When a gambling person becomes completely addicted, it is very difficult to bring him back from that position. If you have a friend who is addicted to gambling and can't get back to a normal life, then you can advise him how to live a normal life and make him aware of gambling?
If a family has a gambler then that family must face a lot of problems but if you have a friend in such a situation how do you bring him back and make his family smile?
-
I would not offer help if he doesn't seek it. I could try to open up the gambling addiction topic but I won't force if he doesn't want to share anything.
I think cutting off the source of fund is one of the best ways to help them indirectly. If he borrows money and I know that he'll likely use it to gamble, I wouldn't give him any. Maybe I can consider if he only asks for loose change.

I think rehab is the only way a gambling addict can be treated fully unless he will personally refrain from it and do something to really avoid further involvement with gambling activities. A gambling addicted must have this diversional technique for him to divert his mind from doing such activities and focus on something else. No one can really help a gambling addict except himself and through counselling from rehab facilities.
-
There is no way that you can just help your friend by telling him. The gambler who is addicted to gambling should go to rehab and spend a few months or years there with the help of professionals. I am not sure how expensive it is, but this is the only way to stop an addiction because you cannot do it on your own. Ive seen a couple of people that went through rehab, and most of them got rid of their addiction.

Many will say it, and it is the only truth; professional help. Just like how drug addicts, or any other addict could get some psychological professional help, you need to get help from a professional to get better. For some people it is small enough that if they see a doctor once a week then they will be better, for some it is big enough to stay at a place for a few weeks or even a couple months to get better. That depends on the level of the addiction, but that is definitely the situation that we will see in the upcoming period, we are not going to really have anything that would be all that different.

I don't know if you know many drug addicts or alcoholics, but a lot of them go to rehab and a lot of them do well for a bit after getting out. The problem is, most of them relapse and end up going right back into the same activities they were doing that sent them to rehab.
A person is only going to change if they want to change. If they are your friend, try to spend more time with them and occupy their brain with something other than gambling. Show them there is more out there.

For someone who is addicted to gambling, I don't think advice will suffice, they need professional help to trace the symptoms of how deep gambling addiction got a hold on them, and the only way to help your friend is to get him into a professional because the professionals are the people who can help them laid out a plan of treatment.
You may help should part of the cost if you are that serious about helping your friend because a gambler's rehabilitation will cost money talk him out and urge him to undergo rehabilitation and you also helped his family.

You cannot cure a gambling addict except he accepts that he is an addict. This is likened to the saying that you can take a horse to the river but you cannot make it drink. It means you cannot help an addict unless he agrees that he needs help. This is the first step.
If he accepts this then the next step is that he should deactivate all his Betting Apps and unfollow all the gambling-related pages and sites he follows on social media. Remember out of sight is out of mind.
Introduce him to programs that will help him heal because addiction is a problem and some programs have been designed by some psychologists and counsellors to help people dealing with addiction. He should join such programs with a positive mind that is, make sure you are devoted to attending the programs because revival comes from attending and abiding by the guidelines that will be given.
This will be of great help.

I admit that it seems very difficult for me to make them aware of how to recover from gambling.
Because I have also noticed that even those who have gambled until they are old will definitely continue to gamble, even if they gamble with little value.
The addiction to gambling is so strong that people lose their appetite for food. It is impossible for people to lose their appetite every day because eating is the main human need.
In my experience, around the place where I live, there are old people who continue to gamble with their friends and their gambling ends up isolating themselves in the middle of the forest or in the middle of the rice fields. Damnnnn!

Gambling addiction is something that is inevitably to be avoided especially those whose gamble to get rich due to their situation at hand could easily likely to suffer this problems so, the easiest way to eliminate that is to get them job where they could be very busy at work because when someone is always idle what he thinks is the easiest way to make money and for that the only alternative for such person could be going to gamble or regularly visiting the casino house.

It is not possible to completely eliminate any addiction, but if there is good behavior in the environment and harmonious relations, people can definitely get rid of any harmful addiction. If your friend can be treated well by keeping him in a good consultation and amicable environment, then surely your friend will be able to control himself from the terrible condition of gambling. But if your friend does a good meditation and then put him in rehabilitation, surely your friend can get rid of the harmful addiction of gambling.

That's very correct mate, because you telling the addicted person or advising him won't help me at all because their is always the taught of trying again on their mind even after a very heavy loss and that kind of person can only get help from a place that only professional I that field operate which is a rehabilitation center. Gambling addiction is similar to being addicted to drugs because the urge never goes away and even as they know very well that they are harming themselves it doesn't stop there so advice is not an option but an active rehab center Is just the way but the only issue here is the funds to sponsor it because I know over here that such services are really expensive.

I think it depends. If that certain friend is looking to change their life and overcome their addiction, I am willing to give a hand and do everything I can to help them. Because I know that the decision to help themselves should always come from themselves first. If I don't see anything that my friend truly wants to make a change in their life, I'm not sure how much I can do to help them.

