MetaMask is more than just an Ether wallet. It's an Ethereum Browser, like Mist! It allows you all the same functions, features and ease of access from regular Ethereum Wallets, and it allows you to interact with Dapps and Smart Contracts, and all without the need to download the blockchain or install any software, you can just install it as a Google Chrome Extension! Plus, it has a cool fox logo that follows your mouse around, which made us smile. So, let's get started with MetaMask!

Part 1 - Installing MetaMask

Step 1: get the MetaMask plugin first at chrome webstore
Step 2: Click "Add to Chrome" to Install MetaMask as Google Chrome extension.
Step 3: Click "Add Extension" to confirm and MetaMask will be added

Part 2 - Creating a new wallet

Step 1: Click the MetaMask logo
Step 2: Read and agree to the MetaMask terms and Conditions
Step 3: Click "Create a new vault"
Step 4: Enter a strong password and click "OK"
Step 5: Metamask will now show you your seed. It is very important that you copy and store those 12 worlds, without them you cannot restore your wallet.


Part 3 - Changing to the Mainnet & Funding your account

Step 1: Click "Modern Testnet"
Step 2: Choose "Main Ethereum Network"
Step 3: MetaMask will now ask you for the password. Type it in and click "Unlock"
Step 4: Click the copy logo to get your wallet address. Then all you have to do send Ether to it from your favorite exchange or wallet.


Part 5 - Sending Ether

Step 1: Click "Send"
Step 2: Enter the wallet address to where you want to send Ether to (1), Enter the amount of Ether you want to send (2) and click "Send" (3)
Step 3: Confim the transaction data and click "Accept"


And that's it! You can now send and recieve Ether on your MetaMask wallet. Furthermore, you'll also be able to visit Ethereum

I agree with your post, for me (I'm using MEW since 2017) using PK key to unlock the wallet is really risky. A nasty thing happens when I accidentally pasted my PK key in a "hacked" MEW (a phishing site back then) and you guessed it, all of my balances are transferred to someone else, and can't be returned.
But using Metamask, you own your custom password to unlock your wallet, so you won't bother to open your notes and write it/paste it on the website (which is very risky). And the good thing is the wallet is always on along with opening your browser. So +1 for Metamask.

Is there a way to transfer all the ethers and all of tokens from MEW to MetaMask?

Instead of transferring all your tokens from MEW to Metamask, which results in transaction costs, you can import your MEW wallet into Metamask.

How to import MyEtherWallet to MetaMask?

Option 1: Use 12 Word Phrase

In order to use this method, you will not need to create a new account on MetaMask.

1. Click on the “Import Existing DEN” link



2. Paste your MyEtherWallet 12 word phrase, select a new password and you'll be able to access your MEW wallet through Metamask.


 
Note: The password you entered will be used to access your wallet on MetaMask and will NOT change the existing password used with MyEtherWallet.


Option 2: Import UTC/JSON File or Private Key

In order to use this method, you will first need to create a new account on MetaMask. Once this is done, you will be able to import your wallet using a UTC/JSON file or Private Key.

1. Click on the avatar icon and select the option to “Import Account”.
2. You will now see a screen with the option to use a Private Key or JSON file like the one below.



3. You can either Choose "Private Key" or "JSON File" and import it.
Note: If you are using the JSON File, you'll have to enter the password associated with it. 

So by following either Option 1 or 2, you can access the same wallet through MEW and Metamask.

Why would anyone give away their private key to someone else ?? Couldn't understand.

If you say that someone got your Private Keys then you will not be having much time to transfer your coins to Metamask Just abandon the wallet if someone has your Private Keys.

But if you still insist on transferring it to MetaMask, just send them like a normal transaction to your Metamask Wallet

It happened to me when I just get into crypto, at that time I don't know if the site was eventually hacked/phished by someone. And when I input my PK, you know how the story ends 

So that's why I'm standing for #teamMetamask, it's simpler and only you know the password to access it
