Title: How did you convince your family to support you in entering the crypto market?
Post by: KryptoBull on January 17, 2024, 05:06:23 PM
The crypto market is rapidly expanding, attracting the interest of a wide range of individuals, particularly young people. However, not everyone encounters unwavering support from their families when venturing into this domain.

Several of my companions engage in crypto activities but keep their involvement a secret from their families. They fear that their families will disapprove or even forbid them from continuing to participate in markets perceived as volatile, such as cryptocurrencies. Older generations often view crypto as a risky investment with the potential for significant losses. Moreover, due to media portrayals, some individuals believe that crypto is unlawful, not legally safeguarded, and that participating could land the entire family in legal trouble. Convincing families to comprehend and endorse crypto participation proves to be a significant psychological burden for many investors.

On the other hand, those fortunate enough to have family members knowledgeable about crypto and supportive of its potential benefit are more motivated to learn and thrive in this sector. They are spared the unnecessary stress of family disapproval and can focus on their work and investments.

While acknowledging the inherent risks associated with crypto, it's evident that in countries that haven't prohibited it, crypto represents a promising investment opportunity, potentially generating employment, tax revenue, and profits.

Despite my occupation solely involving translating crypto-related documents, several relatives express concern that I am assisting nefarious individuals in undermining national finances. While their imaginations may surprise me, their concerns are misplaced  :(

To alleviate family apprehensions and garner their support, I've employed a few strategies:

Do you encounter resistance from family members opposed to your participation in the crypto market? How have you approached resolving this situation? Share your experiences and let's engage in a constructive discussion.

Sometimes it is difficult to make the family believe that the things they do are right, and that somehow they want to benefit from things, so when we are in a business, trading, or anything like playing in a casino and doing well, it is difficult for some to believe him, because basically things are always done so that one has profits, if the age is one of those who need the approval of his family to do things, he will not do it. I recommend it, in fact I have a very particular experience with my family, because things when it comes to money you can give and teach them everything is fine, but in my particular chaos when they had a good job and with crypto, they never told me nothing.

That was something that upset me a lot, because things must be harmonious, and only for that reason I cut off relations directly, because if they did something like that for money, I don't want to imagine what they would do for bigger things.

I see many people in my local area who are trading cryptocurrencies at a young age, I am often surprised by them. Cryptocurrencies have become attractive to the new generation so quickly which is to be commended. If we collect money from the family and lose it due to our own ignorance after investing in crypto, then after the family comes to know about it, they will definitely accept cryptocurrency negatively. On the other hand, it is natural that those who are successful will take it differently. But the successful ones are those who quickly adapt this technology to themselves who are able to trust. If money can be taken for long-term investment without giving any assurance that is the best way but convincing it is totally depend on own self.

I don't like dragging my family to the cryptocurrency ecosystem space. I do my things by myself and I don't nto involve my family to my investment but if any of them see my progress and ready to invest and I have the chance to teach them I do that so that the burden on me will reduce. Life is a competition and I don't want a family member to come compete with me. But I can I assist them whenever they need my attention I but I will not involve myself fully to their activities. I do my things on my way.

Even till now, non of my family members knows I am into crypto except my wife, and she doesnt even have a clear understanding of what crypto is.
But come to think of it, why exactly should I let my family know or seek their permission before I get into crypto?, when it's not like they are the one to fund me, or give me the funds to invest in crypto.
I find this a bizarre thing to even think about, not to talk of do, except we are talking about a situation where I have to beg my family for money to invest in crypto, then this will be a separate thing altogether as I will have to explain to them what crypto is, and try to convince them that the money they will give to me will not be a waste, outside  of this, i see no reason to want to seek permission from my family before I into crypto.

To alleviate family apprehensions and garner their support, I've employed a few strategies:

  • Education: I've delved into the intricacies of crypto and blockchain technology, comprehending their operations and establishing a safe entry point into the market. Subsequently, I've simplified and shared this knowledge with my family.
  • Income as Proof: My earnings from this market have contributed positively to family life, often exceeding my income from my primary occupation. This tangible evidence demonstrates the potential of crypto to generate financial rewards.

