I agree if you say that all coins used to be new coins, but to be honest it is not easy to do research to be able to predict that the new coin will be as big as BNB, ETH, SOL. First of all i would say to improve your skills because the more skilled you are in crypto the better you can make profitable investments. As for the reason i would like to say that as investing in new coins is risky, investing in those whose projects cannot be implemented well is risky. However in some cases it is possible to profit from new crypto coins if their developer community is strong. But if you want to avoid them, I suggest you to buy good quality coins like bitcoin, ethereum and binance coin.

Of course, if the new coins can be big coins, we must take big advantage. But it is very difficult to know which new coins that are possible to be big coins. It is not easy to analyze them although we already take a deep research on them. Many of the new coins become dead coins although they look very convincing during the public sales (ICO, IEO, etc). This makes me worried to buy new coins, I mostly prefer to choose old coins now.

HODLing shitcoins sounds so ridiculous, it's just like gathering different varieties of fruits and hoping to keep them for a long-term and hoping it won't get rotten, even after knowing too well that the chances of the fruits getting rotten is 100% but you just chose to keep them because someone told you that the fruits can stay up to a year or more before getting rotten, that's just so outrageous.

I had a terrible experience with an altcoin(Waves), but that doesn't mean others would end up so. I have a time frame(next year) and price tag I am aiming to sell all my altcoins.

Research is always the key for you to get convinced whether you would really be investing into a particular coin or not but not somehow that give out that 100%

As I said before, new coins will bring greater profits than old coins, but the risks are much greater. and I often fail when investing in new coins and suffer losses. Maybe I don't have the expertise to do research on new projects, that's why I suggest you should choose top coins in CMC, the risk is smaller.
