It's funny that some CEO of a certain project called it a lost year. Maybe that is true for their coin  ;D

Though there are many projects that failed to fulfill their own promise/roadmap, nobody exactly promised anything about the moon, regulations, adoptions, and many other things. They are just predictions of some "influencers", "experts", and "analysts".

I do want to point out the major disappointment of the year which is Libra. It's not that I expected it to be successful because I know regulators will make it hard for them but I did not expect some of its major partners to pull out.

It can not be said that 2019 was successful for cryptocurrency and its holders, but it can not be called bad either. In any case, regardless of the price level in the market, cryptocurrency continues to develop. In the past 2019, bitcoin showed good price growth in the second quarter, which means that it has the potential for growth. The situation with altcoins is slightly worse, but the cryptocurrency market is volatile, it can still change for the better.
As for the Libra coin, I did not expect anything special from it.

Cryptocurrencies are still in the earliest stage of the adoption. If we talk about the longterm period, we shouldn't care about the current prices.

2019 was the best year for cryptocurrency than the previous one, and this is the most important thing. I did not expect significant achievements from this year, including at cryptocurrency prices. Everything has its time. Cryptoata can’t constantly grow in price, this would ultimately lead to its collapse. Cryptocurrency is gradually recognized by states and they began to determine the rules for its circulation in their countries. This is also good. Therefore, I do not consider the past year for cryptocurrency a failure.

If you compare it to 2018, we can say 2019 is a better year for bitcoin and the overall crypto scene. It's just that some people set their expectations too high that's why they call it a "lost year". There were significant developments like the launching of Bakkt and the Bitcoin futures. Although it did not pump bitcoin's price after launch like some speculators expected, it was still a major step.

Everytime those "next year" or "next decade" predictions aren't delivering for many and on the other hand for some the expectations are fulfiled handsomely like with mentioned here Bakkt. The most interesting things will happen in the next years, 2019 has been somewhat stagnant for me - nothing unusual happened, I didn't move my assets a lot, but it's true - it's been a better year than 2018 definitely. It's all just the prelude to the massive adaption of cryptocurrencies, I just hope it will happen very soon. The thing that worries me is increasing number of hacks, thefts and hoaxes, hope 2020 will deliver some solutions there.