I'd advise you to mind your own business, and only give feedback or suggestion if the person in question asks for it.
It applied to other bad habits as well such as alcohol addiction, being overweight, being whore/player, etc. You never know if the person in question hates you because you intervene in their life. So many sad horror stories arise because they bear a grudge against you, remember their brain isn't working properly to begin with.
And if and only if they ask for feedback or suggestions via deep talk, then you can start to slowly give them positive reinforcement and support and then forward them to the professional. It's not your job to fix anyone.

If a gambler does not find a source to manage money, then he will get involved in various criminal activities, especially in bad activities like theft, robbery, murder and drug trafficking, he will try to manage gambling money. So if a gambler cannot refrain from gambling on his own, then he must face some punitive measures as well as fines and imprisonment. And if a gambler decides to stop gambling on his own, then family rehab along with some medical measures can surely bring him back from this horror. It should always be remembered that if a gambler receives cordial treatment and care, he will definitely be able to control himself from gambling.

Gambling addiction is a complex condition. To find a solution, one must first understand the underlying problem.
Seeking support and consulting with a psychiatrist are additional options.
It's important to admit the addiction and look for triggers. Limiting access to gambling sites and engaging in positive activities can help divert attention. Sharing experiences with family can also reduce the psychological burden.

You are absolutely right because an addicted gambler must be placed in an environment where he can continue to receive mental and physical treatment. He must stay away from gambling and remove himself to an environment where he cannot easily participate in gambling. He should always be entertained and treated in a friendly manner by keeping him in a friendly environment. The gambling addict should be placed in an environment from which he should be connected with some new and exceptional educational system. When placed in such an environment, a gambler will slowly learn to develop a controlling mechanism within himself.

Keeping him away from the gambling environment might indeed allow someone to reduce the intensity of their gambling. But we also have to help more deeply, because usually an addicted gambler will take the time to continue gambling even though he is no longer in the gambling environment, especially now that there are many online gambling sites.
If it is severe then in my opinion it is better to be taken to experts, such as psychiatrists and others. Because it could be that their mentality is already disturbed, and makes their thinking power can no longer work rationally to think about the risks they will experience when gambling.

There are some ways to cure addiction and if these ways fail you can hand him over the the government.
- The number one thing and the most important thing you have to do to an addict is to let him understand that he is addicted. If you want to help someone who doesn't actually admit that he is addicted, you are just wasting your time. He must first admit he is addicted and honestly seek solutions
- Isolation is another step. You have to isolate the addict from his immediate environment. This will help him disconnect some gambling friends which could be bad influences and start a new life
- Engagement is the last step. After you must have isolated the addict, engage him with work so that there won't be an idle time to think about gambling

I wish that we could finally cure one Person of this Terrible thing that is aid, but unfortunately there is no magical formula that can be used by everyone to cure them, but unfortunately that is not the case, because we are not equal, we are so people that our personality is Very different and that for any case there are always different treatments for that here in these Forums , it is best to talk as best as possible about what they can do, the best is to give advice to see if you can help someone who is you going through this situation, and thus be able to do something for them.
I am a Person who Would love to be a millionaire, I Want to help People not only addicted to Gambling , but also to drugs, with everything that people may need , I feel that need to Cover it but Ultimately it is useful to Have a lot of intention and not financial means, that's why talking About good advice here is worth a lot , because we can be saving lives.

If it has become an addiction, then like it or not, there must really be cooperation from various parties. It can't just be from the gambler's self-awareness. This is very unlikely. Because after all, we understand that gambling addiction is usually quite complicated. Therefore, cooperation is needed between the gambler's strong intentions and desires, support and assistance from the family and environment, as well as treatment from professionals. Because sometimes, we as his family don't have the qualities to help manage his emotions and self-control over gambling. And medical professionals certainly understand better and can carry out rehabilitation or treatment to help restore the disorder's condition from various aspects. Meanwhile, our family needs to support it as optimally as possible and control or monitor it at home. because after all we are the closest people. Don't let us put pressure on the gambler.

-If you have a friend who is addicted to gambling and can't get back to a normal life, then you can advise him how to live a normal life and make him aware of gambling?-
I only work in a garment factory and I rarely see them (my friends) gambling, but there are some male friends who gamble online.
And I see that my friend who gambles is not addicted because even when it comes to working in a factory, he is safe or maybe my friend has not yet reached the stage of "addiction".
If only his position was addicted to gambling, it seems I would be more afraid to give him advice because he has a physical character, his body is taller and bigger than his other male friends.
I also seem to not care about my friends who are addicted to gambling because it is their right to gamble. What's more, if someone in my family gambled, maybe I would reprimand them wisely.
-
If you have a friend around you who is addicted to gambling and his family is in bad condition because of this addiction and your friend is trying to get out of that gambling addiction then you should help him. Because if you help him this time he can definitely come back from it but if your friend doesn't want to then you can't get him out of gambling addiction no matter how hard you try. If your friend wants to get out of gambling addiction, all of you should give your friend time and try to keep him away from mobile devices and other devices. Don't let him stay alone, try to keep him busy all the time and make him focus on physical games, you will see that you can bring your friend out of this gambling addiction.

