Title: A sad story but you can learn something!
Post by: Lutera94 on January 29, 2021, 02:03:31 PM
I have a friend from Pakistan and express her emotions, you can read & feel the pain ----

"In 2017, When most of shitcoins were at their peaks in BTC pairing,my portfolio was also  high in sky.I had some 64K USD in my bittrex account at that time. 64K USD may seems normal amount for you people but in my country (Pakistan) 64K USD mean you have half of the world's total money. (😅)

I was University student in 2017, I didn't attempted my smester exams saying "Who the hell needs a Degree when you have million of RUPEES in your account."So you can imagine how egoistic my life was getting with every pump in shits'market.I was in fantasy of hitting  million Dollar mark within year.

Then started the Downfall.Every day i started loosing  8% 10% 15%. Every shit coin was dumping like there was not a single buyer in the market. I thought no problem its a normal market pull back for another bullish wave. But that bullish wave never came back. My balance dumped to 5k 6k usd. In despair i sold  all my holdings to pay my university Fees.

What i want you to learn is : Never Hold a shitcoin for to long sell some of your holdings when it hits your least possible target. Atleast sell 40% of your holding at minimum target area. You will never be in trouble if you manage your money like this.

This is a very terrible story.  It is a pity that a huge part of the deposit was lost, of course it was necessary to fix the profit, but in 2017 few people thought about it.  I think people expected bitcoin to grow even more, but something terrible happened and bitcoin fell.

Well, we all did. But of course it's important that we learned and notice how much we were greedy. Now our wisdom from the past will helps us to ride the bull run for this year.

This is really very sad story. It will be the lessons of all the shitcoins investor. I agree with you that if the price raise up at expected position then we should sell at least %40 token which are hold by you. Always try to avoid risk as much as possible.

Well I guess we had the same situation when the market was bullish but not the same high amount that he earned from shit coins. I only earned around $1,500 from shit coins and I also lost a lot of money when the market starting to bearish, it is really not good to be greedy I already learned my lesson. Just be satisfied with your profit.

I always try to lock in 50 percent or more of my profits because I've also had the unfortunate experience of not selling my coins and waiting for more than X, but in the end the coins just became worth very little.

@Lutera94 very sad what happened to your friend, unfortunately very similar cases happen every day. Diversifying I think is the best way to have "guaranteed" profits in case things like this happen, although all this can not always be foreseen logically.

It happens with many of them even in 2018 I have 25k USD portfolio but now today its less than 1000$ it is all because I mostly hold shit coins that are pump and dump coin and I don't have much expectation from shit coins to pump but learned a lesson the same thing happen in your post. Virtual money is virtual unless you cash out so always book the profit time to time don't hold for long if you have a little doubt.

Being greedy can prove very dangerous in the crypto market because the market can go down in just a matter of seconds i also losted many money during trading. so never get too greedy and exchange at least half of your coin in stable coins

This is really a pathetic story, I can imagine the trauma, I have been on this same lane before and several time for that matter, but the good news is that I've learned the hard way, and this days, I had keep shit coins, ones they come in, either from bounty or I bought them for whatever reasons, ones I see a good price to sell, no matter how small, I sell it off and act like I never owned any of it if for some reasons, the price began to rise in the market.

There are many stories like this, holding shitcoins mean that you waste your money. Many new coins are here deceiving, only pumping with the hype and then falling down every day. The price is only high enough at the bullish market and will down to earth until being dead coin after it all. That is what shitcoins can give us. Better to make it for daily profits

If we are stuck holding shitcoin, then we should learn to do research properly,
Good coins have a clear road map, and progress is seen at least every few weeks, be it technology, marketing, products that make the coin price go up.
If there is no development and only a concept then we better leave it.
Investing is not just about getting the most return possible, but about keeping our money in a place that has a clear future and development.

