatory framework will probably put an end in this exception.

I don't expect nothing good from this new regulatory framework. Our government is socialist, our President is an extreme left radical, he doesnt like crypto at all, neither his party.

I expect more taxes and some news about DREX (our new CBDC)

But in any case, this development will remain very good and will be a useful additional option for many users when network fees are insanely high.

I am happy to see the fees are much lower now, and you can get a confirmation with less than 10 sat v/B!

Anyway, always good to have options for lower fees.

I remember to see CM paying 0.0375 btc per week, but this was lower than 200 usd for a very long time. But it was always the best paying camping in the forum.

The highest amount I earned from the signature campaigns was 0.15 per month, in 2019 it was about ~$1,600, and I sold it in 2021 at a price of 51k, so it was ~ $7,650 per month.

I think it is important to think in USD terms, not in BTC terms.

When you receive 0.15 a month, but that is "only" $1600 not $7600.

It is basically the same as buying $1600 BTC per month.

You could just have used your real life wage to buy more BTC each week...