Gambling addiction is a mental health and if you have this then you can go to a psychiatrist for treatment. I know this because i talk to a doctor about this one and he said that psychiatrist is the one that handles drug addiction and also gambling addiction. This also need family support for him to fully heal.
BTW, how can we differentiate a normal gambler which is not addicted to and a gambling addict?

Family support is more effective in treating gambling addiction than medical treatment. But medical treatment is also necessary but the biggest treatment is to keep him in a pleasant environment and always treat him well. He must be kept in an environment from which he cannot easily participate in gambling. An addicted gambler can easily get rid of addiction if he can rehab in a good environment. But if he is mentally ill then he must continue to see good doctor as well as good family support.

Gambling and smoking have something in common: once you start, it's hard to stop.
Just like smoking, it takes time to reach the addiction stage, but if done regularly and continuously, it won't take long to become addicted.
A person who is addicted to cigarettes may only harm himself, but a gambling addict will harm those around him because he will do anything to get money so that he can gamble, steal, lie, or even commit other crimes.
Maybe your friend is not yet addicted to gambling, but gambling has damaged his financial stability. Financial management will be disrupted.

It is not all gamblers that have financial problems. It is not all gamblers that cause nuisance. There are many sane gamblers and those ones don't regret gambling. It is when gambling is taking out of proportion that it will become a bad thing.
Someone who earns $1000 monthly and gambles with $50 will never be financially troubled. What is needed is the discipline to stick to his budget and all will just be fine. So, it doesn't sound well to believe that every gambler must be addicted, no matter how long it takes.

This won't be easy when we really have gambling addiction, right? Because gambling addiction is usually complicated. there are many problems in it, it could be related to continuous desires that cannot be controlled, leading to huge debts. And gambling addiction is really dangerous and also has a negative impact on him, the environment and certainly his family. Therefore, if you want to stop, there are several things you must pay attention to to support it:
- Strong personal intentions
- Yan's family is fully supportive
- Rehabilitation
- Special treatment
- Significant monitoring
This won't be easy to do, so you have to get help from other parties.
-
First is to make the addicted gambler realize that his gambling habits are very unethical and can be harmful to their future. If they agree with you, then you can further come up with you healthy practice that can prevent them from gambling for some times or you can either make a gambling timetable for them and also team them how to manage their bank role. It may not work for everyone but in critical casea, you can see a psychologist.
-
This gambling phenomenon cannot be separated from everyday life and every time I make a post it is also based on facts every day in the real world.
I work in a private company and my boss gambles online, perhaps more precisely, my boss is addicted to online gambling.
After all the employees and company advisors found out, my boss didn't know whether to stop gambling or continue because every day he liked to come to the office.
While he was aware of gambling, I was also one of his subordinates who responded to him talking about online gambling and I also often reminded him not to gamble online often because it has a negative impact, but my boss ignored my advice and instead ignored my advice.

Bringing a gambling addict back to a normal life Although there is a lot of difficulty, nothing is impossible if the right effort is made then it is definitely possible to bring a gambling addict back to a normal life. First, be friendly with the gambling addict. He should always be gently talked to in such a way that gambling is not good and can destroy a man very quickly. One should always associate with him in such a way that he is always smiling and talking to everyone in a cheerful manner. A gambling addict should be more passionate about sports if he is always happy and plays sports for fun then he can easily get back to normal life. Also for a gambler gambling should be taken as entertainment and never used outside of entertainment. Always gamble with a fixed budget and never gamble above the specified budget. If a gambler can follow all these rules then he will not be addicted to gambling.

If a gambler can follow all these rules then he will not be addicted to gambling.
I`m not sure all these things can help an addict. Let's understand that people who became addicted have failed to set and stick to a budget. You cannot talk to an addict about budget and he acts on it because he already has an impulse disorder meaning that he is controlled by his impulse and not reasoning.
Some addicts don`t have behavioral problems so they act friendly and live a normal life but within them, they are not happy. Addiction is not made obvious immediately and before it is known a lot of harm might have been done already. This is like helping someone with a mental disorder in fact to me, an addict has a mental disorder so talking to him gently is good but not capable of changing anything. What assurance that he will follow the advice when you leave?
I think there are more effective and resulting ways of helping an addict.
Therefore, if you want to stop, there are several things you must pay attention to to support it:
- Strong personal intentions
- Yan's family is fully supportive
- Rehabilitation
- Special treatment
- Significant monitoring
This won't be easy to do, so you have to get help from other parties.
I support the above measures. Strong personal intention is vital because you can`t fix something you don`t understand. To eliminate gambling addiction you must admit that you have a gambling problem. Stop denying and start seeing the negative effect gambling has on your life. Now that have recognized the problem, you can seek support from family. Then other measures as identified should be followed.
-
The only possible way to cure gambling addictions that I see is to find something that will replace gambling and make former gambler brain busy and focused on something else. If a person already is in trouble and is addicted, then addiction can be cure with other addiction. Imo once person gets addicted to something (not exactly gambling), then this is a irreversible process. To start, it is necessary to find what emotions addicted person searches in gambling, and offer him something where he can get similar. For example, if a persons gambles because he loves the adrenaline he gets from unknown result, then he should be offered something that can give adrenaline to. Parachute jumping, extreme sport. Maybe something, where a person can gain progress and reward for it will do well as well.

