Indeed solana is a good coin solana technology is sweet and best it is very easy and very smooth to use it has high speed transaction with low cost transaction fee this is good for all users we can easily use all solona based Dexs but it will not overtake the ETH because ETH is going to the surge upgrade..

Just as @Kitme said solana is great coin with alot of good potentials where traders and investors can make good profits opportunities from. And with good and friendly fees. Most time I love using solana in transactions because of its fees, Solano overtaking ETH I don't actually think so despite ETH fees. ETH also have a great potential due to its uses and purposes.

Mainly, the gap between the price and the market cap it too high. ETH has a market capitalization of 342 Billion dollars, while Solana is only at 38 Billion. ETH is roughly 9 times bigger than Solana.

You're right, Ethereum is bigger than solana, but don't forget Ethereum is old coin.
There is many time for solana to improve their progress and projects.
Many people said Solana will overtake Ethereum at the coming future if Ethereum team can't solve their gas problem.
Let's see ...time will tell

I say it's impossible, Solana still needs to improve its technology and popularity in order to surpass ETH. even though cheap gas costs cannot make Solona better than eth in terms of price, where eth's popularity was first known and declared an inseparable pair of bitcoin

If we talk about technology, I think solana is better than Ethereum.
But Ethereum is more popular, it's too far.
For the next few years , I don't believe solana will overtake Ethereum.

Don't underestimate solana project and team, I think Solana has potentially to beat Ethereum at the coming years.
But lest see how can Ethereum team improve their project, gas fee is always being the big problem.
Very nice to see the both on competition.

Although currently Solona has managed to gain a good amount of popularity. It's also very easy to trade and its price is relatively low compared to other coins but I don't think it can beat ethereum. Ethereum currently ranks second in the crypto world. Still it is employed here by big investors. So I personally think Solona coin can't touch Ethereum.

Do you understand what kind of capitalization it would take to overtake Ethereum? It's almost impossible. Just because the commissions are high doesn't mean the project is bad. If the ETH-ETF is accepted, it will speak volumes. Don't forget that there are many projects (where commissions are minimal) - at the same time, absolutely no one knows anything about these projects. It doesn't mean that these x-projects will overtake Ethereum because of minimal commissions. The transfer fee, has never been an indicator.

P.S. Not trying to change anyone's mind, just simply stating my point of view.  8)

The comparison is very clear from the trading volume of Ethereum and Solana, Solana clearly has the potential to beat the trading volume of Ethereum, Solana has a project that accepts complaints from users and is immediately handled well so that it will provide a very high satisfaction value . For the future of Ethereum, it seems there is no longer any hope because currently Ethereum is not paid much attention by developers anymore.

The way the Solana platform is progressing and gaining popularity with people, it seems that at some point it will come close to the Ethereum platform and the BNB platform. But it should also be kept in mind that Ethereum is only after Bitcoin and any other platform will take that place, but Ethereum will never allow it. Because Ethereum will always want to stay behind Bitcoin, if necessary increase their popularity and try to stay on top by leaving all platforms behind. But from my point of view I would say Solana will never overtake Ethereum.

ethereum is still in demand and correct there are so much to expect from this both coins but the popularity of ethereum is still there.

Solana will always be behind Etherum, because after bitcoin is Etherum. There have been the approval of bitcoin ETF, and the approval of Etherum ETF is next, which I don't know if it would be lunched in July. The moment Etherum ETF is lunched, it is finished for the hope of Solana taking over Etherum. This is because a lot of people will deviate to Etherum since it has a low marketcap than Bitcoin and the price is very cheap, this would boost Etherum. Don't you think so.

Currently, Ethereum still has many fans, but as time progresses, when Ethereum cannot solve the various problems it is experiencing, it will make users turn away from Etheruem and prefer to use other networks.

Any unstable asset (not like everyone else) cannot be better than others, even if it is growing very well and this means that it will not be able to overtake Ethereum, not in popularity or in price, especially in order to overtake in price it is necessary to do the impossible, we see how it is falling after the previous growth, not one reasonable investor will wait for tens of thousands of percent; everyone will take profits after receiving several hundred percent.

I'm not sure about that, especially when we don't specify the time frame in which the profit is determined. New projects find it very difficult to compete with ETH in terms of capitalization, but they can completely generate more profit than ETH.

For example: in 2020-2021, ETH investors could get a maximum profit of x52, while SOL investors could get a maximum profit of x526. In other words, SOL delivered better maximum profit than ETH in the 2020 cycle. In fact, the investor's buying and selling time will greatly determine this profit and the figures are for reference only.

At some points?
Probably. This thread has been since 2023, and now it is in 2024. So far, Solana is really great and experiencing significant progress in project development. Because Solana not only focuses on blockchain but also several other products in their Dapps. And Solana also has several things that are even more interesting, such as high speed but very low fees for transactions. So, just relax.

From here we know that Solana's development is very consistent and always tries to provide the best. So far it seems that only Solana has been able to compete with many of the top coins and now has high volume to the point where it is in the top five of coinmarketcap.

          -   It doesn't mean that Solana is showing good development in the market today; it is showing that it can surpass what Ethereum has reached now, mate.
That's not the case. Yes, it's true that the fee for ETH is high, but aren't you surprised that ETH still remains at the top among all the cryptocurrency?

That means it has what Solana doesn't have, and so does Sol, right? So I think Solana has a long way to go before this happens, in my opinion.

Solana is a project that is still just developing so there are still many challenges and there is still a lot of journey that they have to go through, therefore Solana must continue to be fully supported. We can still get a lot of profit from Solana's price movements which are currently developing and many tokens have been created on the Solana network.

        -     Honestly, I don't think about that; what matters to me is that I get a profit under the Solana Network. Then, if Solana's price value is ranging for sure, at the same time, she also rises Ethereum's price Value, literally speaking.