Do you encounter resistance from family members opposed to your participation in the crypto market? How have you approached resolving this situation? Share your experiences and let's engage in a constructive discussion.

Hmmm... I don't even know how to answer that.... But I'll give it a shot.
First of all - I have the feeling that you are talking about children who are not quite old enough, for whom their fathers and grandfathers are responsible and who can forbid them to do something.  This is normal from the side of "parents", because for most of the older generation "all these new technologies are evil and incomprehensible" :)
But if we are talking about adults who are forbidden to do something.... Then it is time for them to become ADULTS, and explain that he is an independent person, and will do what he considers necessary, but not violating the law. And their advice "senior family members" can keep to themselves and for themselves.
So I don't see any problem !

OP, I have this belief that even if I had told my parents or family about my cryptocurrency endeavors, they probably would have discouraged me from venturing into them because of their volatile nature. Some years ago, there was an investment I made with about $800. That was my biggest investment then, but I lost that investment because the company crashed. But after I finally got better knowledge about Bitcoin, I regret why I had ever listened to my relatives to make that investment. If I had invested that money in Bitcoin, then I would have made about 5X of my capital during 2021, when the price of Bitcoin pumped so high. So, even after I learned about Bitcoin, I did not disclose to many of my family members what I was doing. My mom is aware, and I have her support, as she told me, "as long as it's not something that will scam me."

But, I don't need much family support or what so ever to invest in Bitcoin; I just need to determine within myself that Bitcoin investment is what I want to go into, and then I start investing.

Have most of the people here experienced something similar? because at first I also experienced something like that. because this is not work that can be seen in real life. So many people around me, especially people who still think more traditionally, find work in the crypto world quite strange. Moreover, because there are so many negative issues about cryptocurrency in my country, this makes opinions about crypto only get worse.

But yeah, let it be or we will do it. In essence, when we really understand crypto and continue to want to learn, in the end we can earn income from here. In addition, the results are quite good. and we don't need to prove it to them with the results we get. Let them themselves ultimately know and understand what we get here. and in the end most of the family began to understand even though they didn't really understand what the crypto world was like because of their limitations with the digital world.

It is not very surprising because young people are familiar with digital jobs. They know crypto is getting trending in the internet, they must be curious and try to be traders.

Sure, when we collect money from our family and we get losses, they will view crypto as a negative thing. But if we can succeed, they will view it as a positive thing. It is natural, people will judge negativity for something that bring bad results. That's why we must show to others that we can succeed with crypto.

never and will never get support to get into crypto, because my family is very unfamiliar with the name crypto, what they know is that everything is cheating related to crypto, from the beginning I got to know crypto until now I have always been ridiculed by my family for doing things that in vain and never results in losses that are always obtained,
but yeah never mind because this is my decision as long as I use my cold hard cash, I will continue to be in this crypto space until I get tired

never and will never get support to get into crypto,
What the H*** , are your seriously?
It doesn't make sense at all if this happens in my family's life.
This is not included in the category of my family, even if this happens, maybe I will be a girl with the nickname "Bookworm".
Very scary if I am in your family but this is life, surely everyone feels different things and this is seen in front of my eyes.

I am just an ordinary laborer and spend a little time to learn cryptocurrency and my family only gives a little suggestion because the digital world is different from the real world.
Maybe I am in a family who doesn't want to know about cryptocurrency but the most important thing is that this child can be comfortably to do work in the digital world, it is natural that parents are anxious for their children in various jobs. *pray*

Oh...it seems that I am the one that is different here. My family is a family that is opened to new innovation and they accept new opportunities as long as it is beneficial, and can bring profit. My family supports me in my crypto activities, and they are happy about it, even when it was still illegal but they will only tell my to keep it secret. I have involved two of my siblings into the crypto space because they were very eager to know how it works. My younger one was the one that knew crypto before me, but due to lack of knowledge, he invested in the wrong coin and lost heavily. The funny thing was that my parents supported him then with the money that he used to invest and he also told me to invest then but I was reluctant, because I was still in the university. After the loss, this was how they saw crypto as a scam. A friend of my after I graduated from the university introduced me to the crypto space and guided me on how to go about it. The moment that my family saw me having funds and I was taking care of some bills in the house, they asked me how cone the sudden change. I explained to them and they were fine with it.

