Has any of these suggestions being applied yet??and what's the current updates on these proposals?

A reporting stats on the "report to moderator" page should also be on the senator's priority list this year - member suggested it.

I haven't seen this proposal in the Senate, at least not since I was voted into that membership. I've looked at some previous discussions now, but I haven't found anything about it (Forum's Senate board).
It would not be bad to have accurate statistics, but I think that there are other more priority things that will have a more direct impact on raising the quality of the forum.

I seem to remember that the last thing that was talked about on this topic was to repeat the vote on that proposal so that users of a specific rank and above could vote. The problem is that many new accounts registered only to vote against that proposal.

This is the link https://www.altcoinstalks.com/index.php?topic=327813.0 posted earlier this week, I'm surprised you haven't seen it yet.
It has a senate board that is visible only to senators, where possible changes to the forum are discussed. Some proposals did not even pass the discussion in the Senate, while some were voted out and presented to all forum members.
That's why I wrote "I haven't seen this proposal in the Senate" because there was no discussion about "reporting stats on the "report to moderator page" in the Forum's Senate.

I know and that's exactly the reason i left the link behind so you can create a discussion about it on the senate board for further deliberation since the topic hasn't been created before

Only just noticed your comment, but planning on going with a final proposal in senate soon enough... just been busy lately.

It'd be based on non-restrospective karma requirements for ranks, so nobody loses ranks over it, but ranking up difficulty increases in the future...

Overall its probably the fairer option and the only one that admin is will to get behind anyway, if it's even possible to implement that is.

Proposal: Karma requirement for ranks (https://www.altcoinstalks.com/index.php?topic=326311.0)- 03/12/2024 🛠️
* In late 2024, the Forum Senate discussed karma requirements for ranks as part of a first phase of proposal. Having explored and voted on 5 different options, the senate then voted between two different proposal. The proposal was shared with the community to discuss and vote on.
* In March 2025, the proposal was then returned to the senate, with the exemption of demotions, which passed 12 with votes. It is currently pending admin implementation.

Updated, per recent senate proposal approved. It is on admins high priority list, intended for April is the latest.

This is the current working draft of such requirements, pending tweaks/changes:

Man, it looks like I have a long way to go before I can reach the legendary rank! I currently have around 500 posts, 700 more to go, lol!  :P (or is it the activity count, I'm a little confused)

By the way, how do the demotions work? Is it based on negative karma? If your karma decreases below the limit, your rank gets demoted? Something like that?

the karma rank rule will not affect your account, post count is a rule that applies from the first day of the forum. also, all current users would keep their rank, regardless of the number of karma points.

there probably won't be a rank demote, except in extreme cases, but in that case, karma rank means nothing. it will probably be the moderator's reaction.

So the new proposed Karma rules only apply to accounts created after implementation?  What is the purpose of these additional rules if they do not effect existing members?

I currently have fewer than 250 karma required for legendary rank, so technically, I should be demoted to Hero under the new karma system, isn't that how it works?

The karma requirements will directly effect existing users. It will be a requirement to rank up, only users won't be demoted for lacking the current requirement. Same as btt when it happened basically, ie not done retrospectively. Obviously no karma airdrop as we are not starting from scratch on karma here, there is already plenty distributed, more than enough for all high quality users to rank up without delays, as many are simply lacking activity requirements.

No. You would remain Legendary to put if simply, per above. This was the initial proposal, discussed with the community, that has been replaced by non-retrospective implementation.

I hope that clears things up, even if there are still some minor details to factor in (as examplens has already addressed). Will keep users posted on developments either way.

What about them? They still get to teleport their rank regardless.

Anyway in other news I've called a snap election for President in the Senate, for Freemind as Pres and Jokers as VP. Will see how that goes I guess.

This is actually a good question.
Will the teleported members also get karma points in accordance with the forum rank or will they still start from 0 as before, regardless of the rank.
This should definitely be defined before implementation

Asking if they're going to have default required X karma airdrop to them based on the new karma system or we're still going to have teleported legendary account with 0 karma instead of 250.

This should definitely be defined before implementation

An amendment to the current approved proposal may be in order here, as personally I'd vote yes, but senators may disagree.

Should I create an amendment to the proposal? Assking senators opinion here specifically, as is relevant t for consensus.

I think it's worth discussing. In some cases, it can cause additional questions during the teleport, because we have already seen that any insufficiently explained rule can cause additional drama.
It should definitely be defined preventively. In the end, it is the admin who will most often be the target of these questions.

There's totally no need in that. The ranking system of our forum is based on activity, all requirements just freeze activity growth if not met. Since we don't airdrop time spent online, we have no need in dropping anything required for ranking just to teleport, activity is enough.

There's totally no need in that. The ranking system of our forum is based on activity, all requirements just freeze activity growth if not met. Since we don't airdrop time spent online, we have no need in dropping anything required for ranking just to teleport, activity is enough.

So to clarify, as I haven't fully understand both of your positions on this, would the teleporting process be:

A) Teleport rank; teleport activity, thus achieve rank teleportation. Ie no karma requirement for teleported ranks, but obviously ranking up from there would require it.
B) Teleport activity; teleport activity, no rank teleported as lacks required karma. Teleported users rank up much quicker due to activity teleportation.

