Well many a time many users have made different posts and threads trying to find out few information about couple of things like tags, badges and even custom titles on the forum. In fact not just these there have been others also that members try to get more information about certain things they may come across on the forum.
Anyways, the main point of this thread is for members here to give out little hints or explanations of some unnoticed discoveries on the forum more like a thread containing "Did you know" facts about the forum. I believe it would help us notice more features on the forum faster.

Definitely it can save lot of users from replying to the same questions again and again, it's just easy to quote such thread as reply for such queries.
And anyone is free to create one too and admin actually encourages such threads and might reward with some Karma too.

This was a nice idea and you make it in such a way that everyone will have to bring forward their own view and table it as a suggestions for recommendation, if accepted then the forum may see to it for implementation or even the members as the case may applies, i think the one on my mind is that of the already create thread by @babo for the community award and i think we are going to receive more inputs on that.

Well this may not seem new but I think it's actually worth the call. Don't know how many persons have tried the quick reply button to reply to posts without making a new page open up plus it's nice though I think it would be more interesting if the forum had a JavaScript to auto update pages without basically needing the viewer to reload on his end .
Well I don't know how feasible it is though since it's been quite long since I did some web related coding. Anyways what's your think?

An idea came to my mind from your topic, I have seen this kind of topic many times in Bitcoin forums where a topic has been opened with a complete guideline for beginners or newbies where many important posts and forum features have been linked to the post.
And I think we also need this kind of topic in this altcointalk forum. Although I don't know if such a topic is already there. I will analyze these after today and if possible, I will try to open such a topic in the future.

Apparently, you can place giant image banners at the top of the page, and not some turkey murky HTML that Bitcointalk used to place.
And "Attachments and other options" doesn't actually have any attachment options.
And the PM system sorts incoming messages in a weird way. First backwards, and then top to bottom, where the very last message is the most recent one. Doesn't really resemble a mailbox, now does it?

no need mate just guide any beginner you see towards the beginners section of the forum and there they will be find multiple pinned posts of guidelines here in the forum here is one for example info topic: basic info, FAQ, groups & sections (https://www.altcoinstalks.com/index.php?topic=180511.0)
i am actually was expecting more of like fun facts about the forum rather than rules to be here in this thread like when did it first opened who were the first members or just interesting facts in general maybe there could even be a competition about it and the one who answers a question about the forum correctly will get a reward

That requires lots of server resources to begin, with the current forum software, AJAX or Websocket can be applied to it to make your idea possible.
And "Attachments and other options" doesn't actually have any attachment options.

Since the forum needs more activities, it is better for the person who want to know more about the particular information to create thread so from there others can learn. There is news feed at the home page but that is not the good place to show such information. And all the things you have mentioned are in one thread or the other. So if the person is navigating the forum, he or she will see them in the forum and ask questions on such thing. It is not good to keep those things (questions) in one thread as here. Let them be spread.

I don't know of any thread that has covered unnoticed things, but as you said, mentioning some findings that can be new to many here on this thread of yours can be useful in creating a mega thread, but only if someone who creates that mega thread will give credit too hehe as they are motivating and healthy.
Well the first finding which is very awesome for me is to use the Toggle view on Text editor, as many might have knew about it but I just came to know about it and it is really awesome so what it really allow us to do is we don't have to click on the tags manually as in order to bold a text I had to press that Bold B in but if we will have Toggle View enabled we can simply press ctrl+B and the text will be bold.
Same goes for Italics (ctrl+i), Underline(ctrl+u). I hope it relates.

Yeah I actually do understand your point but still it seems you don't get the full idea of this thread. It's not basically for questions though they are ok , the main reason is for stuff lol ke fun facts that people may have not noticed but can probably come in handy.

This is actually quite funny because I've made use of that button majority of the Time and still I didn't notice the fact there are actually no attachments there. The only things available there are just the regular post settings plus this forum doesn't seem to have a self moderate button for posts.

This is something exciting, I try to share my experience with this one.
Do you know that we can give Karma - after we press karma +... in the sense that this is a correction of the actions we do...
So for example, if someone has karma 100, then you want to give karma to him... when you intend to give Karma + and press the Karma + button, it will make his karma gain 101, but when you give karma - a few minutes after that giving karma +, you will see the amount of karma from 101 to 99, not 100 anymore.

i mean this is not really specific to the forum alone these are keyboard shortcuts that you can use anywhere however this is still very helpful because it could be a hassle for some to highlight and then move your mouse then click the icons here in the forum when you can easily just use your keyboards not a lot of people are very tech savvy and others may not even know what the icons are for here in the forum when we type up a reply or a new post

I make use of mobile phone to access this forum, so finding some features might not go too easy with me.
But one thing I found out, is at every point I make a post, it takes me out of the topic of discussion, so by chance I clicked on Attachments and other options directly under the text/comment box, I found out Return to this topic is the tool I've been searching for and Don't use smileys I have not really tried this, as I have no need to use it yet I think.

Hmmn this is a little surprising. Sometimes why surfing or toggling across the forum I have mistakenly hit the negative Karma on some profiles and what I do immediately is I hit the positive Karma button once again the cancel out the negative Karma. The few times it has occurred , the karma always went back to normal on my end.

Yes overtime I believe more things and little discoveries will be noticed on the forum and soon a great deal of questions would be answered by this thread. Compiling FAQs will be a nice move too but I think more issues need to be fixed to make the thread have a ton of info.

When I post anything with URL I see a [nofollow] alarm next to the URL. I don't see it with others.

It's actually a rank related stuff . Basically the forum kind of uses that to warn members and visitors indirectly that that particular user recently got permission to post link so you need to be mindful of how you click such links. Basically links and images are a little restrictive on most SMF forums including this one.
As you grow in rank that particular tag would stop to appear when you post links or images. Infact in an earlier rank you won't be able to post any links. It's actually to prevent phishing and scamming.

In addition to the option to continue the natural growth of your account, you can access Rank Express (https://www.altcoinstalks.com/index.php?topic=146555) if you want your account to have the privileges of a higher rank account, such as posting links without the "no follow" tag appearing.

Also, new services often decide to hire one of the marketing managers to announce on their behalf without similar restrictions.
@Freemind, you can probably give more precise info, is it maybe a good idea for new accounts to contact the admin to possibly allow them to open a complete ANN about their service, without restriction?

I suppose it would be possible, but those accounts would have to somehow demonstrate (a simple tweet or email from an official account would be enough) that they are going to launch an ANN of a project. Until now it was done with the rank express to eliminate the limitations, but personally I don't see any problem in having both options. I will talk to the administrator to get his opinion, since he is the one who makes the final decision.