I'm also trying to let them see that my income from the crypto market is not bad, even better than many others. However, there are many very complicated things about human psychology that I cannot understand, sometimes I just accept their unreasonable objections.

Even till now, non of my family members knows I am into crypto except my wife, and she doesnt even have a clear understanding of what crypto is.

Perhaps this is one of the effective ways to avoid negative reactions from family and relatives, so we can focus on work and earning income. I should have simply shared that I was working as a freelancer and I am translating some documents related to the weather or fashion accessories  ::)

When I first invested in Bitcoin I did not discuss it with my family but in the second step when I invested I convinced my family to pay for the investment by telling them all the positive aspects about the investment. I took money from family and invested all that money but I didn't let them down at all by investing but that investment gave me good amount of profit. It was not very difficult for me to convince my parents to invest because my family gave me the utmost importance whenever I said something and because of this importance I was able to convince my family.

I think this is the simplest and most effective way to convince and gain family support for our participation in the crypto market. Currently, crypto and BTC have appeared on the Internet and mainstream media channels of many countries. You can show it to your family so they can believe in the legitimacy of this market, then all problems will stop in terms of income efficiency.

In addition, the crypto market is just one of many markets in the economy. When this market generates income and does not affect outside life, the family will have no reason to continue to oppose us. I'm lucky because my family doesn't forbid me, they just remind me to manage my personal finances well because every market has its own risks 😁

You are lucky to have made a profit and not disappointed your family. Anyway let's be more cautious next time because sometimes we don't have enough luck in all investments. You have a wonderful family, you have no pressure and can focus on investing!

Family members often get in the way because they are worried about our finances and future. When this concern is resolved in terms of legal framework and income, everything will become much easier.

My family depends on me personally, I do whatever work I do to support my own family as long as it doesn't harm the people around me.
They don't know that I work in the cryptocurrency section because what they know is that I work as an online marketer and create articles on various blogs, such as Blogger and WordPress.
I also have a real job which is quite busy every day and always come home late in the evening and even stay at the office late at night, so they don't know that I am in the cryptocurrency environment.

None and TBH, they don't really care.
After all, they aren't into investments. They don't even know basic terms that's connected to investing.

It's hard to answer that question because I didn't experience it first-hand, but I guess you can use the "Success Approach" on that one. What do I mean by success approach. I mean show your success in investing to them, and let them decide if they will support you or now. This isn't related to investing, but I still remember the time where my family wants me to work as a government employee, but I rejected that. They are against that decision of mine, until I show to them that I'm earning way more working from home than when I'm working at a government until it came to a time where they just let me do what I want to do.

I guess this can also be applied in investing. Let your success be the answer. Let your success convince your family.

In my case it wasnt necessary to convince anybody. My earned money, I can do whatever I want if that does not harm family. I course I was rational and cautious when doing first purchase. I did not jump into crypto on the edge of 2017-2018 with every single cent I have. At first it was a little, test purchase, that increased in value almost 1.5 times during first month. Then I just started mixing altcoins purchase with bounty rewards. It all ended with first withdrawal and vacation tickets purchase. After that, there were no questions if I spend money unwisely or spend time on nothing.

As long as it is my money, I have the right to use the money for whatever I want and I don't need to convince my family about the money I will use. I just need to tell them that I will invest in Bitcoin and understand the risks and that's it. Whether they like it or not is their business, because I don't need to convince anyone for the decision I will take.

The others thought that maybe it was a scam that I was participating in or that I was doing it in cryptocurrency, and I know for myself that they were wrong, and I also understood.