Obviously there would be no karma teleported, that much is clear already, but are we talking about changing the teleportation system? This is like another topic altogether really...

Personally I'm inclined to think the second option makes sense, but there are many pitfalls as it were. We've had the teleporting option for 4+ years now, if users haven't teleported their account by now than it makes me wonder why the hell not, mainly. Tho I do still see newly teleported members arrive, that otherwise wouldn't have likely joined up to rank up if it weren't for teleporting rank, and then there are the users who joined btt in the past few years, ranked up, teleport here, which totally makes sense and should remain encouraged.

Option B would by default disable teleporting rank, which would be a dramatic change, and would very well discourage users from teleporting in future. Ranking up by teleporting activity would otherwise be a very quick thing to do, even rewarding one might say, at least to get to senior/hero member I think. Definitely do-able in a month or two for high quality users.

The bigger question is the following: Is this forum popular enough, a big enough community etc, to change the teleporting process? Probably not is the answer here.

Therefore sticking to the original approved proposal, and leaving teleporting system along makes most sense to me for now. Also probably best to see how karma requirements for rank promotion plays out first, before trying to change more aspects. We can always review teleportation again in say 6-12 months based on new karma requirements implementation. I have a hunch that admin also has no desire in changing the teleporting system, so probably don't need to make senate proposal or anything afterall.

The bigger question is the following: Is this forum popular enough, a big enough community etc, to change the teleporting process? Probably not is the answer here.

The answer to that question is no. Although the forum is growing (the numbers speak for themselves), it's not yet popular enough.

In my opinion, there's no need to change the teleportation system. When a user teleports an account to this forum, he should receive the activity granted by their default rank (as it has always been done), but karma should be generated in the traditional way, as it has always been done.

I also want to remind you that initiatives like this reward Karma to the most active users and those who contribute the most to the forum in terms of preventing spam and other types of abuse:

Moving Karma and avoiding abuse (https://www.altcoinstalks.com/index.php?topic=325917.0).

Initiatives like @examplens' idea to make our forum account more secure also grant Karma:

✅ Stake your Bitcoin address (https://www.altcoinstalks.com/index.php?topic=321705.0).

Earning Karma to reach new ranks would not be very difficult for users with a minimum of experience and who have normal activity.

But as I always say, that's just my opinion.

No, I just additionally noted that no karma drop was meant from the very beginning, because rank teleporting needs activity numbers only. But right, to achieve newer ranks after the teleportation all previously required conditions must be met.

Let me understand this correctly, so let's say I am a hero member on the other forum and just signed up here and requested a teleportation of my other forum's rank to my newly created account here on this forum..

What will be increased on my altcoinstalks account is my Activity level to enable my teleportation to Hero member, no karma will be added on my account here based on my other forum's earned merits? Which in other word simply means that it's possible for a new user on this forum to become a hero member even with zero karma by the reason of or due to teleportation?

What you say is correct. Only the activity required to become a Hero member would be awarded, but no Karma would be granted. Therefore, that user would have to earn Karma through traditional means to access higher ranks. The user would start the journey on the forum as a Hero member but with 0 Karma.

The admin and other moderators should focus on moderation, enhanced reporting of spam, this will keep the forum sane and avoid anything that will discourage participation. Don't make ranking up difficult, just be very lenient on users such that people who are frustrated in the other forum will come here for solace. In the future, when the activity here increases, we can introduce all we want. This is my 1 cent.

All moderators deal with and worry about spam (and other issues) on the forum on a daily basis, and this will continue to be the case. However, this shouldn't distract us from other equally important issues for the forum, and the most important of all is its users. Ensuring that all users have equal opportunities on the forum isn't easy. There's a lot of information to verify in order to sanction those who try to abuse it, but at the same time, we must be very careful when making decisions so as not to harm those who abide by the rules.

Our main mission is to make the forum as a whole work as well as possible, while also encouraging the participation and involvement of all users. That's something that takes a lot of time, especially so we don't rush into making decisions. Still, we always make mistakes of one kind or another.

Calling the election early for Freemind and Jokers, congrats to both you. Well deserved  :)

Thank you ;)

In anticipation of a "Where did my yellow icon go?" based topic:

Yellow icon from profiles removed (https://www.altcoinstalks.com/index.php?topic=326593.msg1752594#msg1752594) - 15/04/2025 ✅
* Admin has removed the yellow icon from local mods and newly teleported, it remains only for under review and inactive/rebound email accounts.

Too many forum updates but key suggested features in the suggestion box are still not being implemented. The yellow badge was cool but with little or no importance to anyone..

I commend the admin for recent updates no doubt, but I'm eager to see more new major forum features.

Aren't we all  :)

Admin is also pretty busy IRL right now, or at least that's the impression I get from knowing the guy for so many years...

Things will get done, likely altogether in a batch, it'll just take some time when admin finds some.

The yellow square removal is merely confirmation of existence for now.

No major updates quite yet, apologies for the disappointment. Admin is currently working on major changes on test sites, which has been slow, so patience is a virtue.

(Progress is being made, but due to rendering issues there are some delays. It's obviously better changes are implemented correctly rather than badly that leads to bugs later on...)