Now, when it comes to innovation, all I can say is that they have the same innovation made for the new development of their token over time.

Overtake in terms of what?

Transaction? Solana has 4000 while Ethereum has around 27 transactions per second.
Market cap? Obviously Ethereum has a higher market cap than Solana.
Community? Since Ethereum is way older than Solana, it has a bigger community.
Gas fees? Don't ever think that Ethereum is better than this one. Ethereum has one of the cheapest transaction fees currently. You know what I mean. :D

I think let's just say that Ethereum has some things that are better than Solana and vice-versa. At the end of the day, both are good in their own ways. Anything that's becoming more popular are always being compared with Ethereum. Now, Solana became the narrative and because of that, many are comparing it with Ethereum. Your question is kind of vague TBH, so I don't want to give a concrete answer to that.

The priority innovation in the Solana network so far that I know is that they remain focused on creating products that have very fast transactions with very cheap transaction fees, even cheaper than the BSC network.

Solana might overtake Ethereum one day, but it's not guaranteed. Solana's scalability and low fees give it an edge, but Ethereum on the other hand has a huge community and is constantly improving. In the end, whichever platform keeps innovating and attracting more users and developers could come out on top. Only time will tell which one wins the race.
For me, Ive been holding the two and pair some of them on Bitget smart portfolio to have more of one from there other one pump.. Still hoping to have more ETH because it's seem sol is outperforming it lately.

It may be possible becasue the SOL network fee is very low but the ETH network fee is high and that is not good. Now this time so many projects are go to the SOL and also on the BNB network because the ETH network fee is high and all these networks are secure and good. SOL network is a good network and in future it will get more good projects.

The current Ethereum network still has quite high transaction costs and the cost of creating new tokens is quite expensive. Therefore, Ethereum is used for those who have well-developed products that will be valuable. Meanwhile, when new projects enter the Solana network, many of them end up being scams because on the Solana network the transaction fees are all very cheap.

Solana's advantages in speed and transaction fees have made it the preferred platform for memecoins and NFTs in recent times. I think this is just the beginning and in the future Solana can become the blockchain for common P2P and P2B transactions, while Ethereum can be used for more important purposes such as tokenizing large assets and B2B payments. Solana's only problem is POH stability, Solana really needs to improve this to continue to exist and compete with many other blockchains besides Ethereum, such as Avalanche and Ton with speed of ~100k tps.

Check Ethereum transaction fees - https://etherscan.io/gastracker
I think with the current gwei it's still quite cheap compared to the previous high.

Remember that Solana is not an Ethereum killer by any means, they may say Solana has a cheap network but behind it all are a lot of scammers making token plans that will rugpull later which in the end becomes a scam.

But ETH will not be able to be overtaken because MC is too big and far different from Solana.

That's right, as you said, Ethereum fees are currently quite cheap and we can take advantage of these cheap Ethereum fees to carry out transactions on Ethereum. It is normal that when token creation and transaction costs are quite cheap, scammers will take advantage of it.

For a long time we have seen a lot of fraud on the Binance smart chain and several networks with cheap gas fees, which is normal. Because the fraudster also sees the biggest possibility he can do. Tehreum's gas fee has decreased, hopefully this is not a problem of decreased traffic but the impact of improvements made by the developer team

SOL network may beat ETH network for chip transaction fees but sol will never beat ETH in terms of coin value popularity.  ETH is a very old coin and it is the first altcoin.  And ETH's market cap is $450 billion and SOL's is only $80 billion.  So how does SOL compare to ETH?  Yes SOL has a lot of features in their chain sol has gained a lot of popularity due to its very low transaction fees but that doesn't mean that sol can overtake ETH

There is nothing impossible in this life, only if we believe in the delivery capacify of that thing to perform, if we are to go by what we have on ground now, we may say that Solana may not achieve this because its still by many ways far from the range Ethereum is presently, but we are to go extensively into the future, there is nothing that cannot happen in seeing that Solana worth the same or even more value than Ethereum.

Looking at past, I'd say no. Solana despite being cheap is not a dependeble network, it has had frequent outages. How many ethereum had? As far as In know — none (Though, when ethereum gas fee reaches 200 gwei, it's as good as an outage  :P).

You know if Solana were to go down one time, it's understandable but if it keeps failing again and again, there is something wrong.

Solana often experiences network outages for hours this results in many transactions being choked up, I don't know what happened to Solana so often experiencing it how the developers are they not so able to optimize better than other networks.

But behind many failures there is also a lot of support from the community to stay loyal to this coin and even memes can explode again on the solana network which may be due to lower fees than ethereum which is so expensive.

We know many new and successful projects with large funding choose the solana network over the Ethereum network.

I looked at their uptime status website, and within the past 6-9 months, it only happened once in February of 2024, and it lasted for 4 hours.
Since then, there hasn't been any reported outages on the network.

I guess we can say that at least there's some improvement already compared to the time where major outages are happening one after another. Despite the outages, the community behind Solana is huge hence, they are still one of the top coins right now in terms of market cap. Aside from that, there has been new projects that are being created under Solana, and we've seen projects like JITO, Jupiter, WIF, and other more (more in the future). I don't know if this will happen, but I saw on Twitter regarding Solana being the next ETF that will get accepted after Ethereum. I see this totally absurd, but is there a chance for it to happen?

Overall, both Ethereum and Solana and excelling on what they're doing. There are new projects being created under SOL, and new projects on ETH as well.

Where does that rumor come from? I think it's still too early for any new ETF even if some companies plan to introduce it to the public. Isn't Solana closely related to FTX going bankrupt too? While network stability has improved I'm pretty sure the SEC or anyone in charge can argue that introducing an ETF with such history needs more time. I honestly think it's better for the dev to focus on improving stability instead of trying to hit new ATH by fueling rumors because when the bear wakes up their reputation will take a huge hit.

