Volatility is harmful to investors when there is market sell off but have you look at the positive side of it?
Whenever the market is volatile with enormous amount of volume been traded and your portfolio increases in value, you will enjoy it and that's why I prefer cryptocurrency market than stock exchange.
You can make an average of $30 in trading without adding margin or futures but you can't do that in forex or stock market except there is a huge news that may cause increase in demand of a particular stock which sometimes may be in-between 2-8%
In cryptocurrency, your open position can fetch you 30% in 24 hours depending on the altcoins you purchase. In conclusion, volatility is having positive and negative effects on the market making it ceteris paribus.

Already from the beginning Bitcoin appears very high bitcoin Volatility. I think that Volatility is very important and this is what gives a lot of great advantages for traders. This sometimes happens when a project lack update and frequent news from the team which results in lack of trust.
Again, volatility is most time associated with newly launch projects, they tend to rise as everyone will want to fomo at the initial stage but as soon as they make profit, they began to sell off and the circle begin again. This happened even with existing altcoins as well, all time high tend to happen in every season or year.