Good point right there. Identifying the problem is the most important thing to resolve it so I think taking an assessment is what makes us the possible causes and effects of our gambling addiction. We have to do it step by step so we will end up having good results if we really need more attention or treatment.

Diverting to other activities might be one way to make an addicted gambler forget about gambling, but it's also a process.
Assistance from his family may also be one of the solutions. I think family intervention will be very influential. Usually gamblers will spend their money in a short time, so maybe the family can monitor their spending every month or even every day.
If his spending exceeds the limit then his family can question him, and of course if he spends it on gambling it will be difficult to answer. The role of the family is very important in this case.

Maybe your friend is not yet addicted to gambling, but gambling has damaged his financial stability. Financial management will be disrupted.
I see my friend as normal in his gambling, maybe not yet addicted.
But for most of the people in the area where I live, gambling is like a frightening specter and really needs to be avoided.
What you say is also true, maybe my friend is not yet addicted, so he doesn't show any symptoms of gambling.
I'm also not sure whether my friend's finances have been affected or not, because I only heard and saw his friend when he talked about online gambling.

But where I rarely see people who gamble successfully win at their gambling or they keep their gambling winnings a secret when they win.
Most of the news in my environment is that many people lose and suffer from gambling, so many people also advise to stay away from gambling. :'(

A player with a strong addiction can only heal his own understanding of his problem. More precisely, even the fact that he must have great willpower and the desire to change his life. And this cannot be achieved through force to such a player. I mean, only his own desire should lead him to get rid of gambling addiction and not everyone can do that. I've seen a lot of players crying and saying they won't play anymore. But it was clear that they were no longer able to change their lives for the better.
-
Gambling addiction only affects me financially, I think. When a person gambles and it becomes addictive only when he gets double profit from it and is more interested in playing it. In this way gradually he becomes addicted. But I think that's when he's going to be financially strapped and see the big impact it's had on him and his family. Most likely he will then give it up. Actually pressuring him for this does no good. When the gambler is able to understand the matter, he gradually comes out on his own.

You made me reply with my true situation when I was with my ex-husband and when a gambling addict has entered someone it is definitely difficult to let go of that addiction.
We have a small family, my husband, me and my child but everything changed drastically when my husband gambled, everything ran out like gold, motorbikes, houses, everything was sold by my husband and this is a very sad story.
I didn't want to dwell on sadness and took my son to a better environment, in the end we separated and now my ex-husband is somewhere.
My ex-husband also doesn't provide support for my child and I let him because I don't want to see him again.
My story is quite descriptive for the title you wrote, I hope something like this doesn't happen to other families.

Unfortunately, your family has experienced this kind of situation where you have separated with your husband. Your husband did not realize that there's a possibility for this kind of situation to happen because of his choices about his gambling activities. His actions have become the reason to have done damage to your family, which makes it hard for you to discuss the issue and work towards a resolution.

It's like what Zed0X said which I completely agree with, it is a mistake to try to help someone who did not ask for help, as in most cases, such humanitarian care doesn't always end well, as most end, you either end up making yourself an enemy to such friend, or the friend him or herself makes you his or her enemy, simply for trying to force him or her to leave what he or she enjoys doing.
So, before offering to help a friend, make sure such a friend have come to the point of self realization, and he or she have on his or own realized that his or her gambling activities aren't helping him or her, and have decided to stop but doesn't know how to, this is when it's clear that such a friends indeed needs help.
And if I have such a friends, I will do everything withing my power and knowledge to help him or her come out of his or her gambling addiction, things I could do includes advising, monitoring, discouraging him or her from gambling, even offering to be his bank account where he or she can save his or her money, so his or her money is safe from him or her using the money to gamble.
-
Gambling addiction only affects me financially, I think.
I agree that gambling is an addiction that cannot be easily given up without the will to come out of oneself, or if one has experienced financial ruin, one has only realised that one has gone the wrong way and it is too late.but there are those who are able to forget about it by giving other activities that they are interested in [sports, singing, etc.] so that they can forget about gambling because they have already found a replacement.but everything must be supported by the family environment so that they don't fall into it again, with strict supervision.
-
The only possible way to cure gambling addictions that I see is to find something that will replace gambling and make former gambler brain busy and focused on something else.
Of course it is a process, and a long lasting process. Like with disease - takes little time to catch it, takes week or more to cure. In addition to your commentary of family help - the addict himself must want to be cured. Without it, it will be waste of time. Family is the first instance who need to spot there is a problem and start insisting on treatment.
In conclusion: family must spot the problem and find gambling addiction replacement with other addictive activity.