Unfortunately they have this negative ideas that was influenced by televisiion news wherein Bitcoin was being used in any illegal activities. I explained them a lot and even showed them my income from crypto mainly from Bitcoin but still they are not having it so what I did was just ignore and leave them that part because I know what I am doing and argument won't end if I keep on insisting something they don't understand.

Yeps, this is just my own personal experience and this is what makes me sometimes confused by those who want to know about cryptocurrency.
It's not just one or two people who want to know about cryptocurrency, but many people want to know and I immediately gave them a "warning".
This "warning". is because I don't want them to jump in like me because every cryptocurrency trade has pluses and minuses and for those who don't know about cryptocurrency, there could be more minuses.

This is not just about my family because many friends around me want to know about cryptocurrency, but I gave them a "warning". it would be better for me to be considered arrogant and unwilling to share knowledge than for me to have to bear the burden of their trust when they feel the loss of cryptocurrency.

I could remember when I had problems with my own spouse all because of she found out about my interest in the cryptocurrency and how deeply am rooted in it now, I know it wasn't an easy one to explain though but I was just so surprised of how she actually negate the whole thing making it look as if am doing some risky job that would get me destroyed and I should stop at all expenses and it made wonder how come she had this strong opinion about cryptocurrency and it later occured to me is because of the bad image and name is being painted by the media towards cryptocurrency that's make people feel this although we know the risk with crypto but to an extent we actually understand the risk and it's a one worth taking due to vast opportunity available.

First and foremost, I don't see a need to get approval from the people around me even my own family as to my involvement with cryptocurrency. Nobody is funding my minuscule cryptocurrency investments therefore I don't see that need for them to know anything about what I am doing here in crypto space. Unless, of course, there can be someone close to me or even a stranger asking me on cryptocurrency that that can be the only time for me to discuss this topic openly. However, if someone is married then it would be a good idea to let your wife or husband for that matter know what you are doing. Now, having said that, you can also involved your children by letting them know more on cryptocurrency - the good and the bad sides of it - as we know that cryptocurrency is here to stay and it would be good for their future if they start to get involved now. Above all else, educate them but never dump cryptocurrency into their throats.

I follow quote "money loves silence". Family knows that vacation was purchased thanks to cryptocurrency, but I never went into details what and how I earned. They just learn that I make extra money from crypto and that is it. I have never heard encouragements, such as "you are doing great, why dont you invest/buy more to get even more profit" from them. The only thing they know is that whatever I do to earn, I do it legally. In fact, I never wanted for family to get any involvement into crypto. For example I am somehow expecting, that my wife might get caught by investment scammers, or join shady project. That is why I better do everything myself, then monitor other family members not to get into trouble.

It's sad when family members can't understand us, or they don't want to understand us. It seems that crypto is something so confusing, my grandmother doesn't even believe in bank account, she wants to keep cash in secret bags.

What a good idea, next time I will warn everyone about the dangers of high volatility in the crypto market. I hope that when people see that I am always alert to the market, they will stop thinking that I am someone who is FOMO into BTC and DOGE  ;D

I love your opinion. There are people with whom we need to be persistent and spend a lot of time sharing our journey and knowledge in this market. The future is in the hands of the new generations, we need to educate them in the best way so they are ready for crypto in the 4.0 era  ;)

A smart decision! Perhaps we also need to protect our families from temptations and dangers in this market. It would be bad if our loved ones suffered from FOMO and lost money in a scam project, or worse, they would lose their free life when bound by extreme greed and fear in this crypto market.

Congratulations on making a profit in this market and having a family vacation. Does your family now encourage you to join the crypto market to get even more profits in the upcoming uptrend?

When you are able to get money from cryptocurrency, you should collect as much as you can, and after that, open a business with capital from the cryptocurrency you have. Believe me, your family will be prouder than just taking them on holiday for a moment of pleasure when you succeed in setting up a business and running it. smoothly and get lots of consumers, then the money you have will never run out. Many people have taken the wrong steps because they were lulled by the profits they got but didn't think long-term.

