The cryptocurrency market is unique in that it is on 24/7. Unlike traditional markets like stocks, cryptocurrency trading never sleeps. If you’ve been around since 2017, you might also have noticed that it is during the weekends that volatility tends to be more apparent. In fact, it was commonly called the inevitable “weekend dip.”

The truth is, however, this assumption is actually not based on reality. The only consistency has been that weekends are usually a time of great volatility — with no way to predict it. Take, for example, just the past few months: 40 percent of Bitcoin’s price gains have occurred on the weekends since May. In 2017, Bitcoin reached its all-time-high on a Saturday in December 2017. Both of these examples point to more than mere coincidence.

You can say that because you are on a week-end with lots of work breaks, so many people who don't work continue to do the job of trading cryptocurrency.
The more people who trade in cryptocurrency, the stronger the volatile prices in various markets.

Weekends are the manipulative times where bots are really active. Most of the analysist do not consider the weenend data and they use the charts which excludes these data. Bots and wash trading are the main reasons.

It is because free time i think ? Most of people who are doing trades are free on this day, i think that is the reason why the market is volatile, they tend to do tradings time to time and that is the reason why it is being affected.

The reason is simple. During the weekends, a lot of people that see trading as a secondary job gives it their time so volume is increased and this is coupled to existing daily traders

IN my personal opinion, on weekends, many token holders are trading on the crypto world. They will make the price so volatile because they will get any profits from the volatility. Many more people enter the trading market, the price may be more volatile.

However, if we are talking about weekends, it probably relates to the day off work,  so many more people have activities on the crypto world, especially trading that can influence the price volatility

Maybe the crypto price movement is very fast on weekends, but not all exchanges have large trading volumes, I prefer to see market movements when working hours start, there I can see the movement of coins starting to slow, but if some exchanges use API, there is no reason to say that the weekend traders are withdrawing to USD, but some of the traders want to buy other coins / new coins for their new investment

I believe thats because of the converting crypto funds to fiat that resulting to massive sell orders and low buy support thats why the market on weekends are seems unstable. no big Buy walls just a few buy movement.

I agree to some replies. Well we can consider that weekends are really a day of those people who are going to work on weekdays. It's their only time to do their trading because they have more time to monitor and play on the market.

I have a different qustion, why we are growing at summer time? Usually everyone at vacations, like last summer. Fall is most volatile time of the year at any market.

I think this is a normal thing. It is precisely a blessing for traders who like to play short-term. So that they can play a model run. This model is a smart way to be able to reach big profits with little capital. of course this game is suitable for those who  have a lot of free time.