That's right, Solana does have technology that is no less than ETH, because popularity is what makes Solona not as well known as ETH, but Solona currently has a good position in the community and its popularity can be said to be on par with ETH, the only thing that differentiates it is ETH. and SOL is the price,

Anything is possible with the crypto networks, but if what the people want is majorly found in Solana network and they cant afford going for the Ethereum network for some reasonable points, then with time it may go ahead to out smart the Ethereum network in numbers of users and acceptability, but for now, the two are trending and valuable asset for most preferred digital networks in crypto altcoins section aside the bitcoin network.

I think it will eventually as the Ethereum fees are too high and Solana are working on other solutions. I think they are more progressive in their thinking than Ethereum. I have an IT background and Ethereum just feels dated. I think there's a v2 in the pipeline but not sure if its going to replace or run alongside the regular Ethereum. Its not very clear, correct me if I am wrong please!

From what I understand, Ethereum will remain as it but the layer 2s that run alongside ethereum (arbitrum/optimism/base being few examples), they batch multiple transactions made on their own chains and settle as one on ethereum, thus scaling ethereum and providing the security of ethereum mainnet as well.

This decreases load on ethereum mainnet as people are using layer 2s (and those layer 2s batch several transactions into one before settling on mainnet, as said previously), thus there is less congestion on mainnet and you see lower gas fee which you do these days.

I am not following up the two projects to know if they are doing well or not. All the two were having network issues and I don't know for now and if Ethereum is still having it network congestion and Solana is free from it and the price is moving up very well then Solana will challenge Ethereum in the future although the price difference is very big but that is not withstanding because of the demand and supply of Solana is more than Ethereum then within a month Solana will surpassed Ethereum.

We don't know it. I think Ethereum is still better now. But Solana network is getting popular, it may be more popular than Ethereum network someday but there is no guarantee for this.

That's right, as you said, Ethereum fees are currently quite cheap and we can take advantage of these cheap Ethereum fees to carry out transactions on Ethereum. It is normal that when token creation and transaction costs are quite cheap, scammers will take advantage of it.
Quite cheap? I don't think so. If we compare to other networks, Ethereum fee is still expensive. I don't know how Vitalik Buterin will solve this. So far, I don't see a significant progress from Ethereum team in solving high transfer fees. Ethereum will have more and more competitors, they must decrease the fees if they want to survive as the best platform.

IMO, Solana is much better than BNB, BNB is heavily centralized as I have heard and also it's just another evm chain compared to Solana which is layer 1, plus the day Binance falls, BNB will take a huge hit.

And probably it is a typos. But we have to remove the most popular because of the uses of Solana is high then Solana will surpass Ethereum with ease. But the gap Ethereum gives Solana is very big so it is not easy for Solana to surpass Ethereum.

Initially I thought that Solana would overtake Ethereum, but now I think not. Ethereum is too strong to beat even though many people complain about the high transaction fees on Ethereum. If you compare it with Solana, it really isn't comparable.
However, the reality is that until now Ethereum is still a favorite of many people, despite its shortcomings.
Solana still needs to fight hard if it wants to beat Ethereum, and this is not easy.

Solana is still far from outperforming Ethereum and there are even statements that Solana is the killer of Ethereum but it turns out that not from market capitalists alone it is far different so for me at any time Solan will not come close to ETH in the near or distant future.

Solana has nothing to do with Ethereum because they are not in the same lane. Those they are all following the price movement of bitcoin but Solana Young in price than Ethereum. Ethereum this days is not reducing like before again after the approval of the Ethereum ETF though according to news the spot ETF of Ethereum has not been implemented. And if they implement it then the price will increase and the investors will make more gains and for now the investors are waiting for the implementation to kick start.

BNB can complete very well if Binance keeps its reputation high because if any action is taken against Binance or its CEO then it could impact BNB very adversely. I still believe that Solana will win the battle against BNB but it will take Solana decade to overtake Ethereum or that won't happen at all ever.

If you check, you'll notice that emerging Blockchain is developed upon and improve on the weaknesses of other blockchains. Solana has been able to make transaction faster with lesser transaction fee. However, Ethereum still has unique features that endear developers  to it and investors love it for long term.

It's too early for any of us to start now to think that Solana will surpass the queen of crypto(ethereum) because of its increase in price since the start of this year. However, before we think of that, let's first compare both market capitalizations. Ethereum has a market capitalization of $393 billion and $82 billion.

For Solana to give a high market capitalization compared to Ethereum, I don't how long all that we take. It can take up to 10 years above, and Ethereum in the same vein, wouldn't remain with the same market capitalization without having an increased one "market capitalization" together

I think solana and BNB still need some time to compete with ethereum in the future, because ethereum's market cap is already too big so it needs solana to be its competitor to be able to approach ethereum. Maybe in 5 years it can happen if solana's popularity will continue to increase because we know the ethereum community is quite large.

Yes and one thing I know in the cryptocurrency market is that, when bitcoin price increased and decreased it affects all the altcoins and when Ethereum decreased, it does not affect Solana and BNB. So if they can increasing very well within a month, they can surpass Ethereum but that should be a dream for now. It's going to take a lot of hardwork and community support for ethereum to supas Bitcoin, the same way it's going to be for Solana and BNB to flip ethereum. It's not going to be an easy task but you need to also understand that Ethereum whales are the same people that own large chunks of solan. I can't say we'll enough for bnb since the token is a centralized utility exchange and these people wouldn't allow another coin to destroy their wealth one day. Solana going above ethereum means some people are going to sell their ethereum to buy Solana as the new coin in town.

