UK Treasury Wants to Bring Crypto Ads Under Direct Gov’t Oversight

British consumers need stronger rules to protect them from deceptive crypto ads, says U.K. minister.
The government of the United Kingdom believes that current rules do not go far enough to protect consumers from misleading crypto ads and is advocating change.

New proposals published on July 20 would, if approved, bring the promotion of certain types of crypto assets under direct regulation from the Financial Conduct Authority — or FCA — for the first time.

Some will disagree but in my opinion this will be really good for crypto scene in UK. Such regulation will not only restrict fake or scam crypto projects but also boost investor confidence in genuine and quality crypto projects.

Instead of having this handled by a government agency, maybe they should come up with an independent committee or council with representation from ordinary people to look into the problem of fake and scamming crypto ads...and maybe not just crypto ads but any ads that has the intent to scam money from anyone.
