Cryptocurrency discussions / Re: Bounty 14 days good or not?
« on: September 29, 2018, 08:27:59 AM »
Length of a bounty is not really relevant, it's all about the quality of a project. There will always be a risk that it may not work out, even if a project isn't a scam. Just don't get involved with every bounty on offer, be selective and read up on the project before getting involved to reduce the risk. You should get an overall positive response, even if some end up being worthless.

You can check the bounty section as someone mentioned above, you could also check out ICO websites and see if they have ongoing campaigns. Easiest way is probably just to use the search function on the forum if you're looking for something specific.

There are plenty of threads detailing how you can take part, not much point in repeating the same information when it's readily available.

Cryptocurrency discussions / Re: Longest ICO period ever?
« on: September 25, 2018, 11:33:46 AM »
There is definitely a growing number of ICOs that are being extended. I can only surmise that most of the extensions are due to the current market conditions and projects are struggling to raise the necessary funds. Could also have something to do with the number of ICOs when compared to the number of potential investors. Hopefully things will improve over the next 12-18 months.

Crypto Meetups & Events / Bahrain
« on: September 24, 2018, 06:12:20 AM »
Anyone up for a meetup in Bahrain? Got a venue ready, if we get some interest we'll make it a regular slot. Already doing informal meetups every week anyway, but would be good to get some more people involved.

Read the details in the article of Coinidol dot com, the world blockchain news outlet: https://coinidol.com/zimbabwe-crypto-is-criminals-best-friend-social-engineering-effect/

Read the details? No need, you completely plagiarised (almost) the whole article. I thought the idea was to put your own spin on current news, you might as well just have put the title, link, and nothing else. Anyway, the information was decent, so thanks for that.

Thanks.

Just hit double figures on Karma, nice to know that other members have appreciated some of my posts. Aiming for the big 50 next, so it might take a while  ;D I need to be more proactive in dishing out Karma to other members too, I tend to comment instead.

I had a few profitable trades early on, probably gave me too much confidence to be honest. I would rather have lost early to learn lessons when I was still trading with minimal amounts. As it was I didn't learn until I had built up the volumes I was trading, meaning the lesson was more expensive. Ah well, lesson learned. And in answer to the actual question, my best trades were on Powerledger, Lumens and Stratis. Made good money on all of them in a very short time span, although I wish I'd kept Lumens and Powerledger.

I can believe it. Trading (especially crypto trading with the high level of volatility) is definitely a form of gambling, albeit one with a high level of skill involved. It's one of the reasons why you need to learn quick to remove emotions from the equation, don't get sucked in by FOMO or FUD, otherwise it can be tempting to chase trades. Plan and execute.

Cryptocurrency Trading / Re: When is the best time to buy?
« on: September 22, 2018, 03:34:15 AM »
The right time to buy is when prices are falling dramatically.

Prices have been falling 'dramatically' for months now, that's exactly my point. Are we at the bottom now, or is there another bottom once again? It's tough. Nice to see a bit of a rebound over the last couple of days, but I'm still expecting another drop. I guess we'll just have to wait and see.

I hate posts like this. Please don't just ask 'Give me your opinion'. Put a bit of effort in and give us yours, it really doesn't take long. And I'm not saying to just add in an imaginary figure, tell us why and how. If you turn out to be wrong - no worries, most people are anyway (even those that have been playing this game a lot longer than we have). Thanks.

Cryptocurrency discussions / Re: Do you have a goal ?
« on: September 21, 2018, 04:04:51 AM »
Goals in crypto, or any sort of trading, need to be flexible. You can't set a goal and just stick to it blindly. Best bet is to find your buy and sell zones, be strict to stick to them, but only as far as conditions don't change (which can literally take minutes). So yes, it's important to have goals, lots of constantly changing ones.

This is to ensure I'm not losing money at any point.

This is all well and good in practice, but there is no way you guarantee you're 'not losing money at any point'. If it was that easy, everyone would be doing it.

In answer to the OP, I'd ladder my sales out, and make sure to keep a bit back in case it really flies. Start selling at around 20% up, can always come back in if it drops. And it's not easy to keep emotions out of it if it jumps up rapidly in a short amount of time. I guarantee a lot of people could have made much more money if they'd sold back in January, but the 'red mist' takes over and people get greedy (me included). I hope I learnt my lesson, it was a tough one, but will only know for sure when the market starts moving again.

One of the main problems with this forum is that the majority of members seem to put earning before learning. The only way it will improve over time is if the focus is on improving knowledge to increase the number of people that visit. That's when more advertisers will be attracted and better rewards will be on offer. Be patient and it will be more lucrative in the long run.

Cryptocurrency discussions / Re: what you think About "Tether" coin.
« on: September 20, 2018, 09:19:21 PM »
I'm not a fan of Tether, as I think it has contributed to the fall in the overall market. Tether makes it too easy for investors to jump in and out of other coins. I know it is a popular coin, but for me  it does nothing for the crypto market in general, if anything, it detracts from it. And not sure what you're talking about with Ripple (guessing because it's centralised?), but they're nothing alike.

Cryptocurrency discussions / Re: Top 5 Altcoins Under $1 to Invest In 2018.

The price of a crypto is irrelevant

Not entirely true, price is definitely a factor, but I get your point that it is only one consideration amongst many when looking at value. Recently I have been looking at companies that have a working product due for release soon, as I think that the immediate potential for growth is greater, but it is still no guarantee. It does seem to follow a pattern though, if you can find a coin that has been languishing considerably below it's ATH, and they are due to release news/products related to a key point on their roadmap, then it can be an opportunity to trade and grab a bit of profit. Just bear in mind that there will still be the undeniable risk of a drop if the news doesn't match up to investor's expectations.