I'm not saying Ethereum can surpass bitcoin, because I'm not sure how long it will take for ETH to unseat bitcoin for first place.
Likewise, Solana and BNB are a bit difficult to shift ETH even I'm not sure myself, this is my own opinion maybe you have other thoughts.

i don't think it's gonna happen anytime soon or just anytime in general Bitcoin is too far ahead of bitcoin the only way ethereum can surpass Bitcoin is if Bitcoin was in a downward spiral and Ethereum be in an upward one which is unlikely because the performance of one coin is usually relative to the performance of another

If you mean to surpass Ethereum market cap, it is very difficult to happen. But if you mean to beat the popularity of Ethereum chain, I think Solana already did it. People prefer to choose Solana because the transfer fee is cheaper. It is a bit different with Ethereum which has a high transfer fee. BNB chain is also cheaper than Ethereum, but I see Solana is more popular during this year. Solana showed great progress in this year, this will be a very strong chain. If Solana team continues to develop it, Solana is possible to overtake Ethereum someday.

After all these years it’s much easier to spot quality, thrilled by the steady flow of high-quality new founders building on Solana and the flow is steady, independent of market conditions, funding environment, hype, seasonality, or funding.
Focusing on user experience is what takes Solana to the next level. It’s all about making things fast, easy, and enjoyable.
Despite all the controversy, eventually, perhaps in the next cycle, it will happen.

Solana has advantage with most cheapest network fees for sending transaction and taken more faster than ethereum network,
but need to see fact about large difference price between Ethereum and Solana make us not sure how possibility Solana will overtake Ethereum.
Ethereum have fluactive network fees and right now got decreasing drastically and I believe many investor take benefit with lower fees transaction of Ethereum never has moment for Solana overtake although have lower fees and get faster transaction.

Solana-ETF coming soon?

Brazil will launch a Solana ETF on the local stock exchange - it is the first product of its kind in Brazil and one of the first Solana-based exchange-traded products (ETPs) in the world.

P.S. This could be a nice boost for the token. Anyone invest + believe in the growth of sol?

Nice news for SOL, but unfortunately, Brazil is not a large economy, and crypto-related activities in this country do not have much impact on investor sentiment. I doubt the success of the SOL Spot ETF in Brazil, and if it fails, it could be negative news for the SOL price.

Crypto Spot ETFs in the US have a significant impact because the US crypto market has high liquidity and the US stock market has an enormous amount of capital flow. A SOL spot ETF was once proposed in the US, but we have not had any positive updates on this financial instrument.

Sorry, but never bud, never at any time will Solana overtake ethereum, if this ever happens, then it's also possible that Solana may one day flip bitcoin over as well.

Look, many people seem to be so obsessed with Solana, and honestly, I don't know why, it's a fast blockchain; yes, transaction fees are low; yes, but is it the only blockchain with this features? No!.

Some time or later in the future, another blockchain is or will definitely come onboard and Solana will surely become a second class blockchain to build on.

Long and short is, Solana is a great blockchain, but it can never flip ethereum in terms of marketcap, not even in this generation or next, except ethereum blockchain dies completely and every one stop using it.

           -    It is obvious that the built community of ETH is still bigger compared to the Solana network. Today, Solana is also one of the potential altcoins in the market that can be said to have the potential to give profit to anyone who will hold it in their wallet.

And I also think that we will get higher earnings in Solana compared to what we will collect in Ethereum, but in Solana, we can get a good profit, so in Solana, the chances are higher, or at least it is compared to ETH, just in my opinion.

You are right there will not be any impact with this ETF in the global market. Unless the SEC approves the Solana ETF it won't be beneficial for SOL holders. I do not think such a decision will be taken by the SEC this year as elections are scheduled by the end of this year in the US. Moreover, the Ethereum ETF is not that beneficial so I doubt those companies planning to apply for Solana ETF will take any chance now.

For Solana ETF, it might not happen anytime soon, Ethereum got it after years of existence in the crypto world. However, if Solana can really survive and grow rapidly and consistently even in the bearish era later, and still survive like Ethereum, then it is possible that there will be, it's just that the time may still be quite long.

Oh yeah, if it's related to surpassing ETH, in terms of market cap it seems like it's still a bit difficult, because the difference is still very far. It takes more time to do it. But in terms of technology and development, I think Solana is the one with more significant development and progress.

Solana has a different blockchain and Solana if you look at it has a fairly cheap transaction fee from Ethereum but if Solana is at 3000 Dollars, will Solana's fee be cheap too?
The same point for the community is the transaction fee which is so noticed because each transaction is its characteristic if the coin's blockchain is alive.
If transaction fees are expensive = blockchain is stuck = if it is stuck = dead.

All my time in cryptocurrency, I have never fancied ethereum before and I am a more of Solana lover than Ethereum. I just don’t have that vibe towards it even though it’s doing very well in price than Solana. Back then, projects that have to do with Ethereum are sidelined because of their high gas fees to claim and people mostly go for the ones with little or no gas fees. Solana is also doing well in their prices, but overtaking Ethereum is not what I’m sure of to happen anytime soon. But I’ll still prefer to trade more on Solana than Ethereum and about overtaking Ethereum network, it’s just a matter of time before that happens because more people are concentrated more on Solana network than they do to Ethereum network.

The transaction capacity of Solana network is independent of how expensive the tokens are. When you make transaction on Solana, the figures are in some decimal and if Solana price ever get $3k, I'm sure it wouldn't be that expensive as dev will make it cheaper because that's their main goal, to make transaction cheaper and friendly for everyone using the network.

Unlike Ethereum that even when the price was cheaper, the transaction was very expensive. There was a time paying gas fee was so expensive on ethereum chain that you can't even execute a single smart contract transaction. Some transactions on ethereum requires fees that is even expensive than the token you are selling.