Almost the same story happened to me also in 2017. At that time, I had around $10K worth of coins and tokens in my MEW account because most of the bounty projects I supported really made to the top of the chain. Then in 2018, after the bull run, the catastrophic cryptocurrency winter started. Naive as I was, I continued holding on to my digital assets until they were almost worthless. We know that most of the ICO projects in 2017 are almost all dead today, with only a few exemptions. In fact, I am not alone with this experience, many got into the same story and this is the big basis why many bounty hunters are selling their prize by the time they received them.

To sell the token immediately is advantage in this case. During bull run to set a target price to sell the token is smart way. Profit is what I think the important here even it is not so much. Too much greediness must be avoided to anticipate the future regrets when the token price dump.

I think every project didn’t survive for long time, most of the project are failed to do Their best. As a result project are getting trouble. So the best way is take profit when project run well. But many project have really good future, for example eth, dot or link. This kind of project makes you happy for sure

You know already that it is a shitcoin so why holding it??
Expecting for it to go up even higher?? You said it already too that your ego has eaten you and therefore you waited too much and you expected too for your "shitcoin" to go up.
Once a shitcoin, always a shitcoin so the lesson here is don't ever ever invest into shitcoin or I should say "Low Marketcap coins".

At that time, many lost their investments. After good growth in the second half of 2017, altcoins lost 90-95 percent of their value the following year. This was probably one of the reasons for the long two-year bear market for cryptocurrency. Therefore, there are a lot of such stories. This lesson must be remembered. However, this situation is unlikely to be repeated with certainty in the future. Cryptocurrency is developing rapidly and market participants are gaining experience. Now they no longer invest in any new projects, as it was before. Therefore, now the most promising altcoins are growing in price, it is in them that investors are investing, and the garbage remains lying.

that's the risk we have to face in this Cryptocurrency, it's very sad. Very much money that is in sight is not taken, and finally its value decreases because the assets held have decreased. But at that time it was not only shitcoin, big coins like Bitcoin and Ethereum also The price went down.

That is why investing in altcoins is a huge risk and prices can fluctuate very much, both up and down, so you need to be very careful when choosing a token or coin for investment. I can imagine your disappointment when the balance decreased from 64k to 6k, it is very upsetting, to put it mildly, but you had to be prepared for such a scenario. And if you bought bitcoins for this amount then you would already be a very rich person.

I agree @op, shitcoins can't be trusted and should not be kept for too long without selling a good number of it and leaving a very few behind,  there is a popular saying  :you snooze you lose" if you don't sell shitcoins at the time you are suppose to, you will end up regretting your actions.

This has happened to me too. At that time my portfolio was worth approximately 10K USD, I was holding a lot of coins from the bounty project, and I expected the price to increase in the next few months. Instead of going up, the price went down even more, and I ended up selling all the coins at around 1K USD. And now the coins that I have sold have become shitcoins. LOL

It is a very basic thing in crypto, every crypto user must know if holding shitcoins for a long term is too risky. If you see the price is good enough to sell the shitcoins, you are better to sell all of them. Then, you can buy top altcoins for long term or short term investment. Converting your funds from shitcoins to top altcoins is the safe way to keep the potential of the growth of your money in crypto investment. Don't risk your money on shitcoins, especially those shitcoins which have very low volumes on the market. They can be delisted or removed from any exchange suddenly.

So sorry to hear that. But investing in shitcoin is always risky. We can choose that kind of coin for trading and not for long term investment. Many shitcoins are going to end and become a dad coin. Moreover, it is about shitcoins from new projects that are not listed n exchanges. They are really shitcoins

So sorry to hear that. But investing in shitcoin is always risky. We can choose that kind of coin for trading and not for long term investment.
Not only investing, even if you decide to trade shitcoin is very risky, you could lose more than 50% in just a few hours.
My advice is that it is better not to choose shitcoin for any purpose, because when you lose your funds, you will have difficulty recovering your funds.