TBH, my family didn't know about crypto.
They just know, I'm crypto holder.
Always has suggestions, be careful..
Yeah, It's a good advice.
I don't think my people must support me in crypto.
Because I didn't use my salary, I invest in crypto because I gained bounty reward in the past.

As you said, it is better to earn money and collect it until you become rich, but the process is not easy because you have to work hard every minute and never think about yourself to enjoy a peaceful life. That is the sacrifice that must be made to get maximum results. , and I prefer your way of managing finances through cryptocurrency.

My basic principle is that I don't want to make people experience difficulties, instead of helping them find additional funds in cryptocurrency, when they buy cryptocurrency, their funds actually become minus due to the coins they bought going down.
I have a big responsibility to them if I tell them about cryptocurrency and then their funds are reduced or lost due to trading in cryptocurrency, this is what I was afraid of from the start when people asked me about cryptocurrency.
Not just in cryptocurrency, but in everyday life, my basic principle is not to make people think hard or experience difficulties, for example at work or doing other activities. :)

When you don't use your or your family's savings to invest in crypto, the risk is less because in the worst case, you just waste time and get less reward. Bounty is a popular way for many people to start participating in this market. When the risks are less, they also become more bold.

I earn income from translation work in the crypto market, only a small part is invested in this market and the majority is used to pay bills, but my relatives still think I'm wasting my time in a criminal work. How confusing!

I believe that we always hope for the best things to happen to our loved ones, but sometimes things are beyond our ability. Perhaps all we can do is remind everyone of the huge risks in this market, the risks are never smaller than the opportunities!

I have the same opinion with you not more motivate for teaching or recommended some one else investing in bitcoin, when bitcoin or altcoin recommended to buy going down their assets increasing dump and we have much responsibility with their losses. Afraid when some one else losses their money in trading after my recommended them invest in bitcoin, right now I change my mind not really show my habit with cryptocurrency to protect any one never ask me about crypto.

Not all business worth ask the other for investing, many of them not ready when investment position loss but they will forget us when profitable position.

Do you encounter resistance from family members opposed to your participation in the crypto market? How have you approached resolving this situation? Share your experiences and let's engage in a constructive discussion.

I didn't have encounter resistance from my family members opposed to my participation in the crypto market.
TBH at the beginning, they didn't know what I did.
I just invested in crypto and did trading.
I have gained profit, yeah it's the proof..I have success in crypto.
I told them, It  from crypto investment.
They glad and support me.
So, I didn't have problem.

I didn't think that I would have to convince my family at that time that I would jump into the crypto world. because basically, I still have work offline and that's enough. What I did on the side in crypto was at first just for fun. But in the end, this actually makes quite a difference, not only financially but also to our mindset about the vast digital world.

So in the end, even if the family knows about this, they will still support it because there are indeed more positive sides. However, they did advise you to remain calm and be careful of all the risks involved. Although basically, they actually don't understand enough about this. So whatever it is, it's actually normal advice. it's just that it really fits the conditions in crypto.

Hmm, a pretty interesting topic.

Convincing a family who have never seen such technology as Bitcoin in terms of currency or technology is very difficult, so it is very difficult to convince them. In fact, the older ones support the younger ones in the work that they know or have experienced. Despite the worrisome concept of Bitcoin, it is no less than miraculous for these people of the old generation, so therefore, according to my estimation, our mother or family is not ready to invest in Bitcoin, but they feel fear of investing in it.

So I personally think that this is one of the reasons why most of our families are not in favor of adopting Bitcoin. But anyway, it means to say that on this topic, we should encourage our families, etc., that Bitcoin is a good thing and needs to be adopted.

Parents are always driven by the instinct to protect their children. Since cryptocurrencies are frequently in the media with allegations of being used in illegal transactions, parents who do not know about cryptocurrencies naturally have false prejudices against cryptocurrencies. I am not old enough to ask permission from my parents. I didn't ask anyone's permission and I didn't care what anyone else thought when I was in this market. However, if I needed such permission, I would probably act in secret and continue to be in this market without saying anything to anyone. I am a person who likes to take action instead of talking a lot. :)

Honestly, I don't think too much about older people knowing what cryptocurrency technology is like; they are old, and let them enjoy their lives well without having to think about what digital currency is. They prefer paper currency to carry out transactions to purchase basic necessities, whereas if they have difficulty carrying out digital transactions, they will definitely ask their children for help and let their children carry out the transactions. Parents don't need to worry about thinking about how to do it.