If you have a friend who is addicted to gambling and can't get back to a normal life, then you can advise him how to live a normal life and make him aware of gambling?
In general, no. It is up to the person themselves to seek help, which they usually only do after they have hit rock bottom. You cannot help someone who does not want to be helped. If this happens and they ask for help, if it is someone close to them like a family member or a close friend it is fine to get involved but in the end it has to be the person with their own decision and with psychological and/or psychiatric support who has to get out of the hole in the end.
-
You can not feed someone if they refuse to eat. They can always puke it out. It has to come from their own choice. If they decide to not quit, you can't do anything to make them. They need to volunteer on their own to quit. Even if you succeed in making them quit, if they find any way to get back on it, they will immediately.
In simple words, you can't unless they choose to. Rehab is a good way to do it but same thing again. If they find ways to do it again, they will do it.
It all depends on the person whether they want to quit or not.
-

It is unfortunate that your family has found itself in a situation where you and your husband have separated. Without your husband realizing this to be the outcome of the choices he made regarding his gambling activities. It is possible that his actions have caused irreparable damage to your relationship, making it difficult for you to discuss the issue and work towards a resolution.
Thank you for your sympathy Dabs, I'm fine now and it was my past that was really bad. I am now trying to be happy in a new environment.
After that incident (divorce), I also tried to look for a new job in the real world and finally I found a new one real work and with this altcoinstalks forum which is friendly to all members.
I actually don't want to talk about my tragic story in the past but when I look at the "gambling subforum" I always remember, this is like a phobia.
But I try to have the courage to describe it in each of my posts according to what has happened, this pain will always be there but now I feel comfortable with the new environment, the new real job and the altcoinstalks forum. :)

The cures for a game addict can be very different from one person to another, this is something delicate, but I think that each person has their personality and their way of acting and it is something that varies in all of us, so we have to make the difference. You have to do everything in other ways , study how the person is and see what is the best way to cure it, through treatment or Something like that but what I say is, if the person has enough money, then let him go and can generate better exclusive treatment.
What I can say about this is that there are ways to combat Addiction , such as doing activities that tire the person, that do not give them much time to think about the game because they are doing things, and one of them is doing sports. , taking Routines of that style , doing other activities , something that arrives at night with a lot of sleep, with a lot of tiring because I eat , Rest and sleep.

It is important, that this change of life style, routine, feeling of boredom did not play negative when this persons finds time for a short gambling session. Tired person is easy inattentive and irritable. That is why to what you have written, I would add that there must be someone who can monitor and control addicted person activity. Not a nurse or nanny, or someone whose advice addicted person would listen to.

The willingness of the gambling addict to be able to end his activity is also one of the factors where the possibility of recovery will be faster. The drive from within is something that addicts must realize.
I will give an example like cigarette addicts for example, they will never stop smoking even if the family forbids it if there is no desire to stop.
But if they really want to quit they will be able to do it, even if the family doesn't forbid it. This is a simple example of a gambler.

One of the ways that cigarette addicts have to quit is if something disgusts them, that's the only way, I don't see any other way, my grandmother used to smoke for everything and for nothing, then I think she got a cockroach and now There he never worked again, not even by chance, in this case things can be very different because they have always been given so that they can be done in other ways, I personally think that that is one way, with disgust, or the other So the person who smokes makes a promise before God, the Heavenly Father, to never smoke again. It's the only thing I see that helps, because anxiety is the only thing that attacks the person the most to make them more addicted.
In the game I think it's difficult to leave it because one person? Her family is the only one who can intervene and also do other types of activities like going for a walk, playing a sport, something like that, but the rest things don't happen just like that, it's a long process.

Hmm!! This is not something one can just say it with a mere mouth but the actions of the two party must be carry out. If your friend is an addict then your own is to advise him and tell him to stop. Give him some of the instances and if there is money take him out to some events centers to dance and drink to forget some of the gambling memories. But all the same it is not easy to cure a gambling addict.

Of course, it is not easy to escape from the trap of gambling; apart from not doing it yourself, anyone who does anything to give advice will not be able to change the habit that has been developed.Gambling is a disease that must be cured, and the cure comes from doctors, medicine, and your own desire to recover.Again, everything is up to you if you really want to recover. There are many ways you can do this by keeping yourself busy with the games you like so that you don't think about gambling any more.

In fact, for gambling addicts who have lost everything, they can be said to hate gambling, but yes, they still hope that something big will come to them when they gamble, so that urge is what makes them ultimately continue gambling.
Yes, what you said is true, they will stop when they feel disgusted. But they also have to have serious intentions as I said before. When they only talk about wanting to stop but in their hearts they still want to do it, then they will continue to do it. Sometimes coercion is a last resort.