Yes, it is difficult when you choose a new coin and it will not necessarily have a high price in the next few years, everyone will definitely experience a cutloss and they will learn from the experience, now we have seen that there are many new coins and have a 100 rating on coinmarketcup, all it won't last long, because a market correction will occur and we just have to wait by choosing an altcoin with a good trading volume so as not to suffer big losses

This is terrible. I have had an experience of this nature, that was 2018, after the bull run in 2017. Though I did not put in capital, but I gave it a full time. When the pull back started, I made a little investment, and waited for a year, but the bearish nature of the market made me to diversify my bitcoin into other altcoins. Now, I regret the action which I took at that time.
One thing about crypto is that when the pull back starts, it's hard to hold, to avoid total loses. For that cause, sell, and place it on USDT to see the market trend, and jump in again.

Shitcoin is not recommendable to hold for term because the quality of the coin is not 100% assured. The momentum is shifting every time that really scary to hold the shitcoins. I think it will be appropriate if sell them immediately once it is listed to grab the high price before the dump.

Almost all investors or traders already have their own analysis and know when prices go down or rise what to do. If you do not have an analysis and position when trading / investing, you will get disappointment and loss, not profit.
64k is a big number for me. But why don't you as an investor or trader have analysis? or you just want to throw your money away?

Regretting what happened is useless. Make your past a lesson to be even better in the future

That happened with most of the hodlers in the last bull run and even this time around it will be similar but the thing is that atleast the longterm holders should move in safer coins like btc, eth, trx etc because all other lose big time while these top coins even if lose their value that will not be like those new coins and they will also start recovering first.

Yes, I agree. We should be smarter in the next bull run. Alywas be careful at shitcoin.  I personally prefer invest on top ten coins, It is more safety. For now, I see many people already invested at there. Good luck.

For myself, I made the same conclusion about investment tactics. For me, the leaders of the cryptocurrency rating remain the investment priority, because for long-term storage this is the best option.

The biggest difficulty is the responsibility in making a decision. And the second is that money clouds the brain and spoils a person. For many, big money is a test that not everyone passes. That is why I keep the crypt in stablecoins:usdt, pax, usdc.

Quite sad, her fantasies let her into the mess of loosing her money to the bear market, it's always very good to take some profit especially when you're really in profits. A lot of people have fell into similar situation, but in all its all experience and a good learner will learn the most.

Oh, I felt all the pain ((I can only guess what kind of depression you had. It's really very difficult. This is a lesson for life, sell tokens from the bounty)
It must be very sad and there is considerable regret, a fairly high value suddenly drops because of the continuous correction, it must be sad and we must make this a lesson for each of us to be more careful with our money going forward.

Everyone must also feel a dark period with cryptocurrency because everyone understands very well how fast it passes for Shitcoin.
Shitcoin is so very easy to create and then so easy to die.
Indeed, we must understand very well how cruel a Shitcoin is, sometimes it can be profitable and sometimes it is detrimental.

@kent47400 I completely agree with you, that dark part, that bad moment, is what makes us reflect and know what steps we should not take again, to make decisions calmly and not be in a hurry, wanting to do everything quickly and especially the greed are the two worst things that can happen to us.

Selling tokens from the bounty is your decision, but if you look at some good projects in 2020 such as DIA, Cartesi, and Ferrum Network, all three of these bounty lists have good token prices on the market, if you sell them today, you will be profitable.
although not all bounty is as fortunate as the project list above, you can do more research before selling tokens from bounties.

that was the begining of the crypto adoption. i doubt if we will ever such price movement again. the current bull market worth over 1 trillion. many more investors are moving their funds into crypto. i am certain the crypto of recent days will never be like the past where there are huge pump  and dump projects waiting to milk some people off.

You will never be in trouble if you manage your money like this.

................This really is financial Advice-Follow it for great trading experience.
Regards"

That's a sad thing on your part. I think the majority of the members here encountered the same problems before. I may not like that earned 64k$ but only 28k$ something during 2017, it was a very good year for me and of course, it's my first time to experienced that here in cryptocurrency, I thought it will never stop and will continue until the situation that I didn't expect to happen where the decreasing price of the holding coins I got by that time will rapidly be turned into loss my assets. Where in the end I also learned from it too.