Yeps, not only in cryptocurrency but also in various business sectors the risks are definitely greater than the opportunities that will be obtained.
Moreover, this cryptocurrency has a very fluctuating price value, of course for ordinary people it is very nice to work with cryptocurrency but the real proof is that we Veterans are not doing well.
Not to mention that ordinary people know Rugpull, are exposed to liquid when trading in Futures, etc. This is very dangerous and I don't want to bring them into a dangerous environment in cryptocurrency.

Not all business worth ask the other for investing, many of them not ready when investment position loss but they will forget us when profitable position.
This is what I'm afraid of and this has happened to a friend of mine who brought his partner to cryptocurrency and the results were as you said.
Let me give an example with Friend A and Friend B :
-My friend is friend A and friend A invited friend B to buy cryptocurrency and unfortunately the cryptocurrency was not Bitcoin or Ethereum but what they bought were altcoins that had just been listed on the market.
-After several altcoins dumped badly (because it was just FOMO), friend B ended up blaming friend A because he thought friend A was giving misguided advice.

I think, before someone considers telling their family about crypto, they should first of all, know how crypto is presented in the country they reside, whether it is legal or illegal.

Asking my family for support to enter into the crypto space, is something that I have never done before because I don't want whereby I am be questioned on what reason I am into crypto. Is it not better for me to abandon it and look for something else to do since crypto is projected as a scam by some people?

Nevertheless, only a few of my family members know that I am into crypto. I haven't in a day as them for support in it. I do my investment the way I want without their questioning or involvement on why I should invest in a particular coin or not.

Entering the crypto market is not what to go about telling families about. Is about getting the right knowledge and knowing how to invest rightly with your spare money. So, there is no much support from family members needed to join the crypto space

I also never did this, and I won't have an idea to do it in the future.  :D
I don't want to involve my family members into crypto space, especially if they don't want to join crypto.
I also never try to ask any support because I think it is unnecessary. What for? They even may not know crypto?  ;D
Sure, there are many people assume that crypto is scam. But I don't know what my family member think about this.
I only share the information with my wife.

Exactly, I agree with you. Base on the names people are calling cryptocurrency parents might not giving the permission to their children to participate in the cryptocurrency ecosystem. And if it happens, it will be the families that are known the benefits of cryptocurrency that can allow their wards to join the innovation. And I know that my parents are not cryptocurrency friendly ones then there is no need to ask them but to go ahead and start investment. But whereby there is no money with me and I need money to kick start the journey then I will do a skill job to sponsor the plan.

        -   I will only focus on the title made in this section. When I entered the cryptocurrency industry, I did not inform my family about it because I was an independent person at the time I started here, as I was just starting to build a family.

Then I didn't ask them for help with what I'm doing here in the crypto space. Besides that, when the time came that I was making a profit here, sometimes I was able to provide help in terms of finances somehow, where they no longer asked me what I was doing as long as all they knew was that I was doing bitcoins.

I think that I don't need to convict them. One of the problems that will occur is if I don't have money and income for my family, that will only become a problem and debate. but as long as I have it, this will not be a problem for them. The important thing is that this is not a crime and we have explained that. Technically, they don't want to know too much about this so just explain as necessary. Because usually they are not critical enough for this kind of thing.

Independence gives you autonomy, which is great. In case your family wants to understand more about the market, do you have a plan to explain to your family your current investment work? Or will you ignore their question to avoid future questions?

It's good that your family understands that your job in this market is generating a good income, and they trust that you're doing the right things with your money and security.

I was not so lucky. Even though the internet was popular, there was always noise around me about the legal dangers of the crypto market  ::)