I've won a few airdrops that weren't worth paying the fee to withdraw, because ETH was so expensive  :P
I've even paid 50 dollars in one transaction (smart contract tx)

The advantage of SOL is that you can make several transactions, get a better position in any DeFi you're participating in and if you need to make any adjustments, it's quick and cheap.
With ETH you need to analyze well so that you don't make mistakes and have to make new transactions, otherwise you could lose a lot of money
As I said earlier, SOL is a good network for new users

Just my conclusion because I also noticed that Solana, in addition to the small fee, has a fairly fast transaction speed compared to Ethereum.

If I look at the cryptocurrency community in choosing altcoins, it is:
- cheap fee
- speed
- security

But of the three factors, the most important is "transaction fee", even if the transaction fee increases by 0.5 dollars, it will definitely make the community noisy.

I don't know if really the developers of Ethereum understand cryptocurrency market. Though I am not a developer but I can observe from afar. As a business you most make sure that your customers are satisfied. And you don't have to use high gas fee to pursue them. When bitcoin network was congested and the gas fee was high  which was caused by the ordinals and they deal with the ordinals and the network gas fee is vet low now. Yesterday I even use 3 sat/vb to make transaction with $0.083 or there about. I have used TOn and it is tested and trusted foe now. But some exchanges are taken advance of the network to change customers. Like kucoin. They were not charging anything before but now they charge $1 foe each transaction.

Hmm clear and simple words, I kind of like the way you've expressed your view, but for sure we need to understand that in terms of capitalization and in term of ecosystem SOL need time but in terms of chain development SOL is way better than ETH, SOL is actively adopting new technologies and integrating new features, Sooner or later for sure SOL is gonna be a dominant asset in term of class as we classify BTC and ETH as dominant entities.

The statement in your thread reply is "time will tell" is that true?

Solana needs time to continue to develop in terms of technology, features or attract all communities to continue to support Solana.
The only obstacle for me is that I have heard that Solana has experienced a death in its blockchain, have you ever heard of that?

Indeed solana is a good coin solana technology is sweet and best it is very easy and very smooth to use it has high speed transaction with low cost transaction fee this is good for all users we can easily use all solona based Dexs but it will not overtake the ETH because ETH is going to the surge upgrade..
Your comment highlights the technological advantages of Solana quite well.  Solana has become a really strong option with its high speed, smooth user experience, and low transaction fees, especially for new users.  It has become a platform where developers can easily build DEX (Decentralized Exchange) and other applications, and users can easily take advantage of it. However, you are absolutely right that Ethereum (ETH) is still playing a major role and  Especially after the Ethereum 2.0 surge upgrade, it can become even more powerful.  Surge upgrades will play an important role in improving the scalability, security, and stability of the Ethereum network, which will help maintain its dominance.

It is absolutely amazing the ways the Solana platform has really transformed in recent times, Kudos to its entire team. Now, many of us may remember that the coinmarketcap ranking is not a fixed position, it can change basically because different networks has different approach towards marketing, promotions; creating awareness and most importantly, consistent upgrades to it features frequently.
Etheruem which has been on the second position on coinmarketcap ranking for many years has been overtaken by XRP some years ago, and its also possible that other projects coins/token even Solana (Sol) can overtake Etheruem in near future.
I think that Solana has the potential to hit the number position, any day.

Solana this year has no more congestion during high traffic, that's what I see. So it seems like the Solana team has resolved the problem that occurred last year when there was congestion. Ethereum dev has also resolved the gas fee problem because Ethereum gas fees are also low now, so actually both coins are no longer problematic. The problem is because the crypto market is bearish and the price of bitcoin seems to have difficulty rising.

Yes. The current transfer fees of Ethereum isn't as high as in the previous years. It looks like the transfer fees problem has been fixed already. So, it is not so different with the fees of Solana anymore. In this condition, people must prefer to choose Ethereum over Solana. However, it doesn't mean Solana won't have future, I see many people trust in Solana. But if Solana to compete with Ethereum, I think Solana needs to develop more. There is still a big gap between Solana and Ethereum if we compare their market caps. Even Solana is quite popular, it is still not in the same level as Ethereum.

Solana team still needs a lot of improvement if they want to compete with ethereum, because ethereum's popularity is far above solana. And we know that ethereum's gas fee is now cheap and can compete with solana, so the possibility of beating ethereum is still far from hope. Ethereum will still be the king of altcoins with its smart contract that has been used by many projects.

not to mention that ethereum now has etf and solana doesn’t seem to have any soon so that is still one more advantage of ethereum than solana and can make sure that it stays ahead of solana

i would say solana’s blockchain being used by most memecoins can be one of its advantages over ethereum since many recognize solana due to many projects out there while solana seems to have great potential it still has a long way to go to catch up on to ethereum

When I was present at the altcoinstalks forum, I kept watching the movement and price of the Ethereum coin and there wasn't much information provided by Ethereum. I also kept watching the Solana coin and also didn't see any good information for the Solana coin.
In fact, I noticed that the prices of these two coins, Ethereum and Solana, followed the price of Bitcoin simultaneously. If OP wants Solana to overtake Ethereum, it seems very unlikely at this time because the Solana coin tends to follow the prices of Bitcoin and Ethereum.

If Solana continues to perform well in the development it is doing on their platform, it is not unlikely that the price it has now will increase in the future in the market we are experiencing now. And it is also undeniable that SOL is also one of the good crypto assets to hold in the long term.

And even in the short term, it's okay because it can also provide a nice profit in day trading if we have a broad understanding of the trading activity that we will actually do.

I just assume for now or the near future that Solana has not been able to overtake Ethereum for the classic reason of the community. The first time I learned about cryptocurrency was learning to create a wallet from Ethereum and Bitcoin, not creating a wallet from Solana, Tron or whatever. With the creation of a wallet at the beginning, it was also seen that the Ethereum coin has a lot of supporters when compared to Solana.