This was not only a sad story but also a regret story. Well, I am sure that this is also related to how satisfying is being in crypto world. Sometimes we really want to get higher profits but we forget about target and also being too greedy. It may be a problem caused by ourselves

For investors like us, this is a big tragedy.  So each of us should learn from it.  The price we expect in the market. If we get that price, we will not hold any more coins in the market.  I will try to sell it immediately.  It is seen that we often face losses in the hope of extra profit.

This is really a very sad story. After 2016-2017, many more like your friend have this kind of sad story in their lives. I myself am a part of that story, I also had some shitcoins that have no value, many of which have disappeared. In fact, people learn from mistakes; Let us all learn from the mistakes of the past and move forward. I also think that after reaching the minimum target, a part of the holding should be sold.

Hi OP, if you have experience and you hold most of your Bitcoin in 3 years it looks like you will make a big profit, but everyone will definitely learn from that experience to achieve success.
To be honest, I don't have that big of money, but I have made a profit of $1k in 2017 and I once suggested to my friend to buy BNB in 2018 because the price was still under $30 but he never listened to my opinion, and let's see now the price has gone up by more than 200%, we never know when the coin price will go up or down, but if a little bit of patience, we will get a lot of profit from holding the coin for 3 years and that is the result of long waiting.

Shitcoin will disappear in time, and this is mandatory knowledge must know, that's why many bounty hunters sell their token immediately and change it to the strong coin because they know it.

My investment never reach 64K, you are lucky in the past. And I hope this year I can reach it

The biggest lessons we can get from unfavorable trading situations is to develop ourselves and repeat same mistakes  over again; it is good to hodl on the long term; the most important feature is that you are hodling a good valuable token; like tron, eos, neo or perhaps underrated stellar

I wish you will be able to earn 64k$ once time.first of all, you need to realise what are you doing, many shitcoin you will get from bounty but if you Don't convert to others strong coin then your value of token will be vanished. I think who involved in crypto since 2017, this person cant mistake Again.

We always like to look back and regret. No need to be sorry, because it could have happened otherwise. I invested in a lot of coins, which fell by 90%. The investment is always a risk. You can win, and you can lose. The market will sooner or later go to the correction and you need to not miss your chance to buy cheaper than now.

The best teacher is experience, the experience teach us a lot that would be difficult for us to get without going through it first. And because of this case, we all know which one the good way to invest our money.

No doubt about your opinion. We can learn when we fall a great mistake. Then we can alert our past fault, so experience gives us a good guidelines. My opinion is in this pump market that withdraw some portfolio from your invested coin. It is safe & cool.

This is a terrible story. It is a pity that a large part of the deposit was lost, of course, it was necessary to recover the profit, but in 2017 few people thought about it. I think people expect bitcoin to grow even more, but something terrible happened and bitcoin collapsed

I do pity most of these newbies entering the space especially those that enter in the bull market, they will think the price always goes up but they never witness losing 90% of their portfolio because it would be very hard for them to take a loss early. In Crypto always live to die another day. I hope they get the wisdom in this post

It would be wiser if the goal is to invest long, preferably in coins that are already popular unless you want to invest in new coins, at least tips have their own reasons for seeing the potential and who supports the development of the new coins.

Good things will never stop to happen after bad things. I also learn the strategy to sell the token if hit the target mark. Avoid so much greediness always.

Correct. I am one of those people who have felt the darkness in cryptocurrency when I got an altcoin from the bounty called MTC.
At that time I got 20k MTC I sold it for $ 0.01 and I only got $ 200. After one week of selling it, the MTC price went up to $ 0.5
If I wait and wait a week, I'll get $ 20k. But it was my impatience that led me to the dark world for only $ 200.
But after that incident I considered it a lesson so that in the future I would not repeat the same thing. And after that incident, when I got the result of the bounty, I had a target to sell it. If the estimate hasn't reached $ 1000 I won't sell it

I think this is just that period. It is worth fixing some of the profits so as not to lose everything. But the decision is up to you. This is just advice.