Cigarettes are acceptable and both unacceptable comparison. We all know how nicotine pollute lungs, make teeth yellow, not to mention all those cancer problems, that manufacturers stick on packages. Yet this does not stop people from smoking. Also there are people who are heavy smokers, yet live longer than those who did not. Strange paradox to quit smoking if you know that there is no 100% win from that. The price of cigarettes play a big role also. A pack of cigarettes cost nothing, compared to utility bill or money we spend on food daily/weekly. Even if the price is high, it is still affordable. And compared to smoking, you can make a pause. In gambling you can lose infinite amount of money if you dont stop, but you can gamble for hours non-stop. While smoker cant smoke cigarettes one after other for hours. Different kind of addiction.
-
First is to make the addicted gambler realize that his gambling habits are very unethical and can be harmful to their future. If they agree with you, then you can further come up with you healthy practice that can prevent them from gambling for some times or you can either make a gambling timetable for them and also team them how to manage their bank role. It may not work for everyone but in critical casea, you can see a psychologist.
We can consider gambling addiction and drug addiction simultaneously. I have seen gambling addicts who have lost all their money and wealth just because of gambling addiction but their life was very good before gambling addiction. The society we live in has many people who are a little different from normal people. Unlike normal people, they are addicted to gambling and we cannot bring them out of that addiction even if we try hard. Maybe we try to spend time with them in different ways to stop them from gambling but whenever they get free they go back to their old ways. A normal person's brain does not work the same way as a gambling addict's brain. A person who is addicted to gambling will take a good word even if it is bad, and if you keep saying good things regularly, the addicted gambler will try to avoid you.

My point here is that the addiction, we can make a comparison of the similarities to make abandoning both activities, even though they have different roles in life.
I hope you can understand what I said before. One of the things that I have encountered that I think is similar is that cigarette addicts will eradicate if someone starts advising them to quit smoking. For example, if someone says that if only the money to buy cigarettes was saved it would be very useful, and those who are already addicted to smoking will answer with a rebuttal.
Likewise with gambling addicts, they will answer "the money I use for gambling is my personal money, what is your right to prohibit because I don't harm you".

That advice is no longer useful for addicts. What they need is help from professionals who understand their addiction and understand how to treat it. Because when you advise a gambler, they will tend to think that your advice is offensive to them, and they will not listen to anything you tell them, even when you are their friend. So instead of wasting your time advising them, it's better to advise their family to take them to a professional for treatment.

He is absolutely right because in case of a professional gambler he can be easily recovered from any addicted condition. Nonprofessional gamblers do not follow any rules, but they will never accept any consultation or advice given to them. A non professional gambler takes gambling as a source of income whereas a professional gambler takes gambling as a source of entertainment. So a professional gambler can abstain from gambling no matter how addicted he is.

Good point but how about the average guys who cannot afford for a professional consultation? Some of these gambling addicts that belongs to the lower class in the society they're bringing it's addiction until death because no one cares about them and I don't think if they have this courage or having an initiatve to cure themselves.

What is gambling rehab then? For drug and alcohol addicted this is special facility, where you visit doctors, do sports, do detoxing, group and individual chatting. What is going on in gambling rehabs? What do they do for treatment? Take away gadgets and close patient alone in a room? Because if gambler get socialized, he can play rock-paper-scissors for food or something.
I think in every enagra there is rehabilitation for gambling or this kind of behavior. In several countries it seems like there are many kinds of addiction rehabilitation, not just for drugs. Maybe you need to find out whether there is addiction rehabilitation in your country or not.
In the US, there are several of them:
https://americanaddictioncenters.org/gambling-addiction
because gambling addiction is quite harmful and can cause various crimes. Therefore, you need help from special treatment who can help optimize the process more specifically and continuously.

Here in my country I know there are few of these rehabilitation centers for gambling addicts but I haven't heard of them on social media or news I don't know if addicts are interested on this or not because I can only hear drug addicts on socmed and news being thrown to rehab facilities and or there is an upgrade in such facilities.
-
they are just going to brag about how much they've lost in the rehab. they may be able to share their stories but how are they going to forget?
its going to take a long time for them to forget about living outside gambling. one cure for this is to look for a job for them which if they got out of the rehab, he can come with you and work to make money.
sometimes gamblers learned to gambler because they are idle and has nothing else to think about. idle mind always going to be influenced by external person. he needs some other influencer and something that will keep his mind busy and a new job will do it for him.

I think here in my country we only have alcohol and drug addiction treatment centers and we don't have rehab for people who are addicted to gambling.
People who are addicted in gambling needs family support and this is not easy to treat this kind of addiction compared to those who are addicted in drugs or alcohol.
As other people said here in my country it's better to be addicted to drugs than addicted to gambling there are many rich who become poor due to this addiction.

