It's something we've talked about on several occasions. Companies that really want to take care of their image just have to hire someone and use their user signature. It's as simple as that, but I don't know why they don't do it.

@Freemind & dragononcrypto, it seems to me that there are fewer and fewer shillers, or it just seems that way to me. In any case, it is not easy for them, considering that many pairs of eyes are watching them.

There are now 50+ shills labelled as such, which has made them ~95% less active. Probably hundreds of posts have been deleted as well, so you see them a bit less as well.

Reminds me I need to update Gangs of AltcoinsTalks as shills are becoming a notable faction in the forum these days, along with AI detected.

This is the issue with allowing BG shills to become successful, it leads to other companies mimicking the same marketing strategy.

I noticed Jokers followed up with AI detected badge, and another 20%. I've also extended moderation time by 15% as user needs to chill out.

@Freemind, it's hard not to notice them if you look a little closer - they all have the same and very noticeable pattern, which may indicate that it's one and the same team that is paid for what they do - but they do it very, very badly.


@dragononcrypto, I didn't know there were Gangs of AltcoinsTalks - something similar exists on BTT, but there literally certain users are classified into gangs based on various criteria.

You are absolutely right about some imitating others if they see that they can achieve some kind of results with such advertising - that's why they need to be convinced otherwise.

Both users have the shillers badge and also a 20% warning.

They probably get Karma from another account that is from someone who knows them, almost anything is possible.

Both users are relatively new and have few posts, but their intentions are more than obvious. In addition, they use the proven technique of posting in which they state only part of the story and then expect someone to complete it - which unfortunately happened in this topic, where our new Mythical member obviously fell for their trick and helped them make shilling more successful.

That's exactly what I thought, but I must also tell you that I will be able to find out who it is. I won't do anything, I just want to observe that user's behavior to draw my own conclusions.

Shillers usually follow a very defined pattern when it comes to acting, if you read this thread in depth you will see that it is not very difficult.

Regarding your second question, the administrator and the president can send all the positive (and negative) Karma they want, there is no limit. Global moderators, by default, do not have that privilege.

Absolutely, for now it seems that only the admin, president and Global Moderators can give bulk of karma. Even 50 karma in one click.

Will check logs but probably nothing undue (especially if only +2). Shills often make an effort to write good posts (particularly topics) that are not-shilling, in order to gain karma and therefore a degree of respect within the community in order to have accounts that are more effective for shilling. I'm pretty sure the shiller badge quickly nullifies this respect however, so becomes somewhat irrelevant.

In the meantime have given -1 to the shills and +1 to the shill hunters, and I encourage everyone else engaged in decentralised team activities to do the same #coordinatedkarma

As @Freemind has already written, it is very easy to spot them if you pay attention to some things that most often reveal them - sometimes it is very clear what they are doing if they post direct links or write the name of the company they want to promote - and sometimes they use several profiles where one starts with a normal topic and asks a question that prompts others to respond with an answer that is exactly what their goal is to promote.

For me personally, this is the bottom of the bottom of advertising, and I would never use the products or services of a company that does this - although realistically 99% of the users of this forum have nothing against such things - because if they did, they would not allow themselves to be dragged into such false discussions.