ETH is the bigger brother of all alts simply because it's one of the first big alts on the market - it has its ups, and downs, just like SOL - they are different and they shouldn't charge to "surpass" each other - two are going after their own goals and two have their personal problems to solve on their appropriate chains.

Honestly, I don’t care who will dominate, whether SOL will overtake Ethereum or not.
Both projects have proven themselves as networks that are consistent in development and continue to survive even in the most difficult times.
Everyone is free to use the network they like, with their own considerations.
When it comes to investment, the choice between the two depends on the investor’s risk tolerance and their view on the development of blockchain technology.

Yeah. Some like vibrant L2's of ETH, others view SOL as superior due to the metrics of its chain, and so on and so on.
Everybody is free to choose and both of them are good for the investment, in my opinion, and the risks on both are not that high if a person is going long term.

Although Ethereum is a big brother coin, I once read a thread on altcoinstalks that Ethereum has a problem if its network is down, then the fee price is very expensive. This is what makes it a serious problem for Ethereum because the transaction fee can exceed 50 dollars. As for Solana, I have never heard or read that the transaction fee reaches 50 dollars, maybe there are other more complicated problems with the Solana coin besides the transaction fee.

They are both very good network and I don’t really care about their ratings as long as they continue to be a good network and allow me make fast transactions with little gas fee.

Solana had a chain outage that caused it to go down.
Ethereum had no outages but its fees were very expensive.
If you had to choose between the two in terms of outages, which would you choose? Would you choose a low fee but chain outage or a high fee but chain up and running?

I agree with this. Actually, the Solana network's project development progress is very good. Even some of its products and features are actually more advanced and more complex than Ethereum. Solana is not only about the network, but there are also several utilities and products. That's why Solana can adapt faster and compete more closely with several top coins. Until finally it can take over their position and pass them very quickly.

It's just that when compared to Ethereum, the market is still much smaller, so Solana still needs more time to convince more investors and increase its market cap. For now, the target is BNB first, but yes, BNB also has good progress, especially Binance's which is now a top exchange and business in crypto.

There is a need for three or four networks say :

Solana
Ton
Eth

having all three helps to diverge attacks.  The resources needed to attack are expensive and if one is down or slow due to dust attacks you can use the others.

So as long as they continue onwards and we have three or more of this type of coin it is healthier then just Eth alone.

Ah ya... Dust attack. This is an interesting topic :)
Bitcoin dust some time ago has slowed down the Bitcoin network, even transaction processing cannot be done.
However, dusting attacks are not always dangerous, some blockchain analysis institutions deliberately carry out dusting attacks to test the throughput or bandwidth of a network.

I think solana has a lot of potential, it might not be now but I’m sure that with continuous development in the system and if more projects continue to utilize them they’ll surely get to the level of Ethereum and even if they don’t surpass them they’ll still be very close to them in the ecosystem.

The progress of the development of the solana project is indeed better than ethereum, solana is a new network that has shown good progress and is starting to be popular and can compete with BNB, but solana's popularity has not been able to compete with ethereum's popularity, I think it will still take a few years for solana to compete with ethereum. For now, the solana team should start focusing on beating BNB first because binance also has a good and popular team and project.

I don't think so that Solana can over take Ethereum. Even till this days Ethereum used by whales it's not matter of fees it's the matter of Security. A blockchain have to maintain a lot of things in a single transaction. If they fullfill all of it it's transaction cost increases.

If you're on crypto I hope you often faced the issue of Solana Network congestion. In January there was a report that Solana has a huge amount of due for running their node , so they had to close some of them. That time solana network was so much congested even transfering sol was a hassle.

There is a lot of project builted on Ethereum Layer 1 & Layer 2. They builted on same mechanism as Ethereum. Combining all of them market valuation it's hard to achive that points.

Although we can debate if Solana can beat Bnb in future. I think BNB will be his rival.

Both have their own blockchain network, and both have the capability to generate utility coins using their network. They also have the same potential in the long-term holdings. Now, when it comes to stability, they are different, although they can be said to be stable crypto assets in this field of the crypto space.

That's why Ethereum is more established compared to Solana in terms of community and experience in this field. Now, if we talk about which of these two you will get more earnings, that depends on you, but if you ask me, you will get more profit in Solana compared to Ethereum.

The truth is both are actually nice and ok networks just as good as both networks may seem to different crypto enthusiasts, same way they have their flaws and advantages over each other. If I'm to talk about flaw I think one flaw that I see mainly on the Ethereum network is the problem of infinite supply and I have often said that it actually contributes to the reason why it seems Ethereum is quite struggling to create a a new ATH.

Solana for me has a very huge advantage when it comes to meme coins. I've come across a couple of professional pump and dump web3 guys as well as altcoin shillers and majority of them confirmed that most of Thier highest profits were from tokens on the solana network.

Solana has a bigger progress because there are many new projects using the network of Solana. It is different with Ethereum, it is getting rarely new projects using Etheruem network. I think it is because the fees on Ethereum network is expensive. This makes Solana to be more popular in this year. However if we compare which one is better, I think Ethereum is still better. So, Solana just overtakes the popularity in this year but it doesn't overtake the quality of the network itself.

We know that solana and ethereum is also best profitable crypto in cryptocurrency market. So i think that you could express a best comment in your post. We also know that ethereum is one of the best valuable crypto in cryptocurrency world. We also believe that gradually it’s price will increase day by day. But if we follow in solana we saw that solana price is down then ethereum. I think that gradually solana price will increase. But i don’t thing easily solana price could be overtake ethereum.

