Commissioner Hester Peirce, AKA “Crypto Mom,” slammed the SEC for chasing after Telegram for its 2018 ICO.
Hester Peirce, the crypto lovin’ commissioner of the US Securities and Exchange Commission, said that the SEC made an error in taking legal action that led to the shutdown of the Telegram Open Network, the $1.7 billion crypto project from Telegram, a popular chat app.

I am happy that atleast some official from SEC has opened up about it and exposed SEC, i personally think they should go after cheaters and scammers while they should encourage legit projects, if there is some discrepency they should fine them and made them to follow rules but completelys topping or cancelling an innovative project is never going to make sense.

It was a huge loss Telegram's ICO was rejected. It would have been a boost to the ICO trend, which was doomed in the last few years due to a large amount of scam projects. I don't really understand why SEC didn't approve Telegram's ICO but I think they had reasons for it.

SEC actually abused its power when it was dealing with the Telegram ICO by shutting down a program which is not basically based in the USA therefore making an overreach of its function as a regulatory body. I hope that soon this can be rectified by allowing Telegram to make a part 2 of its crowdfunding run and allowing USA residents to participate on it.
