Russia’s Prosecutor General Wants Cryptocurrency Recognized as Property Under Criminal Law

The Prosecutor General’s Office of Russia has proposed to define cryptocurrency as property in the country’s Criminal Code. Decentralized digital money has already been qualified as such in the provisions of several other laws although various aspects of cryptocurrencies remain unregulated. I would like news articles like this to more clearly reflect the essence of the topic raised. Quite often, expressions are used that allow multiple interpretations, but because no clear specifics are indicated.
In this case, it is written that in Russia "the issue of attributing virtual assets to property for the purposes of criminal proceedings has not been resolved." What does this mean? Everything is very hazy. The Criminal Code of each country contains a list of specific criminal offenses and the punishment for those who committed them. Why is it impossible to directly indicate what actions with cryptocurrency the employees of the Prosecutor General's Office of Russia propose to be considered criminal, so that you can talk about this topic?

Many times the real meaning can be lost in the translation especially one can be mixing his own opinion into it. The same thing happened in China before that sometimes result into unnecessary FUDs in the market. With Russia, we are hoping that soon the government can allow the coming in of cryptocurrency in a very regulated way. There remains a big market in this country just waiting to be exploited...though I would hate if Russia can be filling the void left by China because they happen to have the same type of a government. Cryptocurrency to be recognized as a property can be a good start and can be working well for the government especially on matters of taxation.