The project is definitely good but needs more time to compete with Binance and Ethereum projects. New projects are constantly being created in the crypto market, which is why investors do not always have an eye on a particular project. The recent rise of the Solna project seems to have stalled due to the recent hype over the Telegram-based project Ton Network, but the project certainly has the potential to compete with Binance and Ethereum in the long run.

We know that Solna Project charges a very small commission fee for minting NFT tokens and we can say it is perfect for such projects.
Moreover, Solna is able to complete its transaction process in a very quick time. Solna is capable of completing (TPS) 710000 transection simultaneously. In the future Solna will be more influential than projects like BNB and Ethereum.

TON  is  more popular at this time because many Airdrop's participation participated in the airdrop event, the last time we were with minigaments on the telegram.
In my opinion, Solana, the movement is still good in the future, in the future, he can still compete with BNB and Ethereum.
We can still hold Solana until next year, whether there is the potential to benefit.

Even though ETH fees are cheaper now, Solana is still the cheapest.

Yes, but why for now various new projects will much prefer the Solana blockchain over Ethereum because there are indeed several reasons:
- the most important is the transaction fee for sending.
SOlana, without a doubt, the fee is very small, competing with the Binance network. While Ethereum, the fluctuation of the transaction fee is quite large. it is even feared that it will be tens or hundreds of gwei again in the transaction fee for sending even with low mode.

- the hype of the project, for now, the hype of crypto projects is still in the Solana area, although Ethereum was the earliest and used to be very solid, but now it is the era of Solana so it is not wrong if Solan is much more popular to use.

I'm sure memecoins helped Solana's network with the fees, that's a lot of memecoins and a lot of people trying to find the next pump
With little or medium capital, you can do a lot of transactions on Solana, while on the ETH network it doesn't worth to transact smaller amounts, it's very expensive to approve, swap and then sell the coins

But there's also a lot going on at Solana, a lot of people farming airdrops, a lot of projects going on, and the network is working well, without outages and relatively quickly
Jupiter on SOL is also printing a lot of money

Whether Solana can outperform Ethereum is a matter of debate and depends on a number of factors including scalability, ecosystem growth, adoption and technological resilience. While Solana has some advantages in terms of speed and cost, Ethereum's extensive ecosystem, stability, and long-term adoption make it a strong contender. solana may continue to grow and become the preferred choice in certain use cases such as gaming and low-cost DeFi, but completely surpassing Ethereum will require not only technical improvements, but also changes in user and developer loyalty. Ethereum's position as the "go-to" decentralized network is deeply embedded, so while Solana may gain significant market share, completely surpassing Ethereum will be challenging in the near future

Well it's possible because Ethereum seems to be actually underperforming as a result of a couple of factors including supply and hype. For some reason the Ethereum hype seems to be fading off gradually probably because it's performing less than investors expected.  Solana is still in its prime if you ask me and it actually depends on how long it would last.

Even if solana would beat Ethereum in the crypto space generally, it still has a pretty much long way to go. Even as of now solana's price is still less than 10% of ETH's price and that sends the message of a pretty wide gap between them.

The question is, is it really necessary to fight Solana and Ethereum op? I don't think it's necessary, because if Solana ever overtakes ETH, will you make a lot of money when this happens? If they can both provide good profits in the future, it's good for us to just buy both of them if they can both help us, right?

There are many top altcoins in this field that can actually provide us with profits, as long as we are vigilant and research as a holder and investor, that's all op.

Although Sol is faster and cheaper than Eth, the story of market capitalization is not simply based on technology. ETH is chosen by large investors, and the Eth blockchain is trusted by large organizations, something that Sol cannot achieve at present or in the short term.

Opportunities always exist for Sol, but investors in SOL need to have more realistic goals: a new ATH for SOL price and more stability for the network. These are the necessary conditions for Sol to continue to exist and approach Eth in the future.

Yes, ETH has a big community, it has big number of investors. It is a bit difficult for any crypto coin to overtake them. I also don't see that SOL will overtake the market cap of ETH in the near future. It should take the time even if SOL can overtake ETH. Unfortunately, it seems very hard to compete with ETH. Even BNB can't overtake ETH, now it is quite doubtful that SOL will overtake ETH. ETH is still the best altcoin and have the most crucial role.

It will take a long time for solana to overtake ethereum, because the ethereum community is very large and many bear investors still hold a large amount of ethereum.
Anything can happen in the crypto world but we have to see the analysis and movement of each coin so that we have a view that is in accordance with the current reality.

Solana proof of history increases scalability and transaction speed by providing a verifiable timestamp for poh transactions, allowing verifiers to process them in parallel rather than sequentially. Moreover, the solona translation fees are very low so most people now want to continue with solona network. Whereas ethereum network fees are very high due to which it is now being avoided by investors. Especially all the new projects are related to solona and ton network. The Solana blockchain is designed to support smart contracts and decentralized apps in particular. A large number of concurrent transactions contributed to several outages of the solana blockchain.

Yes, The trading in the cryptocurrencies should not be viewed as gambling, it requires mature strategies, proper knowledge of trends, and good management of emotional states. This is due to the fact that high volatility is dominant in this type of market and entry and exit times are critical to the profitability of any trade. Professional actively follow trends and act according to tendencies, besides they take into consideration Technical and Fundamental analysis. These are multiple factors which may include the following; Greed and fear are some of the mental states which are fallacies in most cases they lead to hasty decisions the end result being that you will be a loser. However, when properly managed, trading in cryptocurrencies can be profitable provided there is the right approach and discipline needed in trading.

I also can't deny that Solana is showing more development since last year and until now in this crypto space industry. But that doesn't mean that Ethereum isn't improving at this time. We'll probably only know that when the price of bitcoin starts to rally.

Solana has been waxing very strong on it's network developments, we have been seeing new projects launched on it networks, though many are meme projects, but generally, Solana has great futures.
In conclusion, cryptocurrency is still evolving, anything can happen in future, Solana has the potential to dominate Etheruem, though it is difficult to predict the future of both token in my opinion.

