Sending in fake ID for KYC
« on: July 23, 2020, 05:23:53 PM »
I just was brought up to speed on groups of people sending in fake/Photoshopped ID's by scanning public records to defeat the KYC process and it seemingly is very easy to do.  It appears that many people sent in fake documentation to the Bob's and Polymath KYC and had no hassles.  How do these companies verify people if all they have to go on is public information?  Did they even really check the ID's or were they simply collected the data?
How rampant do you think this is?  How many of us are complete fools for turning in our documents when others simply faked it.Now they have our data and the people who faked it are still secure.

I think that the system of KYC has been so popular. We can follow their instruction in order to fulfill and complete the criteria. Here, the KYC process mostly has been used by new blockchain. So, actually it is already usual thing, but if we don't see that it is trustable, just avoid to do KYC process.

I think we already have the solution for this case, it is live KYC. With this procedure, someone cannot use fake ID because it should be idetified with live KYC, by using video call. I have seen that many crypto platforms, especially exchanges, have applied this way for their user' KYC process.

Kyc is a systematic process of identifying cheating and scammers but if kyc with fake and false information, how can identify fake and false data. Please verification process should be cleared and absolutely visible with web cam. I think verification with web cam altime right database should need.

The mission of KYC is to prevent money laundering and combat the financing of terrorism. It should not be conducted to identify multiple accounts of one user on such forums.
In addition, the FATF decision of June 21 last year recommended to conduct KYC only for transactions exceeding one thousand euros. If ICO teams send their tokens to bounty hunters for a total amount of less than one thousand euros for participation in ICO bounty campaigns, they have no right to require us to complete KYC.

The Kyc process works very well as a field for all companies. I think every exchange and cryptocurrency user should give importance to kyc. The kyc should contain the person's information, national id, photo and bank documents. So no one can cheat. I think, just kyc is not the main purpose. kyc will play an important role in preventing government tax evasion. So if the government of any country wants to take tax from cryptocurrency then kyc will be the main objective. Your idea is right.

The KYC process is now not as simple as just sending a national ID, passport or driver's license but there is a face recognition system.  If any of you registered last month for airdrop CRO (crypto.com).  We have to go through the KYC process in the CRO application, one of which is by looking at the camera.

If the KYC process only sends a national ID, driver's license or passport.  In my opinion there are 2 possibilities:
1. Really for KYC
2. Theft of documents ( As happened in the ExStock exchange )

I really don't like KYC, I better not do KYC than my data is misused. if the KYC system is decentralized, I think safe, but if our data is stored by a group of people. it's very dangerous

If any company requires KYC by just sending in a national ID or Passport without a facial recognition then it's probably should be looked into. There are registered KYC providers now which can be used even for airdrops, that also ensures data privacy and security. If any company is asking for KYC but not assuring data security then i think it's not worth it.

KYC is mainly needed because some people do bad thing like abuse, cheating, or money laundry. It's really useful for project to fight those people. But only do kyc when you trust the project that you follow.

KYC has always been one of the most problematic issues for the crypto community, because personal information is an anonymous & valuable asset that is one of the advantages of blockchain... Some projects require KYC to reduce the number of abusers, they don't actually check or verify them. Anyway, we don't know what the collectors have been doing with our KYC information, so just provide KYC to really big companies, at least reduce the risk of information misuse. personal message. I don't want to start the day with the knock on the door of the police because my personal information attached to a criminal :(

The fact of the matter is that now no project can be trusted. None of the business structures project takes any responsibility for the safety of our identification data obtained during KYC. Therefore, such personal data often appears on the Internet. In this regard, whenever possible, KYC needs to bypass or send changed data. However, I do not recommend doing this with exchanges. You can lose your money.

If you know how to do that without getting caught, well it's better to use it with those untrusted sites. but remember KYC was made to know more about our authenticity then if you are submitting fake Identification card I think that was a violation of a certain law but it defends on each countries law about the falsification of public documents.

I have stopped providing KYC for projects for a long time, be it an exchange or an ICO/IEO. I know that many people offer KYC only to receive $5-10 worth of tokens in airdrop campaigns without knowing that their personal information is worth much more.
Perhaps we need to find an alternative solution for KYC.