The problem with gambling addicts is that if it has become a habit that is not easy to give up, it is no different from being addicted to illegal drugs. As long as they still have assets that can be sold to gamble, they will do so until the situation is truly dire and they can't do anything anymore. You are right, the people who are most ensnared are the lowest class of society, and of course, it is difficult to access treatment from experts. If they can't seek treatment, they have to have a strong will to get rid of the addiction. As long as they have the intention and are aware of their mistakes, it's not impossible to change.
-
I think that the cure Laws for a gambling addict are very Different , because at the time of doing an analysis things can be very different, each of us has a Personality and a way of Acting , each of us has different thoughts and we can say that it is Well , that's bad, each one of us makes very different decisions , some very good Decisions, others I really don't know, but they are very bad, then when I see things like that I think they have to do something to be Able to generate a better way of having a better life , so according to this, there is no one-size-fits-all solution , for a Particular person the cure may be very different or different from that of another.
That is why each person has a way of seeing theAddition in Different ways and Given this, the Decision is made that each of us has a different treatment for this Type of problem , that is why a Professional is needed , here we can give general advice , But it would be good to Know what state your Addiction is in so you can say or Advise Something.

Gambling is indeed a disease that's requires a lot of attention to stop, it's quite sad that chronic gamblers lose a lot of money in gambling and still pay for therapy that wouldn't even solve the problem, the only way to cure a gambling addiction is when the gambler decides to do something about it, this is honest truth, you must be willing to do everything to limit yourself, no one can always be there to look over your shoulders and control your impulses

Once addicted to gambling, it is really difficult to get back from that addiction to normal life and I think it is no less than any drug addiction. Sometimes rehab is needed to bring them back to normal life. But initially, their close relatives and friends can play the biggest role in bringing them back. And in this case I think they should be given a lot of time in the beginning so that they forget about gambling.
And at the same time chat should discuss with him what are the problems in his life and the reasons behind it. Gambling addiction must be the reason behind most of the problems in his life and bring them to him. And he should gamble within the limit and invest in gambling as much as he can afford to lose.

Gambling can be a disease if you play too much then this leads to addiction, if this is the case then it is difficult to treat it requires a lot of attention including the belief to stop and this is not easy to stop gambling from addiction.
If you want to recover as a gambler then reduce gambling or do therapy as you said, whatever the way just do it, including going to a psychologist for help on how to stop gambling.

If a family has a gambler then that family must face a lot of problems but if you have a friend in such a situation how do you bring him back and make his family smile?
Me doing it alone would not be helpful for him. Why? Because I'm not an expert.
What I can do though is to report his situation to a rehabilitation center and from there, they will help him recover and help his gambling addiction disappear.
I don't want to help him alone because I'm pretty sure it will not help him at all. Giving him some advices might help a bit, but still if he can't stop himself from gambling then it's pretty much useless. Sometimes, an addicted gambler will only stop if something bad happens to him. Things like, his car got sold, or his house got sold, or his family left him already. I guess I'll let the experts to their thing when it comes to addicted gamblers. :)

If you want to recover as a gambler then reduce gambling or do therapy as you said, whatever the way just do it, including going to a psychologist for help on how to stop gambling.
It takes a great deal of effort and time to recover from any type of addiction, whether through self-help or with the assistance of a therapist, because the addiction has eaten so deeply into the gambler's life that overcoming it is like giving up a part of himself. This is the true nature of addiction, and it explains why it is so difficult to overcome.
Based on the foregoing, efforts should be made to avoid addiction at all costs rather than becoming addicted and then attempting to seek treatment. Gamblers must limit their gambling time in order to maintain control over their gambling urge.

There will always be a desire to continue their addiction that makes everything more difficult. There must be help that comes from others and one of them is someone who is an expert in the field. I believe that everything can be cured as long as there is a desire and someone to help.
As social beings, whether we like it or not, we will need other people to treat this kind of thing. Maybe some of them can recover without help, but if their addiction is very high then it is still difficult for them, they may even commit crimes to fulfill their desires driven by addiction.

if you have a friend in such a situation how do you bring him back and make his family smile?
Is that friend or family member ready to change? because if they are not ready to change any effort that you put or invest towards trying to make them change will just be a wasted effort. If the family or friend is someone who is willing to change, then 50% of the problem has been solved. As for the other 50% you can help them get into a recovery program with professionals who are skilled with handling people with addiction cases. If you try to help them on your own it may not be possible because you do not have the professional skills to help someone who is as addicted as the person who you want to help. Addiction has levels and to some levels of addiction, professional help is required.

Help from third parties is extremely effective. To overcome addiction, an addict must rely on a stronger force beyond his control. Third parties, such as family, friends, psychologists, and guidance counselors, play an important role in helping an addict. The experts will provide him with mental and moral encouragement, as well as guidelines for overcoming his addiction.
The role of family and friends is to ensure that, even in the absence of experts, the addict follows the instructions given to them by the experts. This will go a long way towards helping the addict overcome his addiction. Though difficult, it is possible, as you noted.