I think Solana has a real shot in certain areas. It’s just faster and cheaper. we're talking 400ms block times and thousands of TPS without relying on rollups or L2s.

For use cases like gaming, real-time apps, or high-frequency DeFi, Solana’s performance makes a huge difference. You can interact with smart contracts instantly and with almost zero fees.

Ethereum is still way ahead in terms of dev ecosystem, security, and decentralization, but from a user experience and performance perspective, Solana is hard to beat right now.

ETH is truly an old coin but has been working tirelessly to keep up with the competitive crypto industry. Just as it is said, Solana has one big edge ahead of ETH, which is their low/friendly transaction fee which is a point of attraction to all crypto enthusiast. If ETH would see to fix this problem, then they will still be at the top of Altcoins chain. ETH has held the 2nd position in the crypto market for a long and convincing time, and I'm sure they are not ready to give it up.

The market is encompassed with competitions, so anything is bound to happen.

Overall, ETH has been very weak lately, especially when BTC corrects.
As for fees, it's worth noting that right now, the fee on the ETH network is only 2 gwei. This is low, but as a rule, it's a temporary phenomenon, and even in such periods, the swap fee is around $1.5, and selling NFTs is around $2.6. In other words, even with a 2 gwei fee, ETH remains uncompetitive compared to Solana.

This is low, but as a rule, it's a temporary phenomenon, and even in such periods, the swap fee is around $1.5, and selling NFTs is around $2.6. In other words, even with a 2 gwei fee, ETH remains uncompetitive compared to Solana.
It is undeniable that the movement of Ethereum prices can be said to be quite slow. In fact, before ETH managed to rise drastically, then this coin fell again.

Have you seen how the price of ETH has been lately? It's really worrying. In the last 7 days, the price has dropped more than 5%. and now, the value is only in the range of $1.7k - $1.8k. This is quite reasonable because the price of BTC is also dropping.

Ethereum has been in a downward spiral since it was converted into a mintable coin. And no one knows how far it will go. SOLANA has become a very strong coin and there is a possibility that it will do much better in the future. And because of the low price of SOLANA, it is in the eyes of investors. I myself am also waiting to invest in SOLANA. And when I see SOL below $100, I will start buying SOL and my target will be to hold at least 50 SOL. Where the amount of Ethereum holding will be 0 in my holding assets

I don't think ethereum is the only coin guilty of this dump, there are some other like Solana itself that has been dumping for some months now, even faster than ethereum we are comparing it with but the reason why ethereum is bad is that it never pump when Bitcoin was puking, there shouldn't be a reason to be dumping now.

I think that meme coins contributed to why sol price was highly move and there has been a lot of political interest in Solana than in ethereum, they didn't make noise like the way sol did last year but Solana made many promises and none seems to be fulfill yet.

It will overtake just because of the gas fees and popularity.

This is a down trend in the crypto market for the past three months of the year, and this has affected not only ETH or SOL, but the entire crypto industry. So, let's wait and see how the market will be after this continuous down trend. Both coins have good networks in the community, the only difference is their price and ranking in CMC.

Yes, it is possible that SOL will surpass ETH in time but we do not know when this will happen because as you said, ETH has already made a good name in the eyes of many while SOL is still in the process of being on that. Only meme tokens are strengthening SOL, so if the time comes when meme tokens weaken because there are really many losers due to scam projects, it is possible that it will collapse. And besides, the marketcap gap between ETH and SOL is very wide now, there are many more coins that it should surpass first before ETH.

I am staking Solana with ease on my Trezor .

I think Solana is too low at 117
I think Eth is too high at 1628

BNB at 580 seems like a true price for this type of coin

Agree. Solana has the chance to overtake Ethereum but we don't know when it is. Solana is getting popular, there are many projects that choose Solana network. Most of the projects are meme coin projects, the meme coins are very popular in the current cycle. But there are too many scam meme coins, so people may feel afraid of Solana network. But in the future, maybe there are more fundamental projects in Solana networks.

Don't forget that Solana directly supports  the mining  of helium hotspot. Which are over 500 k of them running in the world.

I am not aware that eth supports any mining directly like Solana does.

and etc does not allow direct staking on a Trezor.

I can stake Solana for 7% and release it from staking jail in 3 days.

ETH does not match this.

         -     I think the situation of SOL now is like the situation of ETH during 2016-2017, now let's assume that if it is 100% sure that it will surpass the price of Ethereum in these times, maybe I will convert my other assets immediately to SOL then hold immediately always.

But since ethereum is volatile, it is difficult to determine and so is Solana at this time. Therefore, in my conclusion I am not sure if in this season of bull run Solana will overtake ethereum, maybe it can happen but not at this time.

I think the will get closer in value. But 1800 or 2000 is a long way for solana to reach.

Also the 7% easy peasy interest for solana on a trezor means slower price growth as that 7% will slow the price growth

even though ethereum seems to be struggling this year, ethereum is still widely owned by large investors. so I think this year solana can't overtake ethereum,
Maybe in the next few years, that could happen.
because it seems that solana is showing good movement and is in great demand by investors, especially for coins.

because it seems that solana is showing good movement and is in great demand by investors, especially for coins.

ETH is anchor by the early OG's that got in at 25 cents a coin.

it is in there best interest to stake and sell the interest coins.

if they stake at 2 % 10000 coins get 200 a year interest  that is 200x1800=360,000  a year.
This is over 20% of the staked coins. It make eth stable to a huge drop .

And it make it hard to go way way up to 5k

Eth should stay in a 1200-2500 slot for a while.

Solana is not going to get to 1200-2500 for at least 5 years.

So if and when Eth falls to Solana it will likely be after 2030 not before
