What are some tips to keep your Altcoinstalks account safe?

Is it possible to recover if something bad happens to our Altcoinstalks account by securing email alone, such as theft or forgetting the password? No phone number? No 2fa?

Or do we need another layer of security that we need to activate so that our Altcoinstalks account can only be accessed by ourselves? in btt forum, staking wallet is a community solution to become another recovery solution... do we need the same thing?

Share your experience in securing your Altcoinstalks account... maybe it can be a preference for other people to be careful in the future.

We already have stake wallet solution here if you want to stake your wallet to show the ownership of your account, then you should use this feature. Although the email must be enough to recover the account, yeah, besides wallet and email, we need other ways to recover the account as well. One thing is the admin here gives replies fast, so the time to solve such problems will be less.

If you can't access your email and you lost the wallet seed as well, then you must register the BTT with some other email that can be kept aside, and you can use that account to verify this account I hope if admin can make this work to verify the ownership. Like I have been teleported from BTT to ALTT, and if I lost this account, I might be able to prove my ownership in here and on that account. As I have already proof that on BTT and on ALTT Faisal2202 is my account.

I just use a strong password and i have an email that i use only for my altcoinstalks account, so that is it for me and i don't think i need anything else. If your account password is strong enough and cannot be bruteforced and you are in control of the email address you used to open your account, then i think all is fine.

Have you identified how they managed to hack your e-mail? If they managed to install a malware on your computer or something similar, then using a signed message would be useless IMO. I do agree that you should add more options to secure your account, but after you managed to identify and make sure your device is clean. I remember making the same mistake on my old computer, which is why I used a dedicated offline device for 2FA and so on.

You got it right. I did mean we can use BTT as a recovery method for ALTT if somehow it can work efficiently. If somehow now I verify with admin that Faisal2202 is my account on BTT and whenever I have to recover my ALTT account I will verify it from BTT this way we can get more security as of now we already have 2FA on BTT. But maybe soon we will get 2FA here as well.

By recovering ALTT, it must be straightforward forward, and yeah, those who don't want to create an account first on BTT and then want to teleport from there to here, and those who already have legendary rank here, how can they teleport from BTT or how can they get a teleport badge because if on BTT they are not legendary, then a problem will arise. That's why I think this plan is not that efficient.

I don't know, maybe some people are not so enthusiastic about staking their BTC address here... maybe some people are still waiting for the hacking case to be resolved first, because so far it seems there have been no cases of account hacking on the altcoinstalk forum.

Staking of Bitcoin wallet is just for necessity sake, else, when a member carefully protects their device and their accounts, there's no way they can lose their account to hackers. During my long years of using phone  and laptop, hackers have never been able to steal any of my account, it only happened ones and it was my Facebook account they hacked and I later recovered it back. If one is extremely careful, they will not lose their account.

Is this related to the previous e-mail hack you mentioned in another thread? Hopefully, you can figure out which device is exploited so you can either format or dispose of it forever. Make sure to change your password and activate 2FA on any sensitive account before you stake any message on this forum. If you're using a self-custodial wallet like Electrum, there's a high chance that there's a keylogger or something similar on your device if you never store your seed online.

Personally, I don't think being extra careful is wrong even if you never become a victim of hacking attacks. Remember that people fall for phishing e-mail attacks because they are too confident and never double-check any links before they click them.

You can use any Bitcoin address you have posted on Altcoinstalks (preferably one quoted or archived by another user) as proof of account ownership if it is hacked at any time.

However, if your current wallet is not safe, you should not use the address from that wallet to stake on the forum because hackers risk claiming the account by creating a signed message using the wallet address.

You could try using another safe device for wallet installation purposes until your main device is truly safe.

I think the best way to keep ourself safe is to always plan ahead, we don't have to wait till that time comes, we cant avoid our account being under attack by scammers right from the way we handles it, some of us were too lazy in doing things and this same thing is what we have also taken on how we handles our account, most times we are the cause to the reason why it got compromised because of our negligence.

I would not be guided by the cheapest option here. For example, Ledger had some very cheap offers, a big discount, but it is still not recommended because of everything they have done lately.
Trezor is a good choice (I use it, although I also have Ledger). If you're already thinking about HW, the holidays are coming soon, black Friday etc... for example, I know Trezor always gives additional discounts, so maybe you can take advantage of that.

I'm not sure if it still works or not but I believe the ones who got teleported from Bitcointalk might get their accounts back easily by staking Altcoinstalks account in their Bitcointalk profile and or make a post about it on this forum that they have lost access to their account.

And, when it comes to account safety, then first I suggest you to use a separate device for your accounts and not install any software of that device at all so you may not get any unknown malware in your system and thus the hackers won't be able to hack your account.

You may also try to shift to Linux for better security or at the same time you may choose 2FA for much better security. If I'm not wrong then there's also a similar wallet address staking thread like Bitcointalk on this forum. You may also stake your address there for even better security.