Yes, the role of a third party will be effective. I will give a simple example of this. For example, in controlling the activities of someone who is addicted, it can be observed by a third party or family, if they have an income every month then it can be taken over by the family to control their finances, this is safer than the money being held by an addict.
Maybe at first they will not accept it, but I believe that gradually they will get used to it and they can reduce and maybe even recover from the addiction.

Gambling addiction has to do with recklessness in gamble. Gambling addiction is a major societal problem in Nigeria currently.
It's common to see young adults with long slips belonging to different and several betting platforms.
If you know anyone who's a gamble addict you will understand the intensity of the danger of gambling addiction.
I strongly think gamble addicts should be taken to the rehad or correctional centers

in the rehab or a correctional center, they may encounter same gambling addict people who can;t stop gambling even inside the facility. i once visited my cousin in jail, he's a lot smarter when he got there. for once he didn't know how to gamble when he first got in jail. when he got out, he seem to be well aware of lot of things especially gambling.
i'm not sure what effect this would give to gambler but he certainly can gamble still even inside the detention. what i can suggest is just experience will make him stop in the end we all go in such phase in life.

Addiction is an illness that needs care and encouragement and not condemnation. A person who is trapped into a certain problematic looping, requires a surrounding that can free him or her from it. Each of us has an obligation to fix the lives of people around us, to guide them to the place where they can start recovering if this is what they need. A cup of coffee and an open-ended conversation can be the first move towards change on a large scale. Everyone should unite and help reconstruct the new lives of the sufferers from addictions, creating comfortable environment for recovery.

It's not only on Nigeria, but most of the developing countries has this kind of "disease" where people are opting to spend some of their money into gambling hoping that they will become rich with the help of it. They don't even care about the possible risks that they might face, and the effects that they will get when they spend more time and money in gambling.
I've seen people who got addicted heavily into gambling and even though they want to stop, they can't because of the feeling of wanting to gamble is still on their body. This is where discipline comes into place and TBH, rehabilitation centers aren't a requirement if you want to remove the addiction to your body. Being disciplined is already enough, but this is very hard to apply especially if you're an addicted gambler already.
Gambling addiction really is dangerous because it can ruin one's life. I'm not saying that don't gamble, but gamble responsibly. :)

Gambling is very addictive, most especially, when the person has made some big chunk of money from it, and then starts facing losses on a long run, they still believe that, as they continue playing, they'll hit again.
To help a gambling addict who is a friend, I'll say to him, in every gamble he plays, he'll give me same amount of money he use in playing, be it he wins or not. By the end of the month, I'll show him the total money used on gambling, and then seat him down and do some mathematical calculations, showing him why he needs to stop or reduce his gambling activities. Yet, using the money to buy something without him having to take from it.
This method will mostly work on those who doesn't get much big wins, but little wins.

It’s absolutely right because if a juvenile is in a family, then that family is not left to be completely empty so if you have a friend around you who is addicted to gambling, give him honest advice and try to bring him back to the right street, his family will be very happy and love you all. Joa is such a bad addiction if a boy is addicted, then many boys become addicted to him and destroy society. So make everyone aware your responsibility-duty if someone wants to be addicted to win than you surrounding you, hinder him and try to return him to the right street with honest advice.

Yes, when a person is addicted what they need is understanding and to get out of that problem as soon as possible, there are many who say that it is difficult, almost impossible to get out of that, but I am one of those who believe in the cure for all diseases, then addiction is not something difficult to overcome, the cure exists, only the person has to put in their will to get out of the problem they are in, then yes, if it is necessary to be in another environment, in other places to get better, then welcome, anything to do so that they forget about these senseless addictions.

When someone becomes addicted to gambling or anything else, it must be considered a disease. The common thing about an addicted person is that he does not have common knowledge. What he does is completely unconsciously. Although this kind of thing is not seen in the case of gambling, it is a good idea to take him to a rehabilitation center as soon as possible if he is addicted. If the gambler cannot get out of the addiction, he will have to lose everything. A person must be sent to that center before he loses everything. So that he does not lose everything.

There is no miracle that can be done to bring a gambling addict back. The only thing that can help the person is his frustrated feelings base on his personal experience from gambling. Experience they said is the best teacher. Let the person learn from his experience. The contributions we can make is to advice him to reduce the way he bet and exercise self control as required.

There are lots of addicts who are unaware of their addiction. How do we have such people who need help but not aware that they do? I think it behoves on us to convince them to visit a psychiatrist, a psychologist or a guidance counselor

How can you persuade someone who believes he does not have malaria to take medication just because you believe he does? It is challenging. So it is to assist someone who does not see anything wrong with the way he gambles.
To easily help an addict, he must first admit to having a gambling problem. Nobody can help a gambler who refuses to admit he does not have a gambling problem. He will not agree to go through therapy or even see a psychiatrist.
