Hodling is basically a culture in cryptoworld to hold coins for a long term basis in the hope that their value will increase someday. It's treating it like a monetary investment that has potential to be sold way above the price it was purchased for and allows the holder to still have presence in the crypto market without actually having to go through daily exchanges and worrying over fluctuations in the market value of the currency.
Due to the scarcity of the number of Bitcoins present and being limited, it is the best cryptocurrency to hodl. Its limited number is what creates the potential of its price to skyrocket someday in the future and also allows the hodler to be a part in the future of fintech.
